I have been a member of LA FITNESS Don Mills for over 10 years and have had a pleasant experience with the facility, staff and members. Recently started training at the Scarborough location and had the front desk rep (Mary Jane?) yell at me in front of the entire staff/members and a friend because I had stepped out to get my rackets and walked back in. Instead of pulling us to the side to clarify our membership, the rep yelled across the desk to the point where other members training inside had to look. Being a member of over 10 years and in the customer service industry, I am disgusted by this treatment of a staff in a position to elevate and motivate its members in a facility that should be stress-free. I do not recommend the Scarborough LA FITNESS as the initial contact with their staff was so repulsive and off-putting that I didn’t even work out. Terrible location and needs newly trained staff.

Poor service and gym experience. I am a senior who signed up for a gym membership and they offered us a trainer and told us we can try the service out and cancel if we weren't satisfied with the service. When we went to cancel after 2 week they said you are locked in a contract and you will lose half of your money. This was not mentioned by the sales person when I signed up, La is Charging $70 for 30 min which is a very expensive and the quality of trainer is very poor. Charged a total of $3600 for 52 session. I would advise reading the contract and avoid high pressure sales or not go to this gym at all very unfair and they are taking advantage of customers especially seniors, avoid at all cost. I felt trapped and forced to use there service for 6 months. I will report to the business bureau and head office.

I used to be an active member of LA Fitness up until the Summer of 2022. Not sure how the gym is like now in 2023, but I’ll share my experience of the gym: The only staff I consider to be nice and authentic was Alisha and a few others (I don’t remember their names). Ian, who was the Sales Manager back in 2022 (he no longer works there now) was rude and fake. When I first took an interest to this gym, I took advantage of their Free Pass as any cautious customer would before handing over their hard-earned money. I found Ian incredibly rude when he was “mocking” me that I was still using the Free Pass on my third day, and that it was “Lame”. This was very rude and unacceptable! As a Sales Manager I understand that you need to “draw in” customers to sign up for the membership, however THIS IS NOT how you draw in customers. Jokingly mocking people will not drive up your fiscal quarterly sales LOL. Back then, I overlooked these things as I wanted to start embarking a healthy lifestyle in the gym. Now going into the details of the gym, I have to agree with what the others say. Barbells and weights are scattered throughout the gym. You have CREEPS and OLD MEN eyeing you as you workout (ladies watch out). I have been approached and followed by numerous old men and it was not fun at all. Keep in mind that this is NOT AN ALL WOMENS GYM. Beware of creeps! Equipment is always reeking of sweat and you’ll need to be responsible for wiping them down yourself. Also, people hog the machines and go on their phones whilst doing nothing. The pool is always somewhat cold and feels gross and the jacuzzi is always broken (apparently still is). The front desk staff are all undertrained and have 0 customer service. Do not give into their “Personal Trainer” promotion, I fell for it and had to WAIT 3 WEEKS TO GET MY $600 REFUND BACK. All because they didn’t queue in my request to the main office. WHAT A JOKE. I am happy that I WILL NOT BE RESUMING MY MEMBERSHIP HERE. As a female, I don’t feel safe working out at this gym. If you’re cautious about being approached or stared it, do yourself a favour and go to a womens-only gym. Good riddance :)

First of all let me say Avery and Fab are carrying the staff on their back for real. Only reason I even enjoyed hitting this location for as long as I have. After encountering Marilyn (apparently the manager) at the front desk I can confidently say the gym staff has taken a plunge. The worst customer service I’ve ever experienced in my life. Marilyn is sure to put a stain on anyone’s day. Stay clear.

Pool is closed for maintenance during peak hours, no soap at wash basins, emergency exit often blocked by cleaning cart. ultra poor customer service - accidentally left my bag in mens locker room - no one cooperated, no one moved from their seats to help me find it, told me probably someone took it and they can’t do anything (without any effort of finding it)

Existing member since 2013, asked about jumping on the promotion where I get 2 guest passes and they said I would need to resign up and pay $100.i asked to speak with a manager but the young woman said she'll call me back. That never happened and was not surprised. Love this location but only focus is on new members and the service speaks for itself.

Dont go to this location if you workout in the evening unless you want your workout to be cut short. Staff starts kicking people out aggressively at 7:40pm even though the gym closes at 8:00pm. Tons of members were bothered by this « policy » since other locations announce closing time at 7:55-8pm ish. 2 of the girls working there (front desk and salesperson) started mocking customers who were complaining saying « Oh im going to go to the gym at 8pm even though it closes at 8pm and complain about the policy! ». Extremely unprofessional to have these kinds of people represent LA fitness. I will never come back to this location and will be cancelling my membership. Thanks for nothing Warden location!

