When I first went here it was great. Then after a few vets left it went down hill. The one vet was afraid of my dog as she is a pretty large dog. She also didn’t help my dogs anxiety as she asked me to “put her into a headlock” so she could give her injections. When you call sometimes you get an answer (sometimes it’s not the friendliest voice) other times you get “disconnected” The only plus was it was close to my house. I have gone to another vet which is amazing! I’m only leaving a review a few months later just so I could make sure I did the right thing and leave. Look elsewhere if possible sometimes it’s worth spending a bit more for better care…

Horrible experiences at this vet clinic, never able to get an answer. We had an emergency with our one family dog and had to rush her to the clinic and they turned us away at the door because they were "too busy" while my dog was visibly bleeding from her mouth. She passed not too long after since we weren't able to get her to a different clinic in time.

Does anyone even work here? I’ve called about 20 times over the last week and not one single time did someone pick up the phone. And all WELL before 6pm (closing time). Have never actually taken my dog here but I can’t imagine you’d ever be able to even get an appointment if you even desperately needed one. If they ignore the phones to this extent… what else do they ignore???

Something is seriously wrong here! All of the vets are leaving. Two vets left a year ago. Must be management is difficult to work with which is why they can't retain Vets. They have a great vet there Rachel Manjos but she is leaving as they all eventually do. Management - time for self reflection! Dr. Lowery is the only one who has remained but she is easily flustered and doesn't like answering questions you may want to ask. She replies she doesn't know!! If the vet doesn't know - who does?

Absolutely horrible customer service. You can NEVER get through to anyone. I’ve called more than 12 times in a row on multiple occasions with no response to any of my calls. I had to switch to a completely different vet because I could never book an appointment for my dogs because no one answers the phone. It is truly unbelievable. I can’t imagine if my dogs were having an emergency. We are so grateful to have a vet where the reception actually answers the phone after the first ring. Would NOT recommend anyone to this vet clinic.

They used to be great! I don’t know what happened. The person answering phones is completely rude and dismissive. Our dog would also have died due to them dismissing her need for treatment two years ago. She had to have emergency surgery. Had we have not taken her somewhere else we would not have her with us. They never transferred her records as requested at that time. Two years later calling to inquire why the records were not sent.. complete rudeness on the other line. How is the case when we PAY for vet care? Completely unacceptable.

A vet that CARES! I've been to a few different vets with my dog and was not impressed (lack of care, empathy and compassion for what the dog was going though) It's been 10+ years since I've been to thorold vet and the experience has not changed one bit. Always kind, helpful, knowledgeable and compassionate. Thank you for caring for my dog when she was in need!! Worth the wait.

I don’t know how or when this clinic went downhill big time. They never answer the phones and no answering machine so you can leave a message. That’s too much work for the receptionist to listen to concerned pet owners messages. The receptionist wouldn’t tell me her name so I could not report her for treating me this way she did. She was very rude and disrespectful while yelling at me on the phone. I clearly made sn appointment a week ago for immunizations snd flea and tick medicine. I was told to come anytime next week and it would be ready. I called before travelling out of town to find out the new vet wouldn’t take one minute to approve flea and tick medicine that he’s been getting for years at this clinic. When I asked who the manager was she refused to tell me that too and said nobody is in charge here and we have no manger and then she hung up on me!!! This clinic needs to be reported and they need a new receptionist’s as well as better vets like Dr Flood who I had for many years. You will not get through to this clinic either as they intentionally don’t answer the phones hence why they don’t have an answering machine because it would stay full and none get listened to. This is how much they care about their patients and their health. If you want good care for your fur baby don’t go here because you’ll be greatly disappointed at how any human could treat someone the way they do here. If they treat me this way imagine how the animals are treated.

Went there today for the first and last time. I had to put my furbaby down and was so appauled by the treatment of the vet. A few of the staff were very kind (except the grumpy older lady who answers the phone and gives misinformation so you will spend more money). However, to say the vet had little tact or sense of professionalism, is to say the least. He must have skipped the part in school about compassion or diplomacy. I can understand that this is likely the most unpleasant part of his career...but this man was just plain rude and treated us as though we were taking up his time. I can only omagine how he may treat animals in his back room...believe the reviews and do not go to this clinic if you are hoping for some dignity or tact. Disgusting. I do thank the couple of his staff who wete very kind and compassionate...unfortunately they probably have to deal with the fall out from his behaviour. I didnt need him to hold my hand...but how about some old fashioned kindness? Wont get that from him...and if you still choose to take a chance...ask every question about your options.

Great animal care, would give 5 stars if the front desk was as consistently good as the animal care. Take your pets here if you live in the Niagara region

They do not answer their phone, I have been calling for a few days and when I finally did get through they could not find me in their system. I asked if I could book an appointment and they said they are not booking new clients until January, I was very frustrated as I was not a new client. I spoke to a person who works at a pet store and even they said this place is awful - I do not recommend!

They used to be good. I'm not sure what's happened to this place, but in the last few years it has definitely gone down hill. We could never get through on their phone. We had to find a new doctor for our dog. He is now being cared for the way he deserves to be cared for. Unfortunately, due yo our experience the last few years, I will no longer recommend this clinic to anyone.

Brought my bearded dragon here & they gave me the absolute best care , it took a little bit to get an appointment but i understand because they are busy!! When i got there everyone was so nice and welcoming, The Vet and assistants gave me the absolute best care and knowledge too. they sent me home with a huge instruction package for everything to do with Bearded Dragons and told me everything i need to do to help my girl! i will never bring my lizard to another vet. thank you guys for you care and knowledge ❤️ would most definitely recommend this place if you have an Exotic Pet! i wouldn’t trust to bring my exotic pet anywhere else

Thorold Vet has been my vet office for almost 20 years and was the vet for my family dogs when I was a child. Staff is fantastic, prices are fair and Vets are very knowledgeable. Recently I lost my first dog, my best friend for nearly 16 years and the end of life care she recieved here was wonderful.

Our two goldens have gone to Thorald Vet most their lives. Dr. Flood is their vet and is always timely, professional, analytical but genuinely caring. After loosing one of them last year she reviewed the emergency vet reports with us which helped us get closure and this past week when our second golden retriever went downhill we were able to get in twice in the same day, the first as an appointment and when she degraded more quickly when we went home Dr. Flood saw her a second time to lay her to rest. The vet technicians at this clinic are wonderful. On more than one occasion a technician named Gabree made quick work of xrays and bloodwork with our senior and anxious and VERY LARGE dogs. Gabree helped us carry our girl in on her last day. She is 75lbs and on other visits been very kind to us and our doggies. The clinic in recent times can be hard to get a hold of but Dr. Flood and the technicians are the best and kindest we have encountered. We thank them for their expert care and advice.

after using this vet for our 3 pets we are leaving. we used a virtual vet apt when they were unable to see us and told us to call elsewhere. the vet sent the RX over, thorold refused to fill it, refused to have a vet tech do a clip and clean, and suddenly had an apt for us, in 3 days, which would be a full exam fee and vet visit....more worried about their pocket book than the actual animal. found a clinic closer to come willing to take the RX and us as new patients and get him treated today at 4. terrible customer service. place has gone down hill, don't let the new fancy building fool you.
