“Phra
Chutadhuj
Rajasthan”
is
the
only
island
palace
in
Thailand.
Built
during
the
reign
of
King
Rama
V,
construction
of
various
residence
buildings
began
in
1889
and
was
used
as
the
royal
residence
of
King
Chulalongkorn
and
the
royal
family.
Until
a
dispute
occurred
between
Thailand
and
France
(Incident
R.S.
112)
in
which
troops
invaded
Koh
Sichang
and
closed
the
Gulf
of
Thailand.
The
construction
of
the
royal
palace
and
various
palaces
therefore
ceased,
and
later
in
the
year
1892,
various
buildings
were
ordered
to
be
demolished.
Go
build
somewhere
else.
Since
then,
the
palace
at
Koh
Sichang
has
been
dissolved.
Currently
on
display
as
a
museum,
archaeological
site
and
historical
tourist
attraction,
Phra
Chudadhuj
Rajthan
is
located
at
Ko
Sichang,
Chonburi
Province.
It
used
to
be
the
summer
palace
of
King
Chulalongkorn.
After
the
critical
incident
of
R.S.
112,
it
ceased
to
be
a
royal
area.