Be careful when you are signing a contract. Get things in writing and read it carefully. They tell you things to get you in contract like (“ I will do an exception for you and you can bring a friend at no cost”) but when it comes to reality you don’t get the price and service that was promised. Very disappointed. The young manager Marilyn has a bad attitude towards the customers. She thinks customers are her employees. No respect 😞

The warden location of LA fitness is ok, the staff is extremely unprofessional. you can see STAFF members at night kissing each other (the reception desk male and the sale girl-her name is aveer I believe) or one of the sales guy hanging out, screaming and partying with his other singer friends at night time before closing at the desk. this gym has zero level of professionalism in it. This gym needs a professional staff, I understand we all have a private life, but we can't bring this to our professional life. I do hope the higher level will see my review and decide to take some action by installing cameras around where the staff is as this behavior is extremely unprofessional.

I've been going to this gym for over 5 years and it's really gone downhill. I do have to applaud the staff on going around at certain times to clean and pick up weights. During off hours, the gym is clean. Also, Lori at front reception is amazing! However, why are there only 5 yoga mats available? And all of them are badly ripped. The staff turnover rate is also extremely high. I did personal tranining for 6 months and had 3 different trainers because all of them kept leaving. This isn't specific to this location but LA Fitness started a 2 guest privilege membership where you can bring 2 non-members with everytime. It's caused crowding around many of the machines. For instance, I saw 1 guy using the lat pull down while 4 friends just stood around blocking the surrounding machines. This has almost become a daily occurrence. EDIT: I gave them an extra star because they got some new yoga mats!

I cannot emphasize enough how horrible my experience was at this location. I had been on the fence about choosing between GoodLife and LA for a while, and they made my decision incredibly easy, albeit in the worst way possible. The staff at this gym were incredibly rude, despite never having used a free pass for LA (any location), I was denied my free-pass because my phone number was listed in their system four times. This occurred because I had previously visited different locations to just inquire about membership options and check out the vibe. So, apparently, their system counts these inquiries as free passes, Although I explained this clearly to them several times, no one believed me! which is beyond ridiculous! To top it all off, I wasted one and a half hours for: registering online, getting ready, driving there, filling out some forms and being met with such a disrespectful attitude was beyond belief. @LaFitness: You really need to do something about this location, or you'll continue to drive customers away.

Worst customer experience ever. Literal scammers. If you ever cancel any service with them sit there until you get a confirmation. Happened to me twice, I cancelled my personal training after my contract, was charged an extra month and I was told that the person who cancelled mine didn't do it right and didn't even get a refund for it. Was fed up with their response tried to cancel my normal gym membership and same thing again. "Oh who did you talk to? I don't see a record, I'm sorry" and so I asked them do it again and now I'm past the 10 day period before billing cycle so I have to pay for an extra month now. Tldr; good luck canceling with these scammers.

Im an existing LA fitness member. If I have to compare Planet Fitness and LA Fitness, I would rather recommend Planet fitness. At least at Planet Fitness, Trainers were available to walk you through your exercise plan, show you how to use machines. Trainers at LA fitness are firstly not qualified and then unless you pay money to hire them, they are not going to tell you anything about which machine to use. Final Verdict : Join Planet Fitness if you are a starter. If you are looking for trainers, rather join a good place than wasting money on amateur and toxic trainers here. If you are into squash like me, you can join LA Fitness but make sure to book court in advance, and also be prepared to request people to please leave court because you have booked the court. LA Fitness PROS - Infra : Basketball court, swimming pool, Squash Court - Free Classes like Zumba etc LA Fitness CONS - Way too many people after Covid. Too many guests, ALMOST 1-2 PEOPLE ON EACH MACHINE from 5 PM - 10 PM EVERYDAY.. - Its all about money, No Customer Loyalty. There is a huge initial membership fee then one time yearly fee. Also at least twice, I saw long time members being mistreated and stopped if they missed one payment by mistake. - Dishonest Deceitful Programs and Services : A lot of services they claim to offer like free class with trainer is not true. Also lot of things they promise during the contract signing are all lies. - Free training class is a lie. Trainer will take your weight and BMI and put it on a piece of paper and for rest of the time, they will try to influence you to buy training sessions. - Toxic Training Staff : I overheard trainers making fun of folks who can not afford training classes and mock people - Toxic Company Culture Overall : When reached out to corporate office, they are indifferent and it's the same toxicity within their corporate office. - Non Existent Customer Service : Customers are seen as money making opportunity. Shameful Culture and Customer Service.

