Wonderful view from the cafe! It’s a large restaurant with plenty of sitting options. Service was slow even though the restaurant was not busy. Server was nice but billed more than the food price, could not give the details, so we calculated and paid the right amount. We had lunch with Sea Bream & Tunisian Salad, portion size was good and food was regular. Nice place to have meal and enjoy the view.

Astonishing view, but extremely poor service, and the quality of the drinks and desserts served were not nearly good enough to justify the very high price. We paid 50 TND for a coffee, a fruit juice and a dessert. Earlier the same day we had a 3 course meal at a nice restaurant for also 50 TND. It’s worth coming by for the view, but don’t make your visit long unless you want to waste money on average-low drinks and sweets while being mistreated by rude waiters. They also pass around offering a tray of simple biscuits to accompany your coffee, that costs 20 TND, so remember to ask the price of whatever you order or accept, or you’ll be screwed.

SCAMMERS ! The place is touristic and the view is breathtaking, and that's why a lot of tourists visit it everyday. However the behaviour of the servants is very bad !! They are very rude, and don't like to be asked any question ! The prices are very very exagerated !!! If you go there around sunset time, it's usually busy, and the servants handle that by telling you the beverages menu verbally to be able to scam you later !!!! And yes ! You guessed it right ! When you pay expect to pay double if not triple !! What a shame to have people with such behaviour working in such place. A lot of people go there for the view, which can be seen from other spots ! I will never step there again.

Horrible place , avoid at all cost. We had a group of 9, they pick nice seats for us , but when we ordered a mint tea which costs 5 dinars ( they have a menu on the wall you can see it while you walking down the stairs) the waiter said it’s 15. When I asked for a menu he disappeared and after informed us the table we are seated at only for food not for drinks , even though one minute ago he wanted to sell us mint tea for 15 dinars . We didn’t want to argue so just left and found amazing view in Dar Zarrouk restaurant, even they were closed they let us enjoy the view. And after we had amazing tea at the restaurant just down the street near famous donut place . The view was stunning . Don’t go to Cafe des Délices , save your money and nerves , the city is full of amazing places and honest people. Pictures are from the other place can’t remember the name , maybe you can recognize.

Please do not go here. It is total rip off. They will not offer you the menu and only want to sell 10-15 dinar juices or teas. Just order a bottle of water for your whole family 3 dinar 500 and enjoy the view for 10 minutes than go and spend your saved dinars at the shops walking down. I posted a photo of the view so you do not even have to come to this cafe at all.

It’s well know that this place is a must for all tourists visiting Tunisia. However, the only pro about this Café is the view. The service was slow, the tables were dirty, and the food… the food was terrible. If you go there, just order drinks so you won’t get disappointed by the bad food.

The view and atmosphere is amazing. But, the food is average regarding the price. They serve croissants before the meal. We tried mint tea and chicken shawarma. Mint tea has almond inside and it was good. Shawarma was spicy.

The view is breathtaking. Although you need to be careful waiters will try to rip off you. They won't give you a menu. Check the prices before ordering. We ordered coffees the waiter came served us and proposed us a plate of average Tunisian pastries that we didn't order. The way he proposed it made us understood it is on the house. He didn't mention if we had to pay extra. When we asked for the bill he charged us 15 dinar for the pastries. We explained to him and his boss that he did not inform us of his intention and it is an abusive commercial behaviour to which they replied you already ate the pastries anyway. Looking at other comments it is a common practice in this cafe to deceive customers.

Lovely place for views. The staff could do with some training on customer service! Refused to help with WiFi code and they put mayo all over the chips when don't even like mayo! Great place for views and pictures but over rated on the food and customer service of the staff. The orange juice tasted more citris lemon juice. Milk shake was okay but blew off the table with the wind! (Out of ours and their control but they didn't seem too happy when the cleaning lady had to clean it up)

The ocean view is 5 stars. The taste of Tunisian traditional tea and coffee is three stars. Drinks are too expensive so one star.

View is 5 stars. But that’s it. It’s a touristy place, so it’ll be more expensive or course, I walked in knowing that - but it was recommended to me by a friend. I got the “couscous viande” (38 TD), which I found out was mouton sheep. I usually like lamb, however this seemed undercooked. I think lamb cooked like this is usually more on the rare side, however it really looked and tasted uncooked. The meat and couscous tasted overwhelmingly like the smell of animals. (As in, if you go to a farm or smell a camel - that is 100% how it tasted.) It tasted so gamey I couldn’t eat it and completely lost my appetite, which is not normal for me. I still feel bad, but it was just so terrible. The service is extremely slow, however they are nice people. They offered to bring me a different meal for free, as I hadn’t touched the couscous viande other than the few bites I took, but by then it was getting late and my appetite was far gone.

Yes, food is good and I like it. However, I do not recommend that place. This restaurant is a scam. I have paid a lot and after calculations I found the took more than I should pay. Also, they have an issue with the POS machine, so you have to pay in cash, and they take a lot of money away from the authorities' control. I do not recommend this place ever.

