AMAZING PLACE FOR SNORKELLING! Just 1m out from the beach you can spot such a great variety of fish- even huge ones. There are also several schools of fishes that will swim around the bay which is spectacular. Some of the reefs are quite low lying so be careful try not to get cut by them. Swim towards the big rock that you can climb up and there’s a small little lagoon that is extremely stunning. Schools of fishes hiding inside with perfect visibility. Happy exploring! Best of all no lame entrance fee that you have to pay for a public beach.

The best place for snorkelling, even during the summer months. The corals are amazingly beautiful, we saw sharks and turtles almost every day. The water usually is quite still too, barely any waves.

Best snorkelling spot on the island and that’s a fact. No question about it. It’s free you have plenty of shades and there is some nice restaurants. Saw a stingray so be careful. Beautiful corals, alive in the majority!

So cool so mmhh miam miam. Perfect for fun snorkeling!! There is a lot of fishes and coral even at a rather low sea level, but the sea gets a bit deeper not too far away, which is rare for Surat Tani's islands. There's also a large rock that you can climb with a rope and jump from!

Beautiful bay, so many corals and some rare fishes as well 🙏☺️. Was lucky enough to spot a ribbontail ray, pufferfish, black tips, titan trigger fish and seaturtle, all of them while snorkeling. Can get a little crowded at times and it hurts to see many people walking and standing on those beautiful corals 😞, damaging them. Food is generally upto 50% more expensive than Sairee region

Incredible Bay on Koh Tao. Snorkelling is best beyond the immediate shore area, but it is an easy swim out there. Wide variety of Incredibly friendly fish. The beach itself is rocky so can be tough on the feet - advise you have foot wear of some sort when walking along. Multiple places to hire snorkelling equipment and, overall, it is a quiet beach away from the main tourist area of the island. Beautiful scenery.

Great snorkeling spot, there is so many fish right next to the shore! In some places the water is quite shallow and the coral is very near, be careful. Enter through the right side, you will find a way without many corals :) enjoy this beautiful place! As many places in Koh Tao, the road can be quite steep, be careful while driving!!

Gorgeous beach and a fun drive to get there! The water is crystal clear and there’s a big rock you can swim to and jump off if you’re looking for a bit of a thrill. It’s worth a day trip at the very least.

One of the best bays for good snorkeling in Koh Tao. There are really great corals all along the beach and around the island in the middle. You can climb the rocks on the island to jump off of to impress that girl you met at the hostel bar last night.

Best place to snorkel in Koh Tao. So much variety of corals and fishes just a few meters from the shore. There's also a tall rock you can climb and jump off from but it's quite challenging to get to the top, so climb at your own risk

Lovely beach with big rock you can jump off, good for snorkelling too. Quite a steep track to get down

The beach was to be honest pretty horrible - the ‘sand’ which was more like smaller pebbles and random bits and bobs. There was lots of poo and some litter along the beach front. The reason this is getting 3 stars is in terms of snorkelling it’s nice, some cool fish and coral but feel like that’s more of a coincidence and can be found at pretty much any of the beach’s here.

Bigger beach area and still wasn’t overly crowded. Poor snorkelling visibility but you will see fish at least. Can use the toilet at the restaurant for 10 Baht. Big rock to climb and jump off of. Good time!

Excellent spot for snorkelling, but please don’t go there by yourself by motorbike if you are not used to, or at least don’t take an old motorbike and check your brakes before. Road can be quite dangerous

This beach is different from the other beaches in the island. There's a mix of trees from the hills and nice sand in the beach. There's a huge rock in the water that you can climb using a rope and then jump into the water.

Very nice beach, clear water. Very good for snorkeling. In the middle of the bay is a big rock where you can jump off. A few bars and restaurants are available. I bit opened to the east, can be a little bit of waves with stronger winds and a bit seaweed floating around.

This spot was good for snorkeling! The day we went there, it was quite windy. The best spot for snorkeling is indeed on the right of the jumping rock. My friend spotted a sting ray there, just where it gets REALLY deep and the ocean floor is sandy. In front of the jumping rock, where there’s more shallow & dead corals, there were 2 baby black tip coral reef sharks. 🦈🦈 These were 1m. As adults they can grow 1,6m long. The sharks didn’t bite us. According to the internet, which I read later, you should stay in motion while snorkeling. If you just float there, they are more likely to think you’re snack! I just floated there ofc. Lots of fish, big and small! If you want to jump from the rock, there’s a rope that you can use to climb up.

Very nice snorkelling : we saw 2 reef sharks and lots of big beautiful fishes. The wind was a bit strong but thanks to the rocks in the sea, we could enjoy the snorkelling anyway. Very good spot and not busy at all.

The best snorkelling i’ve ever experienced. Spectacular reefs and lots of beautiful wildlife. I would recommend going in the morning as it was a little too busy by 12-1pm. Free bike parking at the top of the hill and the restaurant there has snorkels for hire. The roads there are very twisty and hilly so be careful! There was also a big rock which people were climbing up and jumping off. Not for me but it was entertaining to watch.

Amazing place for scuba diving. Shallow waters are full of multiple species of fishes. You can spend hours in the warm water discovering the area and witness the richness of the gulf of Thailand.

Tanote Bay is a very gorgeous and picturesque bay. It is not an extremely crowded bay so you will be able to have quite some privacy here. The water is beautifully blue and the beach is gorgeous. A good place to spend an afternoon here. You can park here for free with your bike, unlike other bays.

Best snorkelling on Koh Tao. When the vis is good this beach has the best access to a lot of the awesome marine life. Best bet is hanging around the North side of the main rocks. Jumping off the South side of the big rock is also so much fun, just make sure there aren’t any rocks below!

This spot is beautiful. Clean beach, not too crowded, relaxed atmosphere. You're likely to see some crabs, lizards, fish, etc. The only downfall is that the sea, as many in Thailand, it's quite 'rocky' for the first few metres. Be wary of cutting your feet.

Beautiful place for snorkeling, lots to see and explore (small and harmless sharks, octopuses, clown/parrot fish and many more). Be sure to bring good gear so you'll enjoy the snorkeling and not having to fix your gear all the time (of you buy a cheap one like we did 😉). Rent a bike or a cab and visit here for a couple of hours. Sun sets over the mountain around 17.00 so arrive in the morning or noon in order to have good light and also so you'll have time to dry or enjoy the sun before heading back. For the brave ones, there is a rock you can jump off but you have to climb a boulder in the sea, with a not-so-safe-looking rope, so...up to you. Other than than, we saw a restaurant, massage spot, diving club and some hotels so it's well facilitated.

My favorite snorkeling beaches in Koh Tao, fantastic beach and can snorkeling nearby to see coral and a lot type fishes; most important is no entrance fee.

Spent a week relaxing in a bungalow here. The snorkeling off the beach is fantastic, best I have experienced combining variety of fish and ease of access. The large rock was fun to scale and high enough to feel rewarded for the climb when jumping off the top

👍 Perfect beach to relax, bad choice for snorkeling. Corals and under water sea life are almost nonexistent, but the water is shallow, perfect for a refreshing bath. 👍👍 Great quiet beach. Easy to get to on motorbike, but the road can be quite steep. Use a low gear and be smart. I prefer to take a taxi truck here to Montalay Resort and walk to beach from there.
