This is a great and cozy neighborhood pub! I have been coming here on and off for about 15 years and have never been disappointed. This pub bills itself as a "gastro-pub" and it certainly meets that description with its delicious food. There are usually specials on the weekend. For dinner on a recent Friday night, I had an awesome steak. For lunch today I just had a delicious and healthy kale ceasar salad. If you think an English pub can't make a tasty pasta, think again; that was a delicious special several weeks ago. There is also a good selection of beer on tap, which rotates periodically. The very large selection of Scotch is awesome! During the winter months, this pub offers Scotch tastings on a regular basis. The service is great and friendly. The prices are reasonable. So pop in and enjoy a nice afternoon or evening!

Straight up great experience. Lovely music, lovely selection of beverages, a talented bartender and great service makes for a fantastic time. They also stick true to their roots by having great music from British artists. Big fan of the vibe akin to other dive bars that are hidden gems. This place is going to be my local spot - absolutely in love with it.

Update: Been back to try their pork schnitzel and Hunter’s chicken. Both super flavourful! The surprise star was the potato & corn fritters that came with the chicken. Maybe Henry VIII will consider serving that as an appetizer? It will be amazing for those who just want a drink to have something small to nibble on! This is a low-key neighbourhood pub with a classic British ambiance. At the west end of Kingsway Village, this hidden gem offers a fantastic experience for those in search of good food, refreshing drinks, and a cozy atmosphere. One of the standout features of this pub is undoubtedly its exceptional food. The menu boasts an array of mouthwatering options. Their brunch hangover wrap was bursting with flavours. Paired with perfectly cooked home fries, this dish provided the ideal combination of savoury goodness and comforting textures. If you like spicy food ask for their house-made hot sauce. I believe you can even buy it to go! The service here is friendly and attentive. If you are a fan of draft beer, you'll be pleased with the extensive selection available at this pub. From local craft brews to popular international favourites, there's something to satisfy every beer drinker’s palate. However, if you're in the mood for something different, they do offer some interesting cocktails. Sports enthusiasts will also appreciate the presence of TVs scattered throughout the pub, allowing you to catch the latest games while enjoying your meal and drinks. They also have different specials on offer every weeknight and live music every Tuesday and Wednesday. I would recommend this pub and am looking forward to going back and trying other items on their menu.

I genuinely tip 15% prior to taxes as I personally don't feel like I should be tipping for taxes but the over all service and food I've received At the restaurant I received a total 128.53 after taxes, the machine didn't have an option for 15% or custom percentages so I assumed 13.54 should be somewhere around that amount. The waitress whose also the manager of the restaurant came to use after and asked if the service wasn't good enoughal as I had tipped less than 10% (even after using the after tax amount it is clearly over) as to try and publicly shame me in front of the group. It is pretty disgusting and disappointing that the manager of all had felt this was the best action to take and confront a customer. If someone was genuinely trying to insult the server wouldn't they tip 0? Why would they even bother putting in a tip at all?

Cozy quiet restaurant/pub that we don't visit enough just because of work schedules but every time we do go, my wife and I are always asking ourselves why we don't get down here more often. Great food. Great service. Good music in the background that isn't playing loudly so conversation can be had at normal speaking levels. I always get the bison burger since I don't have burgers, especially a really good one, all that often. My wife experiments more with the menu. Champagne tastes on a beer budget. 😀 Parking is seldom an issue unless you go during church hours as there's one behind the building.

Cozy little place. I admit I would probably give it 5 stars simply for having Fuller's on tap (a criminally uncommon beer). I like how the default burger is bison. Not cheap, but not crazy expensive either (especially in such a posh neighbourhood). Good selection, friendly staff. Definitely worth a look.

There are a few things that immediately differentiate a restaurant from a really good restaurant for me: the music, the quality of the napkins, and whether they provide good mustard & hot sauces. I know that's a bit silly, but I can usually tell if I'm in a place I will like by these simple identifiers. So, with that being said, Henry 8 Pub was off to a rolling start when I walked in. Marvin Gaye was gently streaming off the speakers, at a comfortable level that allowed me to hear and speak with Naomi (absolutely wonderful bar staff here). The napkin, a thick soft high quality napkin - as weird as it seems - tells me immediately that the owners have pride in their food and that I can expect a good meal. And hot damn! A Restricted R Rated Batch quantified hot sauce showed up at the table when I ordered a smoked salmon Bennie. It is outrageously delicious. The Bennie showed up quickly, but not too quickly. The chef took time and care to plate it and it looked so good. I have nothing bad to say about this pub, they have nailed everything: fantastic service, comfortable atmosphere, delicious food. I wish these guys would teach courses to other pubs and show them how to up their game. 5 stars all around.