Worst experience ever. They only care about money. HAd. personal trainer. But was not as good as the money we were paying. also did not provide the opportunity to work out on his own for my partner on a same plan even though we had personal training together and we were already paying 400 dollars per month. They were insisting onto getting a different plan for my boyfriend. Went on to lose lot of money for no reason because of the fitness employees.

This is by far the best fitness facility in the area. I go to all LA Fitness locations but this particular location has the cleanest equipment, friendliest staff and great customer experience from start to finish. Great atmosphere and top of the line equipment. So glad I signed up with Fabrice when I did. I have recommended many of my friends already. Highly recommended!

Dumbbells up to 100lbs and about 60 weight machines. 2 open top squat racks and one closed top power rack. equipment and machines are regularly cleaned and regularly maintained to appear and function as such. The staff are warm and recognize regulars with pleasant departing messages. The membership structure presents multiple options with marginal difference in price. I registered Jan '22 and pay ~$50-55 after tax and distributing the annual fee. This provides access to all locations internationally. I mention this as substance for a 4 star rating due to the significantly greater equipment available at other LA fitness locations, namely don mills which is a 10-15 drive from this location. They have dumbbells up to 120, 4 Olympic platforms and as many as 50% more machine variety relative to this location. This location would be 5 stars if it also had atleast one Olympic lifting platform, dumbbells up to 120lbs and a normal cable row machine like the don mills location. Depending on your needs as a fitness enthusiast the single location membership may be more valuable. As of writing they are $3-5 per month less costly. That said, I recommend the warden/Eglinton LA wholeheartedly to new and intermediate lifters as well as people not looking to intensively focus on compound lifts or Olympic movements. The staff and patrons are respectful. The couple bodybuilders that do go there are encouraging and happy to chat. The basketball court is competetive in the evening yet quiet in most mornings.

I felt wholehearted inclined to write a review for this location after receiving an outstanding initial consultation/personal training by a trainer by the name of Ryan. I was extremely impressed by his enthusiasm to help, his expertise in exercise science and his confidence in his own capabilities. I am not new to weight lifting or the gym and often dread initial consultations as I am usually offered a cookie-cutter service catered towards newcomers to fitness. However, Ryan was able to gauge that I am an avid weight lifter and tailor to my needs by providing me guidance through advanced movements and topics instead. He expressed genuine interest in helping me achieve any of my fitness goals and all around provided great customer service. In regards to the facilities, they have a variety of machines and would likely have every machine you would want from a commercial gym aside from a hip thrust machine. There are lots of flat benches (5) but not enough squat racks (there are only two) and only one power rack. Because of this there tends to be a queue for the squat racks during busy hours. However the facilities are clean and people tend to put away their weights so that's a plus. All in all the facilities are what you'd expect from a good, clean commercial gym

worst !!!! Okay, So I got a membership at their eglinton ave east location. At that time a employee who is working with them ask me for reference of my guest and give them a free trail for 14 days a VIP. He asked for thier contact details with the guarantee that he will not give them a call but that’s just for their information records. My guests was getting a call almost thrice a week and they got frustrated with their calls. My suggestion to all the new joiners. Never get a membership here as they are charging way to much. second issue is if you want to cancle the membership you have to go to their location. They don’t cancle membership on call. You have to go to particular same location where you got the membership from. We have so many good places for workout. Please choose the other better options. And LA Fitness please be at your words. If you are asking for contact details and saying that you will not disturb them you should not. Thanks

Incompetent staff. Usually a teenager at the front who doesn’t even pay attention to who they’re letting it. Don’t waste your money on person training, you will get locked into a 1-year contract while the trainers spend more time on their phones then actually helping you improve. Gym equipment is in dire need of repair. Save your hard-earned money and go elsewhere.

They are literally thieves. I wanted to cancel my membership with them, called them. They said you can’t cancel via a phone call and you have to come over in person. Went there, an extremely rude lady with a guy were there to help. They said it is cancelled and you don’t need to do anything. A month later, I noticed they have deducted the monthly amount, when called, they said your memberships is not cancelled! When I said I did, they said you would have received an email. When I told them I never received the email and if you want, you can check the cameras and check if I was there, they said no need to check the cameras. They didn’t even care if their employee made a mistake and didn’t cancel the membership. But surprisingly, this time the cancelled the membership via a phone call haha I just hope this time it is cancelled. I will never ever go to LA fitness! They are there to just steal your money.

