Used to be a great place to hang-out and have good food. But what we experienced today, is not that great. Food is the same, good taste, but the whole interior and ambiance of the restaurant has changed. Now there's a huge line and long queue even to get your seats. And then there's 30min seating limit. Seems like, they're going more for take-out approach than good old dine-in. Anyway, one star cropped, let's see what happens next.

Found the place by luck and we were blown away by the food. Simple no fuss restaurant with casual decor. The service is quick efficient and smooth. The Sambhar is authentic full of flavour and super delicious. The Vada and Idli so soft and fresh, dunked in Sambhar, a match made in heaven. The mint onion dosa was generous with the mint chutney and bursting with taste and flavour. We would definitely come back to eat as the food is out of this world. Simple fresh authentic and yet so good.

Visited this place on recommendation of one of my friend. Earlier my favourite for South Indian food was Saravanaa bhawan but after visiting this place I will always have to think twice where to head.. Subhiksha the best part the quantity as well as quality of food, along with that the service was very fast. The best thing about this place and which I personally believe should be appreciated is that After settling my bill I paid them tip in cash and they refused to accept tip mentioning we don’t except tips. Which for me in GTA was strange!!

Vegetarian south Indian cuisine. The food was average. The dosa was half crispy and half soft with a thick batter. The chutneys were lacking in flavour. There is a 30 minute seating policy.

This place is heaven for south Indian food lovers! The dishes are so wholesome as well as very competitive prices. We ordered 3 dishes and paid about 30 bucks with taxes. This place is busy, we waited for about 30mins to get a table to dine in. But the service is quick and staff is friendly. Super tasty food!!

Dosa is awesome. Had a good taste of south India after a very long time. This place is crowded and once you try the food here, you will come to know why ! Usually you will have to wait for some time to get a place for dine in. Ambiance is not that good though. Go there for food. Staff are good as well.

The place is overhyped because the seating capacity is less. Longer wait times to get seated has created a fake demand for this restaurant. They serve authentic South Indian food (meaning less spices, and traditional recipe). For people who are Jain, the sambar has onions and that's a downside. It took us 35 minutes to get a table for 2 people on Thursday evening. This is the only traditional South Indian restaurant in Scarborough. But if you come towards weat end of GTA i.e Brampton, Mississauga or Etobicoke you'll find several similar restaurants with no waiting time. The food was good overall. Serving size is decent. Accompaniments like Sambar, chutney and green chillies are extra charge. Vegetarian Restaurant in Scarborough. Dosa in Scarborough. South Indian food in Scarborough.

If you are looking for a classic south indian restaurant. This is it. The food is so so good, the service is great. All vegetarian and a variety of options on the menu. We had the ghee gunpowder dose (so crispy 💯), Mysore masala dosa (not super spicy which was good for me 😅), idlis (pillow soft) and idli vada sambar (piping hot and just really good). They've changed the seating arrangement from the last time we had gone and now there is a sofa/booth type seating in the restaurant. Which was a nice change from earlier. Highly recommend if you're looking for south Indian food.

Not a very fancy but very popular eating joint serving only vegetarian South Indian food items. They serve variety of snacks and some meal items. They have a very long menu list. Seating is limted and they don't take advance reservations, so you have to go there and put your name on the waiting list. In peak hours and on holidays the wait time is around one hour average. They advise you to finish your eating in 30 minutes so that those waiting can be let in and served sooner. The items taste good, the staff is courteous, service is fast. However the place is not warm enough. We visited it this week and every time the door was opened a cold blast hits you if you are siting across the door and also makes the place uncomfortable. Barring that, the placenis worth visiting definitely 👍

Very tasty food. One of the best dosas I've ever had and I have had dosas at many south indian restaurants. The owner personally visited out at most of the tables to as about food. Must have ghee roast masala dosa, idli sambhar and madras coffee.

A very reasonable South Indian restaurant in Scarborough which has a great choice of south Indian food. The quantity is excellent and so is the service. The sambhar is thick and the variety of chutneys they offer 🤤 bring so many different flavors on your plate. Must visit 💯. They have limited seating arrangements and the restaurants gets full very quickly.

I have been here so many times. The food used to be really tasty. Which is not the case now. I am not sure the management is changed or not but the food quality and few of the items was taken away from menu. One of them is Paratha 🫓. It was by best choice all the time. Since they took of paratha from menu, I have stop going there. Price is gone up, but again I don’t mind paying it, as food is tasty here. But it’s changed now. Not recommended for now. Remember I have waited 45 min once and had there food, but now it’s a big no. Please bring back those items.

Location is great, store and mall is very clean. The employees were very nice and welcoming. The food was high quality and top tier. I highly recommend this place if you want South Indian food and ginger tea.

This place is a hidden gem! Must try if you like South Indian food! Very delicious, authentic South Indian food at a very reasonable price. They are always busy, so prepare to wait for a while. But the food is worth the wait! The staff is very friendly and quick. The restaurant reminds you of a typical South Indian restaurant you might have visited in India.

We order food for baby shower function, the food is too much oil and spicy, and also get small stones in rice that eating time very hard to bite, hurting our teeth, they should taking care of quality. The flavoured rice all are spicy except curd rice.

The entrance to the restaurant is pretty unassuming and in a pretty basic plaza. Don't be deceived by the looks, the food is value for money and one of the best places for dosa I've been to in Toronto so far. Wouldn't recommend the vada so much. Dosa is a must try! It is total value for money. I keep returning here whenever I've craved some good south indian cuisine.