Five stars because this is exactly what you would expect from a British style pub. Warm and cozy atmosphere, good selection of beers on tap, guys in the kitchen do a good job - burgers are flavourful. The service was good too, bartender was polite and helpful with my decisions on the menu. We had two burgers, bison and chicken burgers, fries and salad and a plate of onion rings. Everything was good, I would recommend the bison burger.

I go here about every other week to eat. The food is great and i really like the old style tavern feel to it. The gentleman that works the bar on the weekend is not very attentive and has given us an attitude before which was a bit annoying and rude. There is a lady who runs the bar at times who is absolutely great and I love when she is working. My rating is lower due to the gentleman who every time, lacks attentiveness despite how busy they may not be at the moment. Other than that, I absolutely love this place.

If you want a cozy pub experience look no further! The dim lighting and ambiance were exactly what I was looking for. I got the bbq chicken burger with fries and a beer and I’m very happy with the flavour and quality of the food. The server was also lovely and very helpful. Would recommend you try this place out and maybe catch a game here!

From Kristen, Wayne and Lexi with their excellent customer service to the chefs working behind the scenes. This bar is the most friendly and welcoming place establishment.

Great little pub, with a dozen or so beers on tap. Including Old Speckled He. Very nice ambience and friendly. Only come here when I am seeing something at the Kingsway Theater,so have never tried the food.

This is the second time that I’ve been to this place. They have a good English pub standard menu for food and drinks. The servers was friendly. If you like England type music this is the place. They also have a patio out front.

A lovely small British style pub. Had the Drambooyah cocktail which paired well with the fish and chips. Servers are great. Wife had espresso martini which she really enjoyed.

Great pub food and calm atmosphere. The staff were amazingly kind. We needed a place to work for a few hours and they shared the wifi and let us sit there (it wasn’t a busy time), drinking tea. Highly recommend the Guinness chocolate cake. Sinful!

I hadn't been in since about 5 years ago. I had a Bison burger with a kale cesear salad which was very good. I saw the wings pass by me while there. I'll have to try those on the next visit.

Pleasantly surprised! I was expecting basic pub fare, and my group ended up getting curry, salmon pasta and jerk chicken fettuccine. Great food and drink options! Would recommend.

Cozy, quaint spot with solid drink & food menus. (Terrific selection of bourbon). Bartender (Amanda) was amazing. The place had such a nice vibe - cool decor, good tunes & friendly regulars. Wish I lived closer! See you after my next Dentist appt :)

MY MESSAGE TO EVERY PERSON THAT WANTS TO GO TO THIS PUB DO NOT GO!! Their is this waitress name Amanda she is a caucasian female, five feet tall, short dark brown hair. She will rip you off I went to this pub with my friend. My first drink I had was a Brown Cow and the second one was a White Russian both of these drinks were not on the drinking menu. Amanda charged me $30 for 2 6oz glass of drinks including a $10 tip. She charged my friend the same amount of money. So both of our bill came up to $40. My friend was shown the price for the first drink which was $15 she nor I was shown the prices for our second drinks Amanda charged us what she wanted. She ripped us off and I called the restaurant asking to speak to the owner and Amanda answered the phone. Amanda asked me "Is this about her"? I told her that she ripped off both my friend and I. She denied it and told me I will never get too speak to the owner and hang up the phone on me. So Amanda knows that what she did ripped off me was wrong that is why she told me I can't speak to the owner.

Really nice atmosphere and the sidewalk patio is cozy. Food was pretty good-- but the potatoes and seasonal veggies served with the lamb shank were terrible..tasted microwaved -- veggies were wet and mushy not crisp at all and roast potatoes tasted like they were once fried but then just zapped in a microwave and served. The fish and chips were really good; a decent piece of haddock with crisp batter and tender moist fillet inside. The fries have a lemon pepper seasoning that is very yum and is definitely worth trying as a side regardless of what you order. Will go back again to try other items.

Loved it here! Amazing atmosphere and live music, loved the lighting and the specials were great - half priced wings and 7$ wine and pints. Amanda our bartender and server was incredible, so attentive and just lovely from the moment we sat down. Will definitely be coming back

Stopped in here for lunch unexpectedly cuz my glasses were being fitted with new lenses next door. It was soooo convenient. Had a wonderful meal experience, except for a phone call our Amanda, our server, took and seemed to take forever for her to return to us. Having said that she was great. The meal was plentiful and delicious! Cya again soon!
