A very scenic geographical location. Getting to the peak involves a 750 meter hike up. A moderate difficulty hike. Bring plenty of water as the hike up is not shaded and will be subjected to the scorching sun. In mid January the weather is cooling though. At the top, the views of two countries await you. It is worth the hike.

Terribly burned by arsonists in 2023, sadly. Terrible smoke and hazardous air. Dangerous Air Quality Index over 400. Sadly not a tourist attraction. Advise to stay indoors with air filters on maximum as Government not doing anything for public health.

Sublime experience. Watching the sunrise over Laos across an ocean of clouds skirting the Mekong River is a once in a lifetime experience. This place is a must visit (sunrise or sunset) if you’re touring Chiang Rai. The walk from the car park is about half a mile, so bring good shoes and water. Lots of great camping (and glamping) sites to stay at the night before so you can be there in time to catch the dawn. We stayed at Nara View (highly recommend), which was only 3 min drive to the view road turnoff.

This was a gorgeous hike at 5am. We came from Chang Mai so a 2 hour night drive at 3am is always my favorite way to get up. All in all the region is so beautiful and the day was so perfect that I would love to go again. The down side to the amazing sunrises is all the other travels crowding around to get the same views. Try to come early for the best spots

Amazing view!! TIPS & INFO: - Get here at least 90min before sunrise time - This allows you to watch night turn into day, it’s spectacular - Stay till at least 30min after sunrise to see the amazing transformation!! - Buy a cheap torch or use your phone torch so you don’t trip on the slippery 850m walk to the top. - Stalls also sell hot drinks and warm hats. - take the stairs opposite the stalls to start the hike. - If you have your own transport part at ‘Phu Chi Fa Base’ on google maps - If no transport ask any local the day before (at a restaurant, at your accommodation) to organise a driver it will cost 500baht per car and can fit 10 people!! - it’s a short but very steep drive.

Seeing the sea of clouds in Phu Chi Fa is one of the best experiences in my life so far. I went up around 4:30 AM, waited for the sunrise, and when it happened, the sight I saw was just amazing. ❤️ It gets crowded of course, but just try and find a spot for great pictures. there's a designated viewpoint there, but if you try and go around the other picture spots, you will also get real nice photos from there. just go around. find a spot where there aren't a lot of people.

Organised, clean and well maintained trail leading to the viewpoint. Visited on 24th November 2023 and the weather was lovely at around 13 deg C at dawn, clear skies and can see the sea of fog moving in. The hike up of 760m is not too difficult or steep but will pose a challenge for someone with weak joints or heart condition.

I went in the middle of the raining season (August) and it was lovely. It was raining at the car park but at the peak it cleared after a while. Stunning views into Laos.

One of best view points in Chiang Rai and probably the best in Thailand. The trek isn't that hard as I thought. I went there at sunset and got the golden hour views. Simply beautiful.
