The most artistic place to be when visiting Thessaloniki! Be there in only 15 minutes walking from the city center, and enjoy a fantastic stroll by the sea and by the white tower of Thessaloniki! The place with the artistic umbrellas is great both at day or night! Enjoy the view of the sea at the sunset time , or enjoy the wonderful umbrella lights during the night!

It surely ia a must visit in Thesaloniki, because the place looks fantastic in photos. Be ready to wait a few moments, before it is your turn to take photographs. It lools so much better in photos than in reality.

It turned a landmark within a landmark of Thessaloniki! This is the umbrellas installation by Greek Artist George Zongolopoulos. (Umbrellas, 1997, stainless steel, height 13 m). This was one of the busiest places in the city and now the umbrellas are sandwiched between the White tower and the Statue of Alexander the Great!

Great placement along the board walk, and a nice location to take pictures even during sunset. Relatively close to many important landmarks which also cause this location itself to be slightly underwhelming. Easy to get to, enjoy, and take pictures, but not significant enough considering many great landmarks and locations the city of Thessaloniki has to offer. Not exactly a must, but a nice place to stop by and relax. With correct time of day, you can probably pull off great pictures, however, viewing in person won't have much of an impression.

Beautiful sculpture, and there is a water fountain next to it that children can play with the water. We were there twice, just the sunset scenery so beautiful. And near the evening, there are small vendors selling roasted sweet corn. It was really tasty.

"Umbrellas": the sculpture by George Zongolopoulos is illuminated at night and lit up by the sun during the day. It sits on the waterfront in Thessaloniki. A pretty place to hang out, by day or by night!

This modern sculpture, which you come across while walking on the beach, seems to appear in a completely different way at different times of the day. While it may look gorgeous in the right weather and at the right time, also seem trivial or even simple on a wrong day. I recommend those who want to take photos act according to these tips.

Nice attraction in Thessaloniki! Spoted umbrellas at night and also in daytime. At night looks better but it is crowded, most of the times. There are free boats tour, close to the umbrella. You can take a ride for free and you have to pay only for the drinks. It will take you on the, around 20-30’.

"The Umbrellas" by Zogolopoulos in Thessaloniki is a marvel in its simplicity. At first glance, one might wonder how mere umbrellas on a pole could evoke such profound emotion. Yet, with its impeccable angling and placement against the mesmerizing backdrop of the sea, it’s a testament to the magic of minimalist art. This sculpture serves as a poignant reminder never to underestimate the beauty in life's simplest elements. Just as "The Umbrellas" uncovers beauty in the mundane, in my 20+ years of personal training and life coaching, I've come to realize the power of consistent, simple efforts in sculpting one's life and well-being. For those on a journey to discover the profound beauty within themselves and their potential, guidance can illuminate the path. 🌆🌂🌊💪🏼

Touristic place with an art of metallic umbrellas. It is located by the port, around 15 mins walking from main square and next to a water fountain. Not as much as expected.

This is one of my favorites in Thessaloniki as it has a great sea view on one side and fountain and city view on other side. It is very close to white tower too.

Possibly one of the most iconic hanging out and relaxing spots at the seaside. All you need is a warm sun or a full moon. The sea is literally next under your feet! 🌊

A true good visit. Get a e-scooter and follow the whole promanade. It takes a about 45 min and 5km, very nice experience and ride. The sun tingles, the breeze refreshes and the sound of the waves relaxes.

Very eye catching and unique structure right at the edge of the ocean. Great place to take photos and announce that you are in Thessaloniki, Greece. Visit twice, at dark and in day light, seems like a different place. Must visit when in Thessaloniki. It’s an open place, doesn’t require any ticket or queue.

The sculpture Umbrellas by Giorgos Zongolopoulos is one of the artist's best-known pictorial motifs. We find umbrellas placed on the New Beach of Thessaloniki, at the height of the statue of Alexander the Great near the Makedonia Pallas hotel, at the entrance of the Macedonian Museum of Contemporary Art, as well as at the entrance of the Old Psychiko (in the Lighthouse), an area that has been associated with Zongolopoulos as there was his house, which today is the seat of the Foundation of the same name that he founded shortly before his death and to which he bequeathed his entire collection and the intellectual property rights of his work.

Beautiful at sunset ot later when it is all lit up. You are probably not going to get a picture of it without including a ton people you don't know. Try going early in the morning, sunrise. Anything from 7pm to midnight will have too many people.

Beautiful modern art installation in the sea front of Thessaloniki. Art evokes different emotions for everyone. For me, this evokes flying and freedom. The art is well-maintained and will have a spectacular change in color with the changing time of the day.

It's a classic spot in the city and one of the modern sightseeings there too. It's a nice spot to hang out and take some really nice pictures. There is also a canteen near by to eat something or drink something

"Umbrellas" is a sculpture by George Zongolopoulos. Installed in front of shore, it has become a typical place for taking a picture of yourself hanging at it.

One of the biggest (and at the same time, few) monuments in Thessaloniki. Always full of tourists so you need to be skilled a bit to take a nice selfie with the umbrellas.

  • 5/5 Ştefan C. 2 years ago on Google
Beautiful city. Good for a night staying, but that’s all. You can see it in just few hours. Good restaurants in the downtown area with good food and not so high prices.

  • 5/5 Pan P. 2 years ago on Google
Great sculpture by George Zongolopoulos, located on the city’s waterfront boulevard. It was constructed in 1997 and it’s height reaches 13 meters. Although I’ve seen it only during the day it is impressive in all parts of the day and night (as it is illuminated). The umberellas are one of the most photographed sculptures in the world and no wonder.

Such a romantic nice looking monument. A must see for tourists and great for photography. Wish they were more umbrellas though.

A wonderful sight specially at night by the waterfront of Thessaloniki.

  • 4/5 P1gasus 1 year ago on Google
It is nicely located next to the sea. Doesn't seem as much during the day except the design of it which is unique, so I would suggest passing by it during the night. Many people gather there also. During the night it really gets better as lights placed on the ground light it up in different colors which can change.

We went, we admired, we took photos. These umbrellas are a pretty cool sculpture which is quite popular with tourists seeking photos. About 10 minutes walk from the white tower along the sea front.

Umbrellas fit a city that well? Greek sculptor Zongolopoulos brought it to the city in 1997. "The Zongolopoulos Umbrellas" is one of the must-see works in Thessaloniki
