One of the old temples for lord Siva. Beautiful architecture. Huge temple. You have got to go in the morning and experience the quite temple with just the chantings for the God. Decently clean temple. Would be good to read up on the temple and all the deities to see and see them and pray to them. The music hall is a must see. Will leave you in awe to see the way the pillars make the 64 notes of to the Veena. There is a temple elephant who is really beautiful. Going to the temple between 6 to 7.30 in the morning is ideal and you will find parking and the temple less crowded. This temple is not wheelchair accessible. Those elder who will have trouble climbing stairs.

Divine. Temple owns the architectural marvel of musical pillars and other carvings which look like real life. Must visit the temple. Temple timings are 5:30am-12pm and 4pm-9pm. There is a luggage and shoe keeping center nearby.

This is one of the classic and typical Temples of Tamil Nadu and exemplifies its culture. Lord Shiva known as Swami Nelliappar and compatriot Lord Gandhimathi Amman are the resting deities. Built in stone which is the innate and traditional way temples are built during olden and golden days. The stone sculptures and stone pillars a Exceptional. Marvelous. Treat to the eyes and mind . One can feel and immerse in the bhakthi and devotional mood when inside the temple. Very good transport facilities available. Must visit.

The Nellaiappar Temple is Hindu Temple dedicated to the deity Shiva, located in Tirunelveli, a city in the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Shiva is worshipped as Nellaiappar (also called Venuvananathar) represented by the lingam and his consort Parvati is depicted as Kanthimathi Amman. The deity Vishnu is also worshipped here, having witnessed their wedding according to legend. Hence, this temple is regarded as an abhimana kshetram of Vaishnavism. The temple is located on the northern banks of Thamirabarani River in Tirunelveli district. We had visited during the weekend Sunday. There wasn't much crowd. Main Sanctum Nellaiappar is very powerful, you will feel positive vibes. And his consort called as Kanthimathi Amman. You get archanai ticket for 5/- bucks per person. For commuting to this temple if any one staying in hotel stays , I would suggest to go by Local bus. Here auto driver's charge around minimum 100-150 bucks depending on your stay location. Here the priest don't act rudely, very polite, we get ample time worship the God. They don't rush things in this temple. That's really good. The sculptures in this temple is just mind-blowing. Highly recommend Om Namah Shivaya🙏

Nellai Ayyappa Swamy temple is the icon of Tirunelveli. This temple is for lord shiva and Parvati. Historical temple where everyone needs to visit along with their family. One of the beautiful thing this you have a huge pond inside the temple itself and followed by a huge elephant where you can feed them bananas and sugarcane that was the coolest part .

Good Experience - The sanctums of the temple and the gopurams were constructed by Nindraseer Nedumaran (Koon Pandian) who reigned in the 7th century AD. The mani mandapam with its famous musical pillar was also likely built by Nindraseer Nedumaran. The flag stand near the Nandi was set up in 1155.[2]Later Pandya, Kulasekara Pandyan I built the outer wall of the Thirunelveli Nellaiappar temple, in 13th century.

It is one of the very big temples in Trunelveli. I really loved the art and architecture of this temple. The art was eye catching and very difficult to make it. I was really fascinated and amazed by our ancestors work. I would recommend people to come here and get pride in what our ancestors created for us!!!! The government should spend some money to fix some issues here and improve the cleanliness of the temple ❤️

One of the best temples I have ever seen. Very very big temple and has separate SANNIDHI for every main God. Nellayappar and Ambaal have separate sannidhis. Architectural marvel inside the temple I would say. All the sculptures were stunning and the pillars inside the lord shiva sannidhi was amazing! Would require at-least 1 hour time to see the temple fully. So, plan accordingly and spend your time slowly. Temple closes at 12pm and opens at 4pm. We went there by 4 and came out by 5:30.. Overall wonderful and divine experience 😍 Om Nava Shivaya 🙏🙏🙏

Such a beautiful temple visited ever, an ancient temple and it has lot of sculptures and beautifully painted outside. Musical pillar and Shivas temple is so unique here and people love to visit this temple. It's surrounded by shopping streets and halwa shops along with smaller parking area. You will see many agoris and saamiyar around the temple and city. Must watch temple list in tamilnadu. You will be filled with love and positive energy for sure.

A very good temple, with a very large area, extremely intricate designs and sculptures. It is one of the best place to visit in thirunelveli as it has an extremely good carvings, idols and atmosphere. This place's serene environment help a person in detaching itself from the regular fast-paced life. A highly devotional environment and a lot of different gods make this place worth visiting. The 4 star is given due to the attitude and greed of the priests, else this place is worth even more than 5 stars.

Went in early morning for kalasandhi poojai. A great view. Not much crowd today. This temple is a good example of ancient architecture. High spacious roof, way for good ventilation. Planned well. Always delightful to be here.

