Visited at lunchtime on Monday. Not many eateries were open on that day. Quiet and comfortable place. Fast service. Food was exceptional. We ordered a salad with squid and chicken schnitzel. Will certainly visit this place again when travelling through Timaru. Thank you!

Had dinner there tonight with a group of special friends. The service and staff were excellent and friendly and the food was 150%. Absolutely reccomend to future diners

I read the reviews and decided to come here but it didn’t impress me much. The service from staff was poor and there were no regular take options for a solo walk- in I had to sit in the dark on a high chair or in the light with another solo diner? When I moved Benares I couldn’t see the staff just watched me and didn’t offer help. The dinner was nice but my wilted greens were over cooked and I felt it odd that it was beef cheek on pasta with cream fraise - felt miss like glorified stroganoff. Very expensive for what it was - I wasn’t that fussed. My work budget was $40 so I couldn’t even order a drink. The one good thing was that I asked for extra sauce & they got that quickly for me & the wait wasn’t too long for my meal.

I usually tend to do positive reviews but I really wasn't impressed with this place. I ordered the salmon, I LOVE salmon, I mean come on! Anyways, the photo I took looks pretty good but the portion was tiny for the price, the skin was not descaled and I had a side of green olives with it, which had the pips still in them! They were hidden so it was hard to tell and I hurt my tooth on one. The olives were also extremely salty, and I'm a woman who loves salt, so that's saying a lot. The saving graces for a three star were that they refunded me for the olives and the sauce that came with the salmon was amazeballs. On another note, I definitely wouldn't take kids here, it was not kid friendly at all, aside from some colouring pictures...hey, they tried

Enjoyed their brekkie options. We stopped by this place from on our way back to Christchurch. The place has very good charm and vibes and the service is excellent If you are a vegan(like me) or a vegetarian, ask them for vegan/veggie option. It's not advertised but they could customise it for your dietary requirements. That goes for people who don't take pork either

Great gluten free options. Staff understanding of allergy restrictions for someone with coeliac.Recommend trying the GF French toast option was amazing. Would go back again when passing through. 🙂

Wonderful place to eat. Fantastic food and great wine selection. The staff staff really go out of their way to look after you. Totally recommend that you eat here. We had the venison.

We popped in for a beer and some food in between meals. Such a warm welcome and amazing experience. Great snacks menu - highly recommend the trailer trash chips and jug of gravy. Great offering of beers and banter from our lovely waitress. Our first time in Timaru and will come back on our next visit.

We had a fantastic time here recently for a small family wedding. The food was terrific and the staff were friendly and obliging and helped make the atmosphere fun. Highly recommended.

Arrived without a reservation on Saturday night but seated in about 20 mins. I had the venison and it was fantastic! One of the best meals I have ever tasted! Carol had the prawn and salad entrees as a main and was similarly impressed. Highly recommend!

Best meal in Timaru.Kind workers and good service too.Also has kids meals and family of 4 ordered 3 meals and one kids meal we were struggling to finish.Definitely go back for weekend branch.

You are in Timaru and want the best food you had in ages? Then go to The Oxfort! Went there twice back to back for dinner and it was fantastic. Do not miss the desserts, especially Crème Brûlée. Everything we got was really tasty. If you can, make a reservation.

After several great meals lunch today was disappointing. We both had Nasi Goreng with Prawns and the meals were overcooked and many burnt bits throughout resulting in a bitter and burnt taste. The Duty Manager was advised when we left and we hope that the Chef was told as the meals should not have been served up.

Yummy food ! had a main...Magou Beef Bolognese and the Rhubarb Chocolate pudding ....both were absolutely delicious...perfectly cooked...and I'm hard to please ! Don't live in Timaru otherwise this would be my go-to when eating out. Well Done guys

I took my wife to the Oxford restaurant for her birthday. I had requested to present my wife with a very special bottle of wine? The staff were more than accommodating and made it a very memorable experience. As for the food, our meals were absolutely exquisite 💯🍷🍾

The Oxford in Timaru. Well I have to tell you this restaurant is absolutely 5 stars for service and food and atmosphere. What else can I say but go there and see for yourself. I would give it 6 stars but unfortunately it only goes to 5 on this review. As Tina Turner once sung SIMPLY THE BEST

Great meal with my daughter and son-in-law. Food was great, good choices on the menu. Will go there again
