This place surprised me - and not in a positive way unfortunately. With it being recommended in travel guides and here I really thought that we picked well. I will put the positives and negativeā€™s as I feel thatā€™s easier as there is a lot to say about this place. Positives: 1) You do get a lot of good recipes- the food did taste good and I feel itā€™s not too hard to make at home 2) the selection of recipes Negatives: Pretty much everything else 1) We got food poisoning- which wasnā€™t surprising as the kitchen wouldnā€™t pass many health and safety standards. The meat wasnā€™t properly refrigerated and I donā€™t think hands are washed often. 2) itā€™s so hot - can be an interesting experience as it truly feels authentic but with the humidity, mosquitoes and then all the hot oil/soups it just gets too much 3) there are too many people in the class so most of the 4 hours is spent sitting around waiting 4) I canā€™t say I learned to cook anything - we were just told what to do (like following a recipe) so I donā€™t feel I actually gained much 5) the Chef obviously knows her stuff - the recipes are good and we enjoyed them before the food poisoning took hold. But sheā€™s quite aggressive and hard to understand. There is a general lack of structure to this class. The chef was distracted and on her phone for quite a big portion of the time and there was a general lack of care. In conclusion, was it authentic - yes. Would I ever recommend it - no. Iā€™d rather have something a bit more professional and learn less dishes rather than not learn much at all and end up sick. Writing this review as part of our 10-day holiday in Thailand. I really felt that many reviews of businesses in Thailand didnā€™t seem genuine so even though I donā€™t usually review anything I have decided to leave one for every company we used! Hopefully it helps people out as I felt I couldnā€™t fully trust the reviews I was reading šŸ™

A really terrific experience with Chef Oy. There were only 2 of us on the day we went so it was a private class. The highlight for me was walking around the market and discovering the many unique ingredients. There was a reasonable choice of dishes, although several have a similar base. I would have liked a couple of more unique choices. However I have to hand it to Chef Oy the preparation and cooking led to some truly fantastic food. We learned a little more in the conversation afterwards and I would like to come back and cook some of the dishes we discussed that aren't so typical. Highly recommended.

It's everything what you can expect from a cooking class. Starting from buying fresh veggies and herbs, ending with your own Thai dishes. Love it. Oy, the chef, is very knowledgeable, warm and open cook who will reveal some of best kept secrets. I really enjoyed the time with her and I can highly recommend this class!

My girlfriend and I did the class and loved it. It's good value for money and everyone can do their own dish so you get to try a bunch of different dishes. The class is fun and the 4 hours flew by, plus we had tons of leftovers to take back to our hotel. Definitely recommend.

Very authentic Thai cooking class with great teacher Oy who was knowledgeable and super accommodating to dietary needs, letting us choose what we wanted to make. We really enjoyed the shopping trip and the relaxed atmosphere eating the food we made.

Honestly I donā€™t like writing bad reviews. But since I tried talking to the lady herself and she didnā€™t want to hear, I feel like I have to share it so others can make a better decision in the search for cooking classes. Or maybe she will change her system after reading this. Letā€™s start with that I do believe these people know about Thai ingredients and cooking. I booked the day before and she told me I could joint other people, no problem for me! I believe she wanted to help me by giving me a spot, but it would have been much better if she didnā€™t, so I could have gone another day and another place. Once we arrived I saw that we were with 13 people!! I payed 1500baht for 4 courses btw. We were supposed to start with buying the ingredients, unfortunately she had forgotten the market was closed. We saw how coconut milk was made, but when the fresh coconut dropped on the floor, she still used it..Then we walked to another building in where there was only space for 6 people to cook. That meant that there was a LOT of waiting time. Also some of cutlery and pots were very dirty. But Oke, these things may just be the difference between European and Thai standards. Nothing was organised or structured and more than half of the time I had no clue what ingredients I was using in which proportions. You could see and feel the lady was stressed and definitely not patient or open for questions about the products or the use of it, so I was afraid to ask more. If her staff tried to help, letā€™s say you could here in her voice there was something she wasnā€™t happy about šŸ˜‚ Eventually she forgot that I also had to make soup, which the others already did. Therefore she prepared everything and I had to make 3 dishes at the same time, absolutely not knowing what I was putting in in what amounts, and just switching between pans. That also ment I had 3 dishes to eat at the same time. Also because of the chaos she walked away to other all the time in the middle of an ā€œexplanationā€ therefor ingredients got mixed and whiles cooking stuff burned. My phangan curry was absolutely not a phangan curry, something went wrong. Btw, you could take everything home in boxes . I wanted to follow classes since I love cooking and wanted to be able to cook good Thai food by myself after this. 90% of the others in the group agreed that this was absolutely ridiculous, but hey it was an unforgettable experience. We have the recipes so that will help. Once we got the recipes we saw that they had different ingredients. The lady explained that she just took these cause thatā€™s how others on the internet cook it, but they do it differently. Thanks for the israeli people next to me who made it a fun afternoon. I really tried to explain to her why this was very disappointing and that I can absolutely not cook any Thai dish that we made today. She said it was too full because of the full moon party and that it was not her fault, sorry if I wasnā€™t happy.

Loved this experience - we went shopping to buy produce and then cooked an appetiser and each 2 main dishes. The class was informative, the chef was knowledgeable and lovely, and the food was absolutely incredible after. Would recommend :)

My wife and I attended this cooking class in 2018, and we still think about it to this day. It was an incredible experience and we learned so much about Thai cooking. Highly recommended!

I highly recommend! The food was delicious , we started at the food court shopping products for the dishes we chosen, and then drove to the workshop place one minute , fun experience, good teachers, and clean and professional šŸ˜