As a South Indian, I can assure you the food at Subiksha is as authentic as it can be. It's been months since I left India for my higher studies and didn't know I missed dosas till I ate here. Definitely recommend, and worth the long (expected) wait times.

One of the best for South Indian eats. The food is super tasty and totally worth the price. Great service and old Indian hotel vibe make it a top pick. Highly recommend if you're craving soulful South Indian flavors. Recommended Items: Ghee Podi dosas, Idli & rasam, Mysore Masala Dosa, Rawa Masala Dosa & Filter Coffee

“Heaven for South Indian Food especially Dosa” I had the most authentic and most delicious dosa and vada here. I would recommend this restaurant without a doubt. The chutneys they offer are beyond praise. Everything is super delicious!! The servers are good and the sitting arrangement is amazing!

I have been going to Subiksha since last few years. I have never changed my mind. Even though I tried many Indian restaurants and various dosa items, Subiksha and their wide range of all sort of Dosa remain my favourite! The prices are so great, so affordable. The service is really good as well. Along with dosa, we tried Vadai with Sambar which turned out to be extremely delicious. Their special chai is next level. Can’t wait to go back and try more! Enjoy!💗💗

Great doses. Authentic taste and amazing flavors. The chutneys are great too. The portion size is something we have never seen in gta. Amazing. Will definitely try other items on the menu. Staff is super efficient and friendly.

“Dosas come in quicker and tastier than some other well known South Indian food chains” I have known Subiksha restaurant for a long time and they have come a long way. We ordered some dosas and sambar vada. The Dosa was phenomenal and I dare anyone to finish the Dosa on your own. It was huge! Except for the tomato chutney, everything else tasted exactly as back home. The interiors are nicer now and they have some tables but definitely can be made larger for more customers (given their popularity). The only downside is they don’t have filter coffee which IMO, is a must have for any South Indian restaurant. The other downside is, along with their growth, the food prices have become costlier. Dinner for 2 could cost you easily between 30-40$. Otherwise must visit for any South Indian fan. I plan to come again for a full Thali.

I have been disappointed time and again with some of the South Indian restaurants that I have eaten at. I spent some time doing research on the internet before I found this place through Google reviews. Walking into the restaurant, I found the ambience pleasant and the seating area nice. The place is pretty busy and there is a thirty minute limit to how long you can occupy a table. I had a weird experience of having an ill-mannered stranger just come and sit at my table without even asking me if it was all right with me - to their credit, one of the gracious servers noticed this and especially came to ask me if I was okay with sharing my table. I didn't want to make a scene and said it was fine. I ordered the paper roast masala dosa. It was a decent sized dosa stuffed full with potatoes although it desperately needed some salt and spice to make it tasty. The sambar was cold and the quantity was too less for the dosa. Not being a chutney expert, I can only say that the tomato chutney was pretty nice compared to the others. As I mentioned before, the servers were nice and attentive - no tip was demanded for their service. I would have loved to give this place a higher rating, but the the lack of taste and/or spice in the food and bad condition of the washrooms makes this impossible.

Delicious , mouthwatering, tasty, flavoursome varieties. One of the best place to eat South Indian varieties of food. They serve Good chutneys with all dishes.

Best place to have south Indian Veg food. Masala Dosa masala was amazing. Got the authentic madras filter coffee. Lemon rice was fresh and very tasty. Very cost effective and full value for money. Must visit place for dosa lovers.

I got the cheese dosa and expected very little cheese since it was the same price as the plain dosa. There was so much cheese! The dosa was delicious. The portion was generous. The chutney was good. As was the curry. Overall, I really enjoyed the meal. Will return.

The food was great in price plus quality and the service was outstanding never had this quick service in my life before. To the owner: please use bigger bowls of sambar ( need some improvements too) or at least refill them without asking as I have to ask twice and felt shy to ask for a third tim, they were super tiny bowls. Overall great experience needs some renovation but for food + service = 4 stars.

The food is delicious, I really miss my mum’s food and the restaurant is fulfilling it. The taste is amazing, quantity is amazing, value for the cost I put. I love the food I really enjoy it and will definitely order again and again ♥️ You guys are the best servers of South Indian food, that I’ve tried so far in Scarborough.

Absolutely the best dosa I've had in a very long time. Hands down better than any other dosa place I've been to in a 30km radius. The only issue I had if you could call it that was no option to tip while paying by card.I even asked the cashier if she could add it to the bill amount and she said we don't accept tips. Why not? Good service should be rewarded in my opinion

Our first visit to this hidden gem. Very cordial staff and nominal rates compared to the exhorbitant bills you get everywhere else in GTA. The aroma of south indian food as soon as you enter this small place is very intoxicating. We tried rava masala dosa, poori, idli and kesari. Everything was spot on and the service was very fast too. Must-visit.

Subiksha quality of masala dosa has gone down. Quantity is very less and also received spoilt food. Not happy with quality going down. It used to best but now it is worse

So happy I stopped here! Best Dosa and quality home chutneys I ever had. Bright, spacious and clean, nice server. Yes the parking lot is a dump per previous reviews but they don't own it. It's a plaza. 4:00 20/08/21

My fav spot for authentic south Indian dishes. Must try: Vada sambar, Idli sambar, Ghee roast dosa. The prices are very reasonable and the portions are large. Even though its a very small, not-so-fancy place but you will get what you have come for.