I enjoy working out in this gym specially at this location. The place is clean and spacious. I have a personal trainer here. His name is Shane Fernandes. He's very nice to work with. He gives me just the right amount of work that I can achieve. He gives me encouragement and motivates me very well in doing my exercises. I am happy to have him as my trainer and I recommend him to others.

Great gym. It can get busy in the evening. My main concern is the use of phones in saunas and change rooms. Both my partner and I noticed it in male and female change room. Please use postings or properly monitor these areas, so people don't use their phones in saunas

Way too over crowded. Nobody puts the weights back in the right spot. Spent most of my time hunting for dumbells. When I finally did find a matching pair of dumbells i had to wait for a bench to use them. Also uncomfortably hot in the gym with all the ceiling fans turned off.

Too small. Limited workout items. Pool stays closed to long for repair, and its never warm like advertized. The jacuzzi is always broken down. Rude staff, not all specifically Alishia. Its not the same as before covid. New and unprofessional staff. Kennedy Commons their pool was fixed in 1 day. The head office don't do anything and one person made fun off me! I couldn't believe it. I'll be leaving soon. Manager Faith at head office never called back or return requested calls. This place is going down hill.

I have been coming to this gym for years. The staff is nice and the gym is very big with enough classes . Sometimes the jacuzzi does not work and that is a problem. Also they allow kids (I don’t know why) but that is a problem too. Otherwise it is clean in a great location with ample parking.

If you need a trainer I highly recommend Jason S. I'm a first time gym user with osteoporosis and Jason designed my program with this in mind. In terms of sessions with Jason, here are a few points: 1)He measures your success against you and only you. 2)He remembers details of your previous sessions, eg things you struggled with. 3)He focuses completely on you during the session, ie no cell phone usage. 4)He gives tons of tips. You'll quickly learn the meaning of "shut the car door". 5)He treats you as if your physical strength is all that matters and he's going to move you forward. 6)He is skilled at designing programs suited to the individual. My husband's program was completely different than mine. Overall, summary statement: Having Jason S. as a personal trainer is money well spent for your health.

The gym is a fairly decent size with a variety of machines and weights. Though, the chief reason I enjoy coming to this particular gym is to take part in the yoga classes hosted by instructor, Patricia. Patricia’s an incredible teacher, ensuring everyone’s safety and comfortability throughout the class by periodically checking-in, providing safety tips and fixing poses. Patricia hosts invigorating and restorative classes for all ages and levels, leaving you relaxed and clear-headed with a boost of serotonin to get you through the rest of your day. 10/10 highly recommend.

Gym is very messy and dirty. Weights are all throughout the gym. No one ever re racks their weight so you end up having to remove other peoples weight so you can do ur workout. Dumbbells are just thrown anywhere and sometimes are not even placed back where they are supposed to be. Please tell your staff to walk around and clean up cus it is so annoying when you can’t find the weights you are looking for. Or when there are dumbbells just thrown all throughout the gym. It is very busy and it’s gets very hot, sweaty, smelly, and muggy in there. The only time I can get a workout in is in the morning. Make sure you do a trial before you sign up cus if I knew that it was this dirty I would not have signed up.

From the moment I started working with him, it was evident that he is not only knowledgeable but also incredibly flexible and exceptionally helpful. If we're talking about Lina Hamilton's Zumba classes, I would give this gym 100 stars!!! Lina created such a welcoming Zumba community here. I danced with her several times and she brought so much joy to me and to everyone else around her. Lina allowed me to be my genuine-self without any hesitations or fear. No judgement. I got to dance like no one was watching. I miss her so much. I miss dancing with her. I miss Lina's Zumba classes. I'm sure the rest of her Zumba community felt the same way. Please L.A. Fitness, do the right thing and bring her back. Zumba is never going to be same unless it's Lina's. I've been to her class and I saw different age groups, and different backgrounds. Everyone was so happy to be there and her classes are always FULL! I remember this older lady who came into her class one night with her walker, and she danced beautifully in the corner. She teared up with so much gratitude and joy after her class and showed her appreciation. I will never forget that moment. We miss you Lina. Please come back!

Washrooms are filthy, half the time theres no soap or paper towels. They make you download an app to scan in, yet cant be bothered to post holiday hours in the app, instead they print out a piece of paper and stick it on the door. They gave all new members two free guest privileges, which made the gym much more busy, while existing members got nothing. Gym has gone downhill over the past few years ive been a member.

They got it all, on top of all that Squash courts and swimming pool. Extremely friendly management team and the members in this location comes from a good demographic group. Great atmosphere to be in.

