Go here on the 4th, 14th, or 24th of the month. It will not disappoint! This is always a shopping street. But on these 3 days they have extra street vendors with food, homemade goods, and antiques. You can find some good prices at this time also. I bought some handmade long makeup pouches for $2ea! They also had amazake, which is the most wonderful rice drink for $1! A lot of the local elderly come out on these days for bargains...it is precious! On the way to the shopping street from the station, there is a buddha temple. Its is very clean and pretty!

A nice bit retro shopping street, in Sugamo. Known for popularity with old people the food, clothes, fruits, other garlic, kampo, sweets and restaurants are reasonable and good. Check for the “red underpants” and get that thorn taken out of your stiff shoulder, by the Jizo? Then too, you can see and touch or pet the mascot Sugamo duck for good luck? I was impressed at the free WiFi and signage too.

It was fun shopping at Grandma's Harajuku! Items for sale are more traditional and you hardly see English on the stores. No bumps in the sidewalks for smooth walking. Look for Maruji store that sells red underwear, Kintaroame candy store with detailed faces, Goma Fukudo shop that sells black sesame ice cream, and monkeys guarding the Sugamo Sarutahiko Koshindo Shrine.

The place has many local shops and is fun to walk around. It is also famous for selling the red underwears, but I was very surprised to find that a boxer briefs can easily cost over CAD$20.

Less touristy place. Visited the place at night and the shops that are opened are largely eatery, convenient store, meat and fruit shop and cafes. Occasionally, one might bump into a mobile shop selling roasted sweet potato. A nice place for a quiet evening walk after dinner.

I like the fact that it's not too crowded. The shoppers are mostly local. Not much things for tourists but it's a great place to take a peaceful stroll.

A small shopping street compared to nearby cities. Cute and quaint. There is a temple nearby and there is a gachapon shop as of October 2023.

This street in Tokyo is a renowned pedestrian zone. While it primarily markets products geared towards the elderly, it's actually a delightful spot for families to explore. The shops lining the street mostly offer locally made Japanese goods, all reasonably priced. Many of the snack stores feature handmade items, and there's no evidence of tourists being deceived or charged unfairly. Walking the entire length of the street will take at least an hour. If you're keen on experiencing authentic Japanese local culture and traditions, this street serves as a charming and heartwarming example. A must-visit for those looking to immerse themselves in the local ambiance. No tickets needed and no parking available.

Several typical Japanese shops. Fair on the 04, 14 and 24 of the month. If you access it from Sugamo station An the end of Jozi Dori ride the local tram (Toden), only 2 left in Tokyo. An interesting afternoon stroll.

Very long shopping street. Good variety, shops selling clothings, jackets, shoes, hats, food items, snacks, grocery, cafe. Several shops cater to elderly folks. A nice mix of people both young and old visiting this area. There is a shop that sells wheeled-walker and other aids for the elderly.

A beautiful and charming old street, more popular with senior citizens. I almost wanted to skip this place as I thought I wouldn’t have much to do here since it’s for senior citizen, but luckily I did not. It’s a nice place, with many things to look at. Many shops selling variety of things, and also snacks. Good place for shopping, stretched about 800m, could easily spend 1 to 2 hours depending on speed.
