πŸ‘πŸ‘ A vegan place in first Markham?!?!? I was pretty shocked this place existed in the foodcourt but I had to try it. Had the noodles and vegan popcorn chicken. I enjoyed both dishes and price was reasonable. Would go back again. People often mention vegan, good, chicken, rice, great, Markham, Real, Vegan, delicious, Chinese,

Apr 2021: Located in the mall food court, this place was opened about 2 or 3 months ago. Food itself is decent and flavorful. While not quite the same actual meat versions, it's pretty good for what it is. Had the fried oysters and surprisingly, it was very good. Would recommend that. The other black pepper beef wasn't bad either, but a bit saltier than I would've liked. Pricewise, it seems pretty expensive considering that you can get actual meat in the stalls beside it. Protien portions could be slightly larger though the box container doesn't allow for it. But if your here, your here for vegetarian and the price itself is about typical.

First time trying this place and it’s amazingly great! Just a note that i’ve placed the foods without the original containers but those containers are recyclable and like paper containers (with plastic covers). ordered crispy chicken, pork ribs and mock shark fin soup and they were so good! As it was my first time checking this place out, they were so nice and giving me to sample their foods.. and of course it was good too. For sure i’ll come back again and it’s a great vegan place. Not many around! Thanks!!

Everything that I've tried here is really good and the owner is really nice too! This time I got C1 which is the curry w soy chicken - reminds me of McDonald's chicken nuggets which I used to love. It's great that the rice has so much quinoa in it, I think all of the meals are quite high in protein :) Very good value, and it's nice that you don't have to wait in line when other restaurants are busy during lunch/dinner 🀣

I am so impressed by the food here! Ordered the teriyaki "chicken" and my meal was beautifully plated. The rice/quinoa is soft and fluffy, not overcooked at all! The "meat" had a texture like chicken, but you could tell it was an alternative - which doesn't really matter becuase the teriyaki sauce is delicious. The veggies are also cooked well. Definitely stop by and give em a try if you're interested in vegan food!

Fair price and good quality. So glad to have a vegan Chinese food place in the area!! The sides seem repetitive a lot and they are not really flavourful, but it’s good enough to have 3 kinds of veggies to go with the heavier main dish. Regular visit here. Recommended!

Been to First Markham Place so many times but first time trying this vegan restaurant in the food court! They had lots of options to try from. This is the Gong Pao chicken with a side of veggies and quinoa rice. I also got fried shrimp! It was all delivious and super affordable. The lady was very nice and gives you free samples! Can't believe I haven't been here earlier!

Absolutely fantastic experience. I ordered the Japanese "Chicken" Curry (R7) and it tasted phenomenal, portions were great, and most of all the tofu "chicken" katsu was amazing. The lady at the cash register was very welcoming, and even offered samples. They answered questions about the menu and asked if I wanted internships in my order. The bags they use are paper bags, and the for container is coated paperboard with a plastic lid. This is also the first vegan stall in the food court at Markham place, and I've been looking for a good vegan chinese place for a while. Did not disappoint. Overall 10/10 experience and I look forward to coming here again.

Real Vegan is the real deal! This little shop offers amazing value, especially the prosperity pot (pai chau) offered during Chinese festivals. This has been our go to place for the first of the Lunar New Year dinner for several years. Items in the pot include chau siu, shrimp, abalone, broccoli, shark fin, green veggie balls, seafood balls, chicken, pork, Chinese mushrooms, black fungus, white radish, nappa cabbage, sea cucumber, oyster, bean curd and smoked duck; to name a few. The owner has thoughtfully attached reheating instructions to the takeout. Every item is carefully layout with a bamboo layer at the bottom of the pot to ensure ingredients do not stick to the bottom of the pot when reheating. Their attention to detail is truly commendable. Best of all, this year even my mom’s self-proclaim strict carnivore friend had items from the vegan prosperity pot for the first time and said he never thought vegan food can be so delicious and thanked my mom for opening up his world. Way to grow Real Vegan! Thank you for always striving for improvements! You are un-be-leaf-able!

