Ramen was a bit too rich and salty for my personal taste but I can see why this place is so popular. The portion is very big, it was my first time being unable to finish my food since arriving in Japan. The pork cuts were thick and the broth was very rich. We waited about half an hour around 7-8pm. Staff outside could speak english and was very polite and professional.

Amazing! Got here a little before opening ... about 10am perfect timing. First in line and behind us was a massive line. The host was great. offered us the English menu. Pre ordered before heading into the shop and the food was ready as we sat down Tsukemen was incredible. Chewy noodles with a rich broth and all the toppings! Ramen was silky and full of collagen Service impeccable!

Leaving this review once I finish my Japan trip. I can easily say this is the best ramen ive had throughout my trip in Japan. I got the recommendation & it was perfect. Noodles perfect thickness, egg was amazing, and the meat was amazing. I have absolutely no complaints. The staff were welcoming and attentive. Being a foreigner stepping foot into a new restaurant always has me worried. Mutekiya is worthy of 5/5 don't miss out.

June 2023: queued in the rain for 30min for this. And was totally worth it. Broth was thick, the pork slice was well marinated, the egg was flavourful and the service was tip top. So glad I stumbled upon this.

I prefer Tokumaru men no 2 rather than no 1, flavourful broth very impressive.. Thick roast pork but so tender, unfortunately only 1 meat at the bowl.. Tourist friendly (English, Chinese, Japanese menu).. Strategic location near Ikebukuro station, waiting line is around 20-30 minutes at 7 PM..

Wait time was relatively short (30mins) considering we queued at 6pm on a Friday evening. The waitress at the door was very nice and kind. She was very speedy in taking the orders and allowed us sometime to look through the menu before she came to ask for our orders. Food arrived as soon as we got seated so no additional wait time was required. The ramen is a little on the salty side but it is still good. The pork chashu was thick and flavorful. It has some char tasted but subtle. We ordered the pork negi don as side dish and it was quite good. There is a need to do a little more seasoning with the condiments provided at the side. A bowl of ramen is quite big and filling so the side dishes are not recommended if you are a small eater. The location is easy to find and the Uchiwa fan provided right outside the store front helped to fan off the summer heat while waiting for the hot bowl of ramen.

It's one of the best ramen. The soup is slightly saltier than Ichiran based on my preference. The noodle is slightly thicker hence the noodle has its texture. I must say the char siew is thick and juicy every slice. It's really good if you love meat. Very affordable price. There are only 16 seats in the shop by the turn over is very fast , I waited for about 30mins. Some people say Ichiran is better , some people say Mutekiya is better. I think it really depend on your preference.

The soup was thick and flavourful as expected of a ramen! The queue was with about more than 15 people despite the rain and cold weather. The sauce for the gyoza was amazing, the gyozas were crunchy on the side. Please not that there is No space for luggage. I almost wanted to try my luck immediately after getting out of the airport. Thank goodness I didn't! My last pic of spicy vegetables are actually spicy. Rare for Japanese cuisine.

Incredible ramen ! Be prepared to wait as a lot of people come to eat here ! The broth is rich and delicious. The noodles are good, the portion is generous ! One of the best Ramen in Tokyo ! (I ate a lot of Ramen before) The price is a little higher than the other Ramen but, it's deserved, I left with a full stomach ! PS : I went back a second time ... it's still good bravo !

Mutekiya Ramen. The one ramen store only has been around for more than 60 years and prides themselves in their broth. The restaurant has 3 batch of broth every day that is produced by boiling pork bones for 16 hours. The tonkotsu based broth offers a wide variety of ramen ingredients but the one I ordered has the classic bamboo shot, a braised soft-boiled egg and thick-sliced pork (the way it should have been). I highly ecommend this ramen to those who prefer a super robust broth.

It's one of my favorite ramen shops in Tokyo right outside the Ikebukuro station. Stick with #1 and get the Mutekiya ramen special. Rich broth, super tender pieces of pork that fall apart to the touch and the perfect al dente noodles that draw rich broth into your taste buds during each slurp. There is almost always a 20-30 min line when it's not during rush hour but definitely worth the wait. Cash only, and a little tight for any party more than two. Friendly staff and English menu for those that need it.

One of the most favorite ramen! It's totally my type! The soup base is really great with smooth and silky. The noodle is well cooked with the chewy texture. I can finish all soup with still craving more of ramen here! The gyoza is pretty good when having together with spicy ramen. Great combination! The restaurant's location is in Ikebukuro and also convenient to go and continue shopping after a meal. I come to have ramen here for two days in a roll. I think I'm pretty lucky for waitung only 10 mins outside. The customers are quite multi-nationality. It's really famous, but trust me, it's definitely worthy to wait. Really love it! Highly recommend!

This ramen spot enforces strict queue rules, requiring everyone to be present; otherwise, you’ll have to rejoin the line from the back. However, ramen they serve is truly exceptional. Offer different type of noodle textures for both soup and dry ramen. Personally, I prefer the thick, chewy noodles for the dry ramen – it’s a matter of personal preference, but they do it really well. Last to note, it’s an only cash outlet.

The atmosphere was very nice, I think I did not choose the best ramen for my own personal taste. I had the seafood broth, but that's all on me. I'll do better next time.

Arrived there at late night 1:30 am, still needs to wait for 10 mins. Has ordered the 1,300 and 900 yen ramen. Broth is excellent and tasty. But the noodle to me is a bit hard. In general, environment is very comfortable and the late night supper is very enjoyable.

If you are staying near Ikebukuro station, you need to try this ramen shop. It is small establishment with wait time that range from 20-60 minutes. I ordered the special ramen that came with 1lb of pork chasui. There were a least 10 slices and each slice was 5mm thick. The flavour was amazing with the rich broth. The ramen came with condiment; the yuzu pepper was the best (green paste). If you find the broth too rich then add a bit of vinegar or try the cold tea (concentrated tea that you mix with the ice water).