Bring your own weights to the body classes folks! For months we have been complaining that there are not enough dumbbells to go around. I’ve had to resort to bringing my own weights to class. Can you imagine? To a gym??!! They should be ashamed of themselves. Seriously.

Can the gym enforce the cleaning of machines.... I've never been to a gym with such unhygienic individuals... no one wipes the machines down so I'm always sick... which prevents me from going to the gym! The hand sanitizer is also always empty! very simple requests.

I bought lump rice, Kothu, fried rice and short eats and very delicious. I visit this place every weekend and I love to eat lump rice.

Was there on April 2 2023 and every stall in men's washroom was out of toilet paper and dirty. The solution was to keep a roll on top of hand towels. Reminded me of what they do in a third world country. I've seen the men's was room missing hand towel even with a pandemic. Why can they not provide us the basic washrooms necessaries... do we have to bring out own TP?

Marilyn Koumaris is the absolutely best rep at LA Fitness!! Not only is she amazing but LA Fitness is an awesome gym. Decent membership rates and everything from a pool, squash courts, basketball court and any piece of exercise equipment you need. Highly recommend this place, especially the one at 1970 Eglinton Ave East! 5 stars! Go see Marilyn!!

It's a standard gym with standard people. I haven't had a problem finding weights (as with other locations). I really dislike the plates though - octagonal, with no 35lbs. The gym is very busy in the evenings- if that is not your jam, go in the off hours. I try to do this because no one wears masks. I get that it is no longer mandated, but I also don't appreciate it when people are cutting through aisles and between machines very close to others and not respecting boundaries.

Always had a positive experience working out here, never had any problems with the members, usually they’re cool and very helpful if you do need advice. Staff always solved any problems i had regarding my membership. Usually very clean environment. one thing i wish they did is get actual olympic plates instead of the hexagon plates they have.

Fab the sales consultant / trainer was hands down the best rep I've ever dealt with in a customer service role. His high enthusiasm, gym knowledge and overall kindness is something you don't see often. Find this guy for all your LA fitness needs !

I’ve received great customer service from Fabio with the seamless change to my membership. I would suggest talking to Fabio for any membership inquiries or getting started at the gym!

This is the best LA fitness in east Toronto. The staff are amazing, alway friendly and very helpful. The facilities are clean, clean, clean. I appreciate the care that the staff put into ensuring that clients are happy. Can't say enough about this location.

I signed up for LA today and everyone was super friendly. The lady working at the front desk was super nice and made me feel welcome. Aaron helped me with signing up and walked me through the pricing and paperwork. Super friendly staff

I went to sign up for a membership, first they start from all the expensive plans and finally they gave me an option which is affordable at last. It is too crowded. If you want to cancel the membership and they say they are gonna give you a call back, trust me it's never gonna happen. I went to cancel my membership and they said it is done. But I got charged again. I don't understand why they do this always.

Toni Fahem is a brilliant personal trainer as he navigated my needs and weaknesses throughout my fitness journey. He is very patient and encouraging. After taking a long break in fitness, I was quite unsure how motivated I’ll be in training however he made my experience at the gym very comfortable and enjoyable. I definitely recommend him especially he sets challenges and pushes you to strive in your gym goals.

I was introduced to this gym through Linroy Williams. Really friendly and professional dude. Helped me get through the process. The gym is quite nice, a major upgrade from by last one. Comes with plenty amenities and is quite comforting. Solid.

Unfortunately, the hot tub is not properly cleaned everyday, and usually broken. The shower stalls have more flying things than outside, usually never paper towels in the machines... but great friendly atmosphere, staff and customers.

I feel like some of the machines here are a bit outdated even with the Life Fitness brand. Definitely more amenities than your average GoodLife though. Giving it 3 stars solely because there are no equipment disinfectants easily available. In this day and age it's a necessity.

Lack of equipment in classes, so you have to go to the gym (hall) to take the weight, since the weights in classes are 2.5 and 5 lb, which is not enough. To take the weights from gym is not allowed also. No mats, you should bring your own and if you decide to buy the lock and keep your stuffs in the locker, your lock will be broken, because keeping your own equipment is not allowed also. . 3 stars to friendly young people on the reception. Management is poor. If you don't allow your clients to keep their gym's stuffs in the lockers, buy more equipment and weights so clients didn't have to bring them.

Fabio, was really helpful with setting me up on the registration process. We were able to work around the system issues and now I'm officially a member! Really nice guy, I would definitely recommend specifically him if you want to register or need any help!
