Love Avling! Great local spot- food is always on point and love the weekly specials. Space for strollers but we always try to make a reservation, staff are always accommodating as well. Servers and bartenders always go out of their way to make our experience a fantastic one, 10/10!!!! Ps love the thursday night trivia:)

Beautiful, open space; mix of industrial and contemporary. Beer selection was excellent. Spinning yarn sour was delicious! The quality of the food is definitely high BUT does not necessarily correlate with the high prices on the menu. It’s also difficult to gauge what menu items are dinner portions vs appetizers. The burger is super juicy and flavourful but keep in mind it comes as a stand-alone without any sides. The risotto, the most expensive dish on the menu, didn’t quite justify the price. Some of the dishes were also overly salty (for my taste). Good for groups though but expect to pay high prices if you come hungry.

Great selection of food menu as well as the drinks. The beer and wine I had were okay but will definitely comeback as they had a lot of options.

We attended Avling restaurant yesterday for dinner and drinks and this place is beyond cool. They grow their own vegetables, spices etc. on the roof and they brew their own drinks in the back brewing area , which were all amazing. The food was incredible. The staff goes all out to make you feel at home. Trish and Sam always had a smile and were very welcoming. Amazing experience I would recommend for everyone to go. Thank you for an amazing evening.

Fun space with great beers and food, some of which is sourced from their rooftop garden. The restaurant area doubles as a great event space.

Amazing food - so much more than a brewery / bar! We walked past Avling and saw that they do a 'Sunday roast', coming from the UK we immediately booked as roasts are few and far between in Toronto. My partner said it was the best roast he'd ever had and with us coming from Yorkshire, the Yorkshire puddings were a true test - they did not disappoint. Will 100% be returning. Beer and atmosphere great too.

The best dining experience! Superb service throughout (shout out to Lorraine). Wide open and calming dining space - with picnic tables outdoors along the sidewalk for their patio. Their seasonal food and drinks is fantastic. I came for Sunday brunch (booked via OpenTable). They serve up local and fresh ingredients from local farms and their very own roof top farm! Can't wait to return to try the new summer dinner menu, and sign up for a farm tour. Items we ordered: Brunch Smorgasbord (love the housemade sausage, bread and yogurt. Yes, yogurt - it's the BEST ever); Korean Fried Hash (with a delicious savoury and sweet flavour and slight kick) with griddled mushrooms; Hibiscus Rose Tea Mocktail (light and refreshing); and Mimosa (they also make "Beermosa" here!).

Super cute space. V vibes. Great wine and beer menu, you'll find something you like no problem. A lot of crafty stuff which we love. Food was also incredible. Underlying Asian influence to the menu, really refreshing and well executed. The drunken chicken - Must get. Shrimp toast - great. Scallop - amazing Smorgasborg - tbh - could skip. didn't feel like everything was flowing.

Another brewery to check out in Leslieville! Overall beer price was little pricey but all the beer they had were definitely very unique and high quality. Their beer aren’t available at LCBO, so you should try! They have beer to go available, 6 cans for $20. Seems like they have amazing food but none of the food weren’t available except breakfast sandwich when we were there on Saturday lunch time ish because they were doing some event. Would visit again in the future to try food with new beer.

Great beers. We tried both IPAs, and they are really easy to drink. Cod Tongues and Stuffed Jalapeños are tasty. The service is super friendly. They source their own green from their rooftop and also have tours there. Curious to go.

Bar in the middle, tables lined along the walls so it has a fun warehouse vibe, very spacious. The appetizers used to have a more unique cuisine style, so wasn’t as impressed with the newer menu but still tasted good. Good to try once in my opinion because of the Ontario sourced food, but not super impressed by the range. Ordered Bread & Spreads $16 Ham and Cheese Croquettes $16 Brussellocoli $16 Ontario Burrata $25 Leguas Orange wine 5oz (Spain) $17 Individual videos for size

Really great lunch! I had the smorgasbord and the granola with orange marmalade was a real standout! All of the ingredients were fresh and flavourful. I had some wine with it and it was a perfect meal. Not too filling that I felt gross after, but perfect, light, and laidback. The staff were also super friendly and nice. I tried a bite of the patty melt and WOW. If i didn’t have dietary restrictions I would have gone IN on that thing because it was indulgence at its finest! Would 10/10 come back because the dinner menu also looked really enticing! Definitely a great spot to try in the city!

Our servers Adam and Denize were amazing! My friend and I came in for a casual lunch and we split the oysters, chicken sandwich, fries and a salad. Everything was a 13/10. The sandwich has the fluffiest bread, juiciest chicken and the best sauces I’ve ever had. Amazing portions and the sours on tap are refreshing and incredible. The loveliest staff and atmosphere! We will be returning here 100%!

Went to Alving for a group dinner on the weekend and had a few items recommended by the wait staff. The restaurant is aesthetically beautiful and the food was pretty good as well. The smorgsabord? Not sure about the spelling was great! The croquettes were okay, beef tartare was good and the chicken was great, the cornbread with it was a bit salty . Drinks were fine as there is a huge selection to choose from. Would Definitely come back!