Arulmigu Nellaiappar Temple, also known as the Tirunelveli Temple, is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati located in Tirunelveli city of Tamil Nadu, India. The temple is believed to have been built in the 7th century CE by the Pandya kings, but it underwent several renovations and additions during the rule of various dynasties such as the Cholas, Vijayanagara Empire, and Nayaks. The temple complex covers an area of 14 acres and is surrounded by a high compound wall with four entrance towers or gopurams in four cardinal directions. The main deity of the temple is Lord Shiva, who is worshipped as Nellaiappar or Kuzhalaivannan (one who wears a flower on his matted hair) and his consort Goddess Parvati, who is worshipped as Kanthimathi Amman. The temple has several halls and shrines dedicated to various deities such as Lord Muruga, Lord Vinayaka, and Lord Dakshinamurthy. The temple also houses a sacred tank called Sivagangai, which is believed to have healing properties. Throughout its history, the Nellaiappar Temple has been a center of Shaivism and has attracted devotees from all over India. The temple has also been patronized by several rulers and philanthropists who have made significant contributions to its maintenance and development. Today, the Arulmigu Nellaiappar Temple is one of the most important pilgrimage sites in Tamil Nadu and attracts thousands of devotees every year, especially during festivals such as Mahashivaratri and Arudra Darshanam.

Visited Nellaippar on the way from Tiruchendur, able to spend only a few hours. But really amazing architecture, both wooden and stone designs are still stunning in the look of these many years. Planning to take my family to visit and spend the whole day to see this beautiful and spiritual place. Even if you're fond of God or not, we have to see in our lifetime 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Nallaiappar swamiand Kanthimadhi Tayaar temple in Tiruneveli is an awesome Shivaite temple. Probably the sabctul was built in 7th century by Pandya king to which the Cholas, Cheras,Pallavas and Nayaka have added making it one of the largest and beautiful Shiva temple. The surprise part us the large, beautiful ornamental idol of Lord Vishu in sleeping position immediately next to main deities gudi. Apparently Shiva and Parvathi got married here and Vishnu as being Parvathis brother after attending the marriage was resting. It's the Tamara copper sabha, one of the 5 sabhas where Shiva has performed his cosmic dance. The sculpture in the entrance and vasantha mandapa is so realistic that it takes away your breath. A true treasure of our culture. Donating vibhuti is very auspicious.

Shri Nellaiappar temple in Trinelveli is one of the oldest and biggest Shiva temples in Tamilnadu. The main sanctum was built by Pandiya king in 7th century and further additions and expansions were made by various kings. The present temple is spread over 14 acres with large separate sannidhi for Shri Gandhimathi Ambal on the southern side. There are two temple tanks. Nandhi in the main entrance is large and beautiful. The pragarams are large and majestic. The temple represents 'thamara sabha' (copper) of cosmic dance of Lord Nataraja

This Hindhu temple is one of the structural marvel which is still showing our ancestors skills and perfection in calculations about dimensions even there's no technologies available for design and to see the previews of actual plan. Each steps I really astonished and get goosebumps while seeing the perfection in sculptures and given lively soul to wach stones. And finally seen our great King of Lord Shri.Nellayappar and ambal shri Gandhimadhi. In our lifetime definitely we've to do dharshan atleast once. Om Namasivaya 🕉

We went in at 6am ......the temple was spick and span. People were there but the temple was not crowded. There are a lot of stories as to how Lord Siva got this name. The one which I connected most to was that they was a famine here and at that time Lord Shiva converted sand grains into food grains there by giving him the name Nellaiappar.

Great temple 🙏 Mesmerizing architecture.. can’t imagine how did they manage to build such a wonderful temple. Don’t forget to experience the musical 🎶 pillars just outside of the main temple. Keep the ears close to pillars and tap the pillars with palm ✋ then you hear the magical sounds 🙌

The temple complex covers an area of 14.5 acres (5.9 ha), measuring 850 feet long and 756 feet wide, and all its shrines are enclosed with concentric rectangular walls, with a massive Rajagopuram.[5] Sangili Mandapam built on 1647 by vadamalaiyappa pillayan connects the Ganthimathi Amman and Nellaiyappar temples.[6] The temple has a number of shrines, with those of Swamy Nellaiappar and his consort Sri Kanthimathi Ambal being the most prominent. The Nandi mandapam has a fairly big statue of Nandi (the bull God), similar to those at Tanjore and Rameswaram . The unique feature of the temple is the 'Mani manadapam' located near the nandi mandapam with two giant pillars carved out of a single stone and each one is having 48 sub pillars which produce musical notes when struck. Tamil poet says that the pillars here are a combination of the Shruti Gana Laya types. Other mandapams in the temple include Oonjal Mandapam and the 1000 pillared hall.

One of the Best temple in Tamilnadu. This is the gem of tirunelveli.Amazing architecture with stunning details in every nook and corner of temple. One of the must visit temple in Tamilnadu. I've been astonished by the beauty of the art work. One of the important highlight is the temple constitution is highly precision by which there is no need of artificial light inside the temple. Sunlight is passing through every required places with a rythmuc pattern. There are musical stone pillar located near the sannidhi of both Swamy Nellaiappar and Amman Sannidhi which gives multiple rythmic sounds when it is touched with required pressure.
