It was my first time walking in Okutama, so I stopped by the Okutama Visitor Center (^∇^) Autumn leaves in Okutama🍁, information and guidebook Also, you can't take it out with you, but there are many books that you can read for free. I always make plans, but this was very helpful 👍 The riverside area, which can be reached within a few minutes from the visitor center, was also very nice 🥰

While driving to Lake Okutama and Hikawa Valley, I wanted to find out information about bears, which has been a hot topic lately, so I stopped by here first. There are 6 parking spaces behind the building a little up the hill on the left as you face the visitor center. Yes (free). When I went inside, the lady in charge said to me, ``We have maps of the surrounding area,'' so after I borrowed the restroom (which was very clean!), I went to get a map and found out about bear sightings. When I asked him questions about things like driving and where to drive, he was very kind and gave me detailed information. By the way, when I took a walk from the mouth of Okutama Lake in the Ogawa-nai Zone to Happoiwa Observation Deck, which was listed on the guide map for Lake Okutama, I caught a glimpse of a monkey...but I was glad it wasn't a bear. This was my first time visiting a tourist information facility like this, and I'm glad I used it. 2023/11/2

A solid tourist information center with a somewhat impressive building. If you call them, they will gladly tell you about the status of the mountain trail. Bouldering experiences and simple information about Okutama are also on display.

They kindly and carefully guide us around Okutama and give us maps. Plus, the exhibits of Okutama's animals and nature are also great. Please note that there is no parking lot.

You can see stuffed animals of the mammals that live in Okutama. There is also a reconstructed specimen of the skeleton of an Asiatic black bear on display, which is very well done. If you go up the slope next to the facility, there is a parking lot for several cars, so it is convenient if you come by car. As you enter the 1st floor entrance, there is a bouldering wall immediately to your left. There is a mattress on the floor and a harness from above to prevent falling, so even children and beginners may be able to enjoy it with peace of mind.

There is no product sales, only information guidance. There aren't even vending machines inside the building.

I stopped by and found out that the parking lot is free, but I didn't notice it until I went up the hill behind the building. Inside, explanations of Okutama's nature and stuffed animals of Okutama are on display.