This place was confusing, in a good way. A microbrewery, there were many varieties of beer to choose from with a specific menu for sours (I only tried the latter and all were very tasty). The food was a surprising fusion of Asian flavors and technique, which was very cool. Our table’s consensus was that dumplings were the best of the dishes we ordered. Avling also has a rooftop garden apparently that would be a cool spot to visit, though I wasn’t sure if it was open in late October when we visited.

Delicious shared plates. A lot of Asian inspired dishes. We ordered every item on the menu and between 4 women, we couldn't finish it. We each had a drink and the bill came to 320 before tip. Our favorite was the shrimp toast and least favorite was the potato, though that doesn't mean it was terrible. Great experience. The staff was incredibly friendly and timely. The only drawback was the annoy presence of fruitflies and house flies. They kept buzzing around trying to dive bomb out food and drinks. It wasn't a crazy infestation but they were definitely noticed and were a nuisance.

This is an East Side go-to with good food and drinks, whether it’s for a quick hang out with friends on the patio or fun date. I love the assortment of food beautifully prepared by chef Eva Chin (never disappoints) I recommend the dumplings whenever it is available. Most recently I got the smorgasbord and bao, both dishes were prepared with fresh ingredients and were very flavourful.

I've been wanting to try Avling for a while now, having saved it on my beer bucket list, and I'm saddened to say that it was disappointing. My girlfriend and I took our best friend here to celebrate her birthday as she's a big craft beer lover, and we wished it could have been a better experience. To start off, we ordered a bunch of dishes to share, from small plates to mains, but what was strange was they brought out everything at once, making us feel rushed to eat everything, but not in the most enjoyable way as the food got cold quickly having it all sit out. We had the tuna crudo, sausage & pesto flatbread, smorgasbord charcuterie, wedge salad and beer can chicken - it was good, but overpriced. The beers we had were great though and fairly priced for Ontario craft. What made the experience a letdown was the service. Our main server was polite, but not friendly. It was just such a strange vibe - there was a lack in kindness, warmth and customer care that evening. The worst part was when towards the end of the evening, another sever (or he may have been the bartender), came to our table and in an abrasive tone said, "in 10 minutes I'm going to take away your glasses." That threw us off. No "hi" or any form of greeting. This was right after another server told us it was last call for the bar at about 10:50pm. 15 minutes later he came and took the glasses and said "it's time to go." I was shocked. We immediately got up and just left. I've never experienced this level of rudeness and lack in customer care at a restaurant. There were groups of people next to us, but it didn't seem like they were told the same thing. Maybe they were just having an off night, but while I was so excited to go here and I'm sad to say I don't think I'll be back.

Very cool concept of a restaurant. Not too much choice for a full meal and portions are quite small. Food and drinks were overall very delicious! We ordered lamb burger and flatbread. The portions were a bit small and not much effort in plating or accompaniments, but the ingredients quality and flavours were amazing. Half price oysters, while worth it, is not recommended. Not much info were given on the oysters origin and flavours. The oysters we received are quite small and for some reason, it was drowned in salt water. Please include lemons on the side also. One star decreased for service and atmosphere. They were very friendly. However, they brought us the incorrect drink at first, then the incorrect amount of oysters we ordered. There is also unacceptable amount of fruit flies and larger flies. The bartender was seen zapping flies in the bar while making drinks

We enjoyed the food and the service at this place. The beer can chicken was 9/10. We also had sausage and pesto flatbread, which was delicious and a good combo with the chicken.

Not baby friendly! We used to come here alot but this particular time they refused to seat us because we had a baby.. There were 3 tables with customers - the rest were empty and “for reservations” which were over an hour away. We asked to sit at the bar which was completely empty and they said babies were not allowed at the bar. To remind you- you’re in a family-friendly neighbourhood, if you want to discriminate go elsewhere.

I really want to like Avling cause it has light and open interiors. The beers never quite hit the spot for me. Last time I went on a Tuesday evening and they had a 50% special for their sours but the beer caused me to have immediate gut rot and was sooooo acidic. Both my husband and I fell ill.

Expensive and upmarket taproom, actually more of a restaurant but it's still got the hint of taproom! Lovely shiny brewery and barrels behind glass at the back. The sour beers were excellent, really impressed, but I don't see why they dont do small pours - I wanted to try all of them but not the amount on offer! Please guys, do some sample trays of the sours!!

Avling has an interesting variety of beers, which I find to be mainly on the sour side, even though they serve classic styles such as lagers and pilsners. The food was very good, although the portions were smaller than expected and a bit pricy given their size. The service was outstanding and everything came out fast and fresh. Would definitely go back to try some of their other beers, or grab some beer to go from their bottle shop.

Wide and spacious bar with indoor and outdoor seating. What a vibe. Everything is ordered at the bar and then you sit down wherever available. Friendly staff. Good for small to medium sized groups.
