👍👍 Better to go up or down with some kind of material for snow...but great sights and very nice experience to go up with everything full of snow. Easy and short. People often mention stairs, view, views, Troms, beautiful,

Rather steppy. Great if you hate cables, cars, or combinations of the two. Still ice patches in June. 1200 pieces of up, every one worth the effort. On the way down, gravity helped.

Severely underrated easy “Hike” which makes for a great family activity or a longer evening walk. The fact that it actually are stairs means that you can stop to take a breath, sit down and enjoy the view whenever you need a small break, and yet the stairs naturally blend in to the nature so well that it won’t feel unnatural and you still feel the nature from the hike. Most of my Norwegian friends says it’s a 20 minute walk from bottom to top, but for me and my fellow ordinary people without Olympic stamina, I’d say more like 40 minutes given that you might need AIR while walking haha. Absolutely stunning walk which I would go on more often if I wasn’t such a couch potato 😅

Loved this hike! There were a lot of good break points. The stairs were fun. There were a ton of views that were soo beautiful! There were lots of cute rock formations at the top.

Views at the top are just gorgeous! Most beautiful views of Tromsø, especially at dusk. There's no parking at the beginning of the stairs as it is a continuous of a path. We parked at the cable car parking lot and walked for about 10 minutes. It's partly road in a residential area, partly steep incline path. Ground is wet and muddy at points. Stairs are uneaven, with turns going up the mountain. Plenty of resting areas, benches and wonderful views along route. It took us almost an hour including the path.

If you are in Tromsô don’t miss it. If you climb up night time take a changing clothes in your backpack.

Nice track. The Serpras claimed it. The views from the top are simply beautiful! The most beautiful view of Tromsø, especially at dusk.

One of the places you must see, if you are in Tromsø. Brilliant view for this town, sea and mountains.

Maybe it will help someone who doesn’t speak Norwegian so here goes: the stairs start exactly where it’s marked on the map and end next to the cable cart on top (dunno if I’m dumb, but I couldn’t find that information anywhere). Super easy hike.

Quite tough and steep, but beautiful views. Had to return because there was too much snow (end of May) and it was slippery. Did not have the right gear to make it to the top, but the views halfway were already breathtaking.

Nice Hiking! easy to medium effort. Ascending takes around 50 minutes from Tromsø downtown to the top in a normal walking ( with pause to take photos, watching the view) I recommend sticks to relief the knees if you need. A place must visit in Tromsø!!

Did this in the middle December, was a lot of snow covering the trail. Not as dangerous as I’ve read, you won’t fall off the mountain, just have to be careful and slow, if you’re able bodied you won’t have an issue. If you can get them easily or cheaply, bring crampons (bought from extra supermarket for 100nok) and ski pants. You can slide most of the way back down but it’s not ideal in jeans. We came down at about 1am and there were still a few people along the lookout points watching for lights. It’s a bit of a workout climbing up so be prepared to take your layers off.

If you go on winter time keep in mind that it is very cold there and everything is slippery! Dress accordingly ♥️

This was treacherous. If you are not used to winter hiking, be very careful. Towards the top the stairs were steep and completely covered in ice and it was very dangerous. The pictures below are right before it got very bad (we still thought it was manageable at this point). Definitely wear spikes on your shoes if you plan to go. I recommend taking the cable car, it is cheaper after 5pm.

If you do not have experience walking at higher elevations, then in winter you will need at least spiked shoes to climb to the top. In order not to risk your health, you can climb using a cable car. From the top you will find a stunning view of the city.

We did this hike when it had just snowed a lot, and the steps were nowhere in sight. If you want to do this in winter I recommend some ski pants, ice grippers and a fit body and it should be no problem. It took us about 1 hour and 30 mins to get up and sometimes we weren’t to sure if we were still on track, but eventually we got there and were reward with a nice vieuw. We didn’t see anybody else on the trail, I think we were the only ones crazy enough to walk up instead of taking the lift up. After a hot chocolade we decided to take the lift back down because walking down would have been like going down a slide

Gets icy in winter, but well maintained with some grit to help the trail. Slippy moments towards the top, so take ice grips for the higher parts if you need a boost, but worth it. Got the cable car down, as I didn't want to be on my bum!

Nice hiking to get beautiful city views. Hike is short but intense, be prepared for all the stairs up!

Nice hiking trail made from large blocks of stone by sherpas (hence the name). A bit crowded in the vaccation season, you need to antisipate some queing at peak hours

Probably an amazing view, but it snowed the night before, so it was slippery and full of melted snow after 300 steps. But even from the beginning of the steps, you have a nice view :)

Great trail! A bit slippery so I won’t recommend going down when it’s raining. Cafe at the end has lots of seating, good food options, and super friendly service ☺️ it’s all worth it

👍👍 Adorable quiet place, perfect for a walk and to admire the surrounding mountains. My favorite place in Tromsø is somewhere on the side of the lake (picture with the bench) :D

👍👍 Very cozy place for social gatherings with several benches, tables, simple huts and good toilets.
