One of the sites the NYC Cloisters came from! The staff was very kind and excited to explain this to me (rather than resentful that some of the abbey ended up in the US). The details and colors of the abbey need to be seen in person. The hues of pink! The strange, pseudo-sexual grotesques engraved into the pillars!

In many ways this place reminded us of some of the abbeys in Wales - a working church surrounded by what would once have been. The whole place is evocative of a large community; the size of the church is astounding, the cloisters and the crypt equally large. We stayed for Mass following the morning opening which really added to the experience of a holy site.

Historic large abbey that has been partially restored. The church roof has been replaced. Information about the history is available. Cellars and crypt are impressive. Well worth a visit.

Very informative and helpful at the reception desk. Took great care to sanitise the handed out information in another language. Saw a informative video with different language subtitles. Lovely place to visit

We did not visit the Abbey, as no dogs allowed, but went to the Holy Well which is about 100m from the Abbey, dir. Prades, and on the opposite side of the road. Very nice location, the water is reputed to be beneficial.

An interesting place to enjoy a concert on a summer evening, provided you have a car and are not relying on public transportation, or, like someone I know, you could end up spending the night watching approaching thunder storms from a park bench (until the rain arrives, that is) but at least the clean but chilly restrooms were left open all night.

Well worth a visit we walked along through river to get there which is shady and a nice thing to do. The Abbey itself is fairly basic but worth a look

This is a lovely place. It is pre-Romanesque! Immense walls. Set in an incredibly beautiful location. It is worth walking outside. There are paths up a close by hill that has beautiful views. Look for a bench under a tree. Trains from Perpignan to Prades are 1€ each way. Takes a little under an hour.
