2021 Update to review from 1 year ago: Same story but worse now. Good teaching staff, terrible, greedy management. The school announced huge increases to Parents without any consultation, no explanation. When confronted they say: "look at all the new facilities construction." Which isn't correct: Bank loans should be financing construction not parents. And our fees should not pay the bank loans: their profits do! They say they are non-profit but have failed to show us how this works and the cash flow for our funding support. The school showed a 45% profit last year, yet still they want more money from parents. This year has been a financial disaster for many parents, but they have no empathy. They have raised fees unevenly across grade levels from 15 to 20%. Unconscionable, greedy owners. We warn those who stay: Fee rises will continue.. Review in 2020: Lanna has been a good school to date, with mature well trained teachers. Other than a few bumps, we’ve been happy with Lanna education. The problems with Lanna right now are finances. They increase tuition fees without explanation and justification. They’re planning new secondary campus, having purchased land already; again without discussion with parents. Then we get hit with tuition fee increases. The worry now is also if we have to return to online classes, what will fees be? This hasn’t been addressed. I feel somewhat like an ATM machine for the school planning and future development, but no input to the vision. Lanna needs to have a parent meeting with management to review tuition increases, the Capitol fee which was unexpected, and the lunch fees.

The pandemic COVID19 has brought significant disruption around the world, however Lanna International School does not recognize the difficulties that parents are experiencing in Thailand. They act like a private business with only objective is PROFIT, despite that parents are facing a lot of uncertainties, are struggle financially, have lost their jobs, are in debts, and are worried about their child’s education. In response to the current crisis, Lanna International school should instead act in a positive matter to support and help families through this difficult time and should announce to waive tuition fees for the upcoming academic. But instead to support their community affected by the crisis, Lanna International School had just published the highest fee increase of their history in 2021-22. They even did a double price policy for : students starting primary Year 1 increase of +20.26% and students starting secondary Year 7 increase of +14.78%. . Need to remind that Lanna International School had added also in recent year an additional expense Annual Capital Fee of 10,000 THB and they also do not provide anymore laptop to student which is equivalent to 20,000 - 25,000 THB, they have no limit in changing the school fee structure to their advantages and they DO NOT care of their community.

Lanna is the best school in Chiang Mai compared to APIS and NIS etc (Not looking at their campus of course) however that is not what my review is about... (中国家长可以翻译来读这片文章, 有一段中文写在评论的最后面) The school has been talking about expanding and moving to a new campus for the secondary kids for years but haven't even started building the campus, first it was the primary kids and now Lanna is working on the kindergarten campus, and still Lanna show no signs of starting the secondary campus. Some teachers (not all) are unprofessional when writing reports, there have been cases when, the teacher wrote the wrong name for a student in the report cards, leading to confusion for students on whether the comments are about them or not, or when a teacher has wrote the exact same comment for three years in a row, making it look like they don't put effort into teaching students. During online period, some students were just left to self study or even give free time during their classes and teachers would leave their students in the waiting room if zoom calls and blame them for being late after they finally let them in the calls. The school is unsafe in terms of security, there are less than ten security cameras on the entire campus and the fire exists have two locked doors in front of it, and what seems like one of those metal gates that you pull down on the other side. It would be quite difficult for students and teachers to escape if there was to be a fire. The school lunch is already made during break and is served to students two periods after ( so technically it's not fresh lunch, it's been sitting there for more than a hour) , it doesn't matter if the lunch is unlimited, it tastes like it's been fished out of the toilet. The food is also unsanitary, the lunch ladies pick up food from the floor for students to eat, and hair has been found in the school lunch over the years. The bathrooms in the humanities block have to be shared between girls, boys and teachers and staffs. The bathrooms are right outside the classrooms and hallways, they literally share a wall resulting in the feeling of lacking privacy. The swimming pool. I would not be surprised if I see the Lochness monster swimming in it. I can barley see a foot ahead of me with my head underwater, the water is so green and murkey it would be a good habitat for alligators if it wasn't for the insane amount of chlorine they pour in it. 学校里有学生在厕所里抽烟也只能在Lanna 碰见这种情况。真的不知道老师们是怎么教育孩子的,很多家长也不配合孩子学习,没有学习的环境。

I used to study in this school from Year 9 some of the teachers were very nice to me, but the other teachers made me feel more stressed which made my mental health worst. A lot of unnecessary homework during winter break. Some classes were not engaging. To top that off students here especially the secondary students are so bad all they do is gossip and bring other students down. Overall I wasn’t satisfied.

Our children had an excellent experience at Lanna International School. Lanna’s teachers are first-rate and exceptionally dedicated, and the admin there was very caring and supportive. The students were kind and welcoming and our children experienced no bullying there. This was in stark contrast to the absolutely horrendous experience both of our children had with bullying (and no admin support) at the flashy and hypocritical Panyaden School. We are so happy we transferred our kids to Lanna School - their down-to-earth, academically focused, and genuinely heart-filled approach was a welcome relief and a wonderful breath of fresh air!

Our two kids attend the Primary School and they are receiving an outstanding education. The teachers are incredibly talented and great at what they do, there are plenty of extra curricular opportunities and the school facilities are continuously being invested in to ensure a modern and supportive learning environment. The community is extremely friendly and our family have made some fabulous friends here.

Lanna International School is an excellent school with highly qualified, supportive teachers and a warm atmosphere. The school provides a strong academic foundation as well as community-building extracurricular activities. My two boys love the school.

Lanna is an outstanding school with extremely dedicated teachers, a very high academic standard, a great principal and a really upbeat atmosphere. We couldn’t be happier, and nor could our kids. It’s definitely the best option for high school in Chiangmai.

Great place to go if you enjoy unnecessary rules, an annoying principal and an overall bad attitude from teachers. It is overpriced and I have not recived a decent education thus far. I must be really dumb for my age.

Lanna offers British curriculum, high academic standards, qualified teachers, and range of extra-curricular activities from drama, STEM, and athletics. Tuition is comparable to other private schools and less expensive than nearby schools offering IB or American curriculum. My daughter enjoys her friends, teachers and being part of this community.
