Great place to have fun in Chiang Dao, the owner, Khun Buppha's enjoyment is when people are happy and cheering together. And if you are not, she'll cheer you up! She'll also will not let you go without one of her magic potion, half medication, half alcohol. Pool, darts, games, hammer-it-down, drum-kit, guitar, anybody can be a wannabe d-jay!

The Cave Bar is a very special bar run by a very special lady. It’s my second time in Chiang Dao, and I happened upon it the first time I came. Thankfully, it hasn’t changed at all and the bar is as great as ever. Chilled and local with a mix of interesting expats. It seems to attract great people who are always warm and welcoming- It’s somewhere I would make a point of coming back to. Tip: ask Buppa to make your margarita – they’re fantastic!

Great little bar and great host ..she has a full band set up, I played on the guitar through the amp for a couple of nights ..very chill and mellow..oh and her infused local whiskey was wonderfull...no hangover .

I came across the cave bar by sheer luck. This gem has an owner who is as kind as she is accommodating. I relied on the cave bar for multiple services—food, a night out, scooter rental, and taxi service. All exceeded expectations. The food - I ate green curry and sushi. The green curry was fresh, had great flavor, and was filling. Noot is a great cook. The sushi blew me away - in an unexpected treat, they also serve top-notch sushi. Andy, who trained at the world-famous Nobu, made a delicious shrimp roll and combo platter. This was fine dining in a casual setting. Amazing. I personally met them and let them know how I enjoyed the food. A night out - Chiang Dao is a peacefully cute sleepy town, and if you want to go somewhere to meet friends and locals, the cave bar is the place. I made multiple friends who helped me around Chiang Dao, including the owner, Buppha. She gave me fair prices on anything and is a very good person all around. Scooter rental - seamless and was on a bike in under 15 minutes. Taxi service - Buppha organized a seamless transfer at a fair price. Overall, in the short period of time I was in Chiang Dao, the Cave Bar and all of its services, along with its great people who work and meet there, made my experience in Northern Thailand one of the best I have had. I will be back, and the Cave Bar and its people are one of the reasons I will return.

Love this place! Such a gem of a bar - pool table, darts and a load of fun board games to play (connect 4 being my fav!) The woman who owns the bar is so welcoming and lovely. Plus, she makes the ice cream - and I must say, it is DELICIOUS 😋

Very cozy bar! The owner is a pearl: she really made us feel at home! She makes a very good herbal liquor. You can go on the stage and jam or play pool and darts. This place also offers accommodation and motorcycle/ bicycles rentals. You can’t miss it if you go to Chiang Dao!

Found this place by accident on a rainy night. I was actually heading to Jin’s - a top rated Italian restaurant a few metres up the road - but it was closed and I saw this bar on the way back. I stopped to see if they served food, and they did. Excellent western and Thai food, great atmosphere and a lovely owner who makes margaritas that pack a punch! Will definitely be back when I’m next in Chiang Dao.

We absolutely loved this place. Great spot to pick up a game of pool and meet some great people. Great cocktails and beer selection, along with their own distilled whiskey.

The word bar in the name of this place doesn’t do it enough just; it is so much more than that. Be it a drink, food, renting a bike or motorcycle, getting laundry done, accommodation or a chat you need, this place can make it all happen. All made possible by lovely heart warming people run it. So there simply is no reason to not go here when you’re paying a visit to Chiang Dao.

The Cave bar is the heart of Ban Tham. Although I was staying elsewhere, it became my home for my week in beautiful Chiang Dao. It's a real warm and welcoming place with really kind and helpful people running it. They have pool, darts and boardgames. You can rent bikes and scooters, do laundry and ask for advice on what to do in Chiang Dao and Thailand in general. I also enjoyed fantastic food here. Tammy has had restaurants in several places around the world and cooked the most wonderful food for me every night and she also takes requests! Basically you can get everything you need right here at the Cave Bar. But really for me, what made this place so special were the girls running it; Buppah and Tammy, who I enjoyed many conversations with as well as other lovely people I met at the bar, both locals and travelers. Thanks for everything :)

Amazing bar in Chiang Dao, serves really tasty, fresh food, both Thai and western. Has lots of games to play and pool and darts too. Owner is lovely, we also rented a moped from her for five days for our trip and ate/drank there on three occasions. Lots of services like moped and bicycle rental, rooms, taxi service, laundry, at good prices! Thanks for making our trip so enjoyable!