Best customer service I've ever had. The man was super wholesome and it is sad that it doesn't get as many customers. I finished the first drink he gave me and he kept on offering me a second or a third for free! From vegan & Asian foods, it was mid-tier but definitely on the healthier side. It surprisingly filled me up very easily & I hope I can frequently come back often!

The price was very fair for the amount of food, and doesn't leave you feeling greasy with healthy veggies and quinoa rice in many options that this place offers! They also don't add any onions, garlic, or chives to accommodate religious individuals! Owner also packages everything in recyclable boxes and paper bag for takeout, which I thought was very kind and thoughtful of the environment! This is a hidden gem. One of the few authentic vegan Chinese restaurants!

Great healthy fuel for weekday work lunch. Had gung poa chicken and loved how it came vegetables and rice mixed with couscous, very balanced meal (on the saltier side). Also had the shark fin soup, great gentle umami flavor, not salty, will order again. Packaging is nice as well.

Really sweet dude working the counter, helped me (a first timer) pick a good dish. I was super hungry so I ordered the large plate but couldn’t finish it all! A lot of time takeout Chinese food is kind of greasy, but you can tell this place is health conscious and keeps oil to a minimum - no sacrifice on flavor though. Everything is fresh, I’ll be back! I want to try the entire menu. The catsucurry is unbelievable. Great value for money.

Tried this vegan restaurant out when I saw the great reviews and was not disappointed! Probably the healthiest option in First Markham Place’s food court. Tried the salty oyster rice bento box which was $9.25 after tax if you pay with cash. It was lightly fried, umami with the dried seaweed taste, and very chewy! My friends and I were all pleasantly surprised. The veggies were decent pairings, not greasy at all. Quinoa rice was a big portion and perfectly cooked. Came with complimentary iced tea.

Veggie bento is delicious. The boil broccoli has no flavour and too soft. Other dishes are good.

Recently visited Real Vegan in the First Markham plaza and really enjoyed their food! Healthy, simple and tasty vegan food. Tried the Sweet and sour spareribs, teriyaki chicken combos (rice, broccoli, mushroom, carrot) and one of their drinks. Definitely going back here when I'm in the area! Service is good and friendly. They accommodated my nut allergy as well. (Only one item on the whole menu with nuts)

One of my favourite vegan take out places in Markham. The food is so good. The staff is very friendly. They also have vegan dim sum and various traditional Chinese snacks made vegan.

Heard about this place and kind of excited to try. Ordered a bento for Thai Lemongrass Chicken and find it too spicy plus it says on their menu it comes with 3 veggie sides which I only got two without being told anything.

I'm new to the vegan scene (for health reasons) and this place has given me a great first impression on how delicious "meatless" food can taste. The prices and portions are also very reasonable. Looking forward to trying more of their dishes.

Real Vegan is located inside the food court in First Markham Place. Real Vegan is definitely a hidden gem in uptown area. Compared to downtown, there are fewer vegetarians/vegans, so there are very few plant-based restaurants are in uptown, let alone good ones. Real Vegan offer plant-based Asian food. I find the food is prepared in healthy way, and definitely less greasy and less sodium than traditional Asian food. For grains and noodles option, they offer plenty customized options, including organic quinoa, 5-grain ramen. Price is definitely fair. I paid less than $10 for a full bowl of "seafood" ramen.

This place is certifiably delicious. You don't expect to find something unique like this in a mall food court, at least not in Canada, but here we are, and Markham is better off for it. We tried a few different dishes, like the vegan hot pot and the rice bowl with sour & spicy chicken. Everything was great, though particularly memorable for me (weirdly) was the broccoli and the rice.

Delicious food, good prices, and friendly service. I've gone to Real Vegan for pickup and ordered catering, and the food is always so good - my non-vegan friends were amazed at how authentic tasting every dish was! Tom is a kind and communicative owner. I think everyone should try Real Vegan - it's one of the true gems of the Markham food scene!

Wish I could eat and support this business again! The Japanese eel rice bento I got was good. At first, I thought the portion looked smaller than the other places around but it is filling. The vegetable sides are pretty plain but the vegan eel was very good.
