This is probably one of the best designed hotel I have stayed. Every corner and details is worth a photo. Staffs are very nice too and their service is amazing. One of the downside is it is far from the train station. I hope they will offer shuttle bus soon to the station. I would love to stay here again but on winter. I’ve seen photos with snow and it looks beautiful.

We were highly recommended this hotel during our stay and decided to try it out after having stayed in Yunohama Onsen. I wish we would have just proceeded with our original plans to stay at Atsumi Onsen instead. First of all this hotel is in a TERRIBLE location! Its near big factories and a big ugly industrial building. These are all modern commercial buildings and its in an ugly dry field. Sure the hotel was modern, apparently it was just made recently. But there was nothing special about it. I can stay at a modern hotel in Tokyo or back in LA at anytime. Kameya was the same price and 10x better!

Amazing! One of the best hotel we stayed in Japan. The architecture of the building is beautiful, the details are breathtaking. The rooms a clean, update and very big. The spa is a must, before dinner and breakfast. We had dinner at the restaurant and enjoyed the food very much, the price was reasonable. The common area, the library and terrace gives you a warm and welcoming feeling. This hotel must be included in your plans.

New(ish) hotel in Shonai. Definitely need a car as there is nothing accessible within reasonable walking distance. Interesting architecture and using recycled materials with the interior furniture. I wish they had incorporated more of the local designs and architectures instead of making giant boxy concrete mazes of rooms. Rooms are quite small for the price you pay (¥30k for a double twin room). Food is not included. Very nice gym equipment. Smaller onsen for the size of the hotel. Not for me but I'd recommend others to stay to try it out.

I am very very impressed by this hotel's architecture, interior, and even amenities. The hotel is in the middle of paddy fields. The surroundings are green in late spring and yellow-ish by autumn. The hotel looks different at night and in the morning. Pro tips: 1) this is NOT walking distance from the train station. Take a cab. 2) Arrive during check in time so you can enjoy facilities, like the open air bath (onsen and sauna). 3) if you're lazy to go out, the restaurant offers buffet and ala carte dining. The best part is the breakfast: the selection features local tsuruoka food: fresh produce and well-cooked, and very flavorful. You'll enjoy your breakfast while having the mountain views. It's amazing!

Highlights: gym, onsen, sauna and open air bath! Helpful staff and good food Lowlights: the dryer took 4hrs to dry our clothes compared to other machines which take max 2 hrs. Convenience stores and hotel itself not too accessible without car during winter due to snow

Very modern new hotel located near rice field. The lobby, tge restaurants, library are very spacious but the rooms and hot spring area are rather small comparative to the overal design... which is not very understandable. The room design has very good good concept of using sustabable materials.

Beautiful hotel, very peaceful and relaxing relaxing. The staff were very helpful, friendly and attentive. They went out of their way to cater for a vegetarian which was greatly appreciated. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay.

Amazingly designed hotel. Any corner of the hotel is unique and will make you feel confortable especially the library area. I felt that one weekend is not enough and I want to come again. Also staff was very friendly and could accomodate my food requests (health problems), so huge thanks to eveyone at the hotel

Cozy place. I love the design of the hotel. The internal materials is mostly made by wood with a lot of big windows which gives you superb light transmissions. The room is big and clean. The facility provides you onsen spa and gym. Friendly and helpful staff. The location is a little bit off so the easiest way to get there is by car or taxi.

I liked everything. Exceptional design and build quality. Staff hospitality. Cleanliness. Great library and shop. This hotel alone is a reason enough to return to Tsuruoka.

Clean and modern design. Very clean hotel. But i think layout is a bit confused. There are nothing around here but you can enjoy the peaceful library and onsen inside.

Not in the middle of the rice fields at all. This hotel is in an industrial park and the ads are highly misleading presenting as it in the middle of nature or fields. Overpriced as well.

Probably best hotel I’ve ever been to. Staff were extremely nice and were very helpful with my lost baggage. Would definitely come back if I have the opportunity