Buppha is great! She organises trekking tours 30 minutes drive outside Chiang Doa Cave bar. Just the trip getting to the start of the trail is amazing ❤️. For us, a family with two kids (12, 14y), it was exhilarating 1,5h hike to a beautifull waterfall. Buppha made lunch served in fresh bananaleaf. Really worth every penny.

This review is only for the bike rental and not the restaurant. Got here before 5pm when the restaurant wasn’t open, so just rented bicycles. The bike rental was really cheap, but the bikes are really poorly maintained. Had to try out all the bikes before we could find 2 in decent rideable condition. The owner is nice and friendly and also organizes hiking tours around Chiangdao.

Out of tourist season but this place provided an essential self service washing machine and dryer and scooter rental at a great price. Also helps me learn the ropes of scooter use as a first time user. Bar also has a quirky positive vibe with pool, darts and a drum kit! The food was excellent. The scooter we rented was sturdy and served us well and roads and drivers were very easy to drive with.

I had an incredible experience staying at the Cave Bar. I initially had only booked one night but stayed for three. Staying at this homestay/bar and in the town of Chiang Dao has been one of the best and most authentic experiences during my travels in Thailand. The rooms were very comfortable and had character unlike some of the more moderns hostels I have stayed in, in the bigger cities. Not to mention all the incredible people (locals and travelers) that come through to have a drink, connect, and maybe play some pool. The owner and original Cave Woman, Buppa was incredibly hospitipal and welcoming, treating guests like family. Not to mention she makes her own herbal whiskey! How badass is that! I plan to visit again at some point!!!!! 5 plus stars from me!!! 💜💚💙

Do not go here! Lady who owns bar is a cheat, and a crook! She should be put behind bars!!!! She deliberately gave me a bike with broken brakes and tires after "checking all of them" then tried to charge me for damages!! Not only did she try to rip me off, she also put my life in danger!!!!

The BEST quiche I had in long long time! Served with a big salad, delicious!!! The owner is so nice and welcoming, everything is home made and you can taste the love. She treated us with a home made rice liquor shot, it was absolutely amazing! I highly recommend this place, definitely will come back. Thank you so much!

Nice quaint little place on way to Chiang Dao national park, stopped for coffee and lunch , great Thai food , coffee is pour over was good but not my favorite.This place had live music and is a bar was told by my friends that it is really good hang out, can rent rooms .

Had a super vegan Massaman curry with generous quantities of local veg and some lovely rice. It was worth the money. I thought the music was just too loud given there was only myself and my companion present. I'm not a fan of reggie music. Pool table a boon.

Buppha was so welcoming as soon as we entered the bar. The bar is incredibly quirky and unique and a great range of choice of drinks. Buppha gave us loads of great advice and locals tips and tricks of what do in the area and further north of Thailand.

Spent four days exploring Chiang Dao over Christmas. This bar was our little fun haven every evening. It has many board-games, a pool table, a darts board and great music. Bupha, the owner, is so witty and charming! We loved spending time with her and her two little puppies, Smokey and Charlie. Thank you for everything, we will be back.

A very cool restaurant/bar, you should definately take a break in this place. Buppha is super sweet and makes sure you feel welcome, the food is great and you can also live there. Rent scooters and bycicles, I actually think she can help you with almost everything!

Old american expat painter that looked like john baldesaari arguing with me about art theory. Middle aged expat techy telling me about the telescope he's building for the thai government. Drove past the Cave Bar it looked quirky and fun. Made a point to come back for dinner as really excited by the vegetarian pies (cheese and broccoli 👍) and so glad we did. We ended up staying late, drinking, chatting playing pool and making friends. Buppha is a great hostess with a fantastically stocked bar. We look forward to coming back next time we are in Chiang Dao!