The place has a gorgeous view over the Mediterranean and Tunis. It's quiet relaxing and beautiful to sit here enjoying the view and a nice drink after a walk around Marsa. The waiters are a bit pushy with the tips, which is not so nice. I would have tipped anyway but I don't really like when they ask for the amount they want. So just beware of that or just pay by card.

Great view but food was expensive. The dish i ordered was tasteless. I found a piece of plastic in my food but would have been too much effort to try and explain in English. If you want the view, just buy a drink and get food elsewhere.

(Translated by Google) You have to go for the view, but not for the service. Clearly you are taken for a lemon that must be squeezed to the max. We arrived with the desire to have a drink to quench our thirst. The waiter (the one with the big belly) assures us that there is no menu for drinks, while in the distance I see a card displayed on the wall. He tells us that the smoothies we wanted to have cost 15 dinars each, or the equivalent of 5 euros, which is just extremely expensive for this country. Once he takes the orders, I'll check the price on the menu, and surprise the smoothie costs 10 dinars. When leaving, we tell him that the bill should amount to 20 dinars and not 30, and the second surprise, he takes out a card (finally there is one), he shows us the famous smoothies which are called "juice. of fresh fruit "on the card, and it says" well, here it is, it is 15 "(but it is written 10 on the card). Not even the courage to assume, he dares to claim the 10 dinars remaining at the end. It's just shameful to take people for such idiots. It gives a very bad image of Tunisia. What is certain is that we will not be returning to this cafe.

We always hear it's a must to come here but I say yes sure, the view is really something but that's it. Take your pictures and go. It's not worth it to eat nor drink there because it's ridiculous expensive and they don't look if the cutlery and dishes are dirty. I asked for a thé à la menthe and there was still lipstick on the glass. They served us a plate of tunisien pastries which we didn't ask for and at the end the server said we need to pay for them. It's a total tourist trap.

The views are the same as next door. Just average dishes, at the same time the price is quite high. Again, the waiter does not provide an invoice, trying to charge you a higher fee. Bad service.

I recently visited them expecting a delightful dining experience, but unfortunately, my encounter with the establishment left me deeply disappointed and frustrated. The mistreatment and poor service I received compelled me to share my experience. Upon entering the restaurant, I approached a waiter to inquire about seating availability. I requested a specific spot, only to be informed that it was reserved. Though slightly disappointed, I understood that reservations are a common practice in restaurants and proceeded to look for an alternative spot. To my utter dismay, shortly after I had stepped away, a group of individuals of different nationalities arrived and requested the very same spot I had asked for earlier. Astonishingly, the waiter promptly accommodated them without hesitation, seating them immediately. This blatant display of bias left me feeling undervalued as a customer. Feeling disheartened and disrespected, I decided not to proceed with placing an order. It is essential to note that the mistreatment I encountered had nothing to do with the food or ambiance of the restaurant itself. However, the service is an integral part of the overall dining experience, and unfortunately, it failed miserably in this instance. As a customer who values fair treatment and excellent service, I found it deeply disconcerting that such a discriminatory incident occurred. It is crucial for any establishment, especially a restaurant, to treat all patrons with respect, regardless of their nation

If you google for Tunisia and browse for images, you'll probably see some pics of café des délices. Awesome view and one of the symbols of Sidi Bousaid. The dark side now: 1- It is very expensive. Anything there is up to 10 times its real value or price in less famous coffee shops. 2- You will be likely to be scammed by its own waiters. The funny thing is that you are being alerted by this fact in the place's own menu. Yes.. it's written there to be careful from waiters. I've never seen this in any coffee shop or restaurant in the world. 3- Seats are not comfortable. Not at all. Maybe we like you to consume and then leave quickly for other persons to come. 4- Many places offering the greatest views are marked to be booked but they are never filled in. I've been there several times and those places are always being closed by some chairs to avoid clients seating there. 5- Quality of food there is questionable. 6- It's rather very very crowded at summer time. Avoid at summer weekends. Generally speaking.. avoid!

(Translated by Google) Café des Délices in Sidi Bou Saïd, VERY BAD PLAN unfortunately! I had been planning my outing in Sidi Bou for a long time and especially the Café des Délices, given the beautiful view. Since I don't live in Tunis, so we left yesterday afternoon, around 4 p.m. It was super hot! When we arrived at the café des délices, we looked for a place in the shade. The servers were passing by, without hello, without even looking at you. Looks like their pajamas at home. We have chosen a place on our own. Three minutes later, the waiter comes to ask us what we would like to drink. He doesn't give us a card. There were four of us. Someone asked for a lemonade, the others followed. I wanted a soda, they don't serve soda. It was necessary to list orally what they served. We have finalized an order for 4 lemonades and 1 bottle of water. Five minutes later, bdew ysay9ou (do the housework by pouring water). Since the coffee was in the form of stairs, I get a few drops on my face. Then they go to the floor where we were sitting. In the meantime we received our order. The waiter was in front of us in constant activity. He was stacking the tables, and so in front of us, instead of seeing the beach, we saw a mountain of tables. In passing, a centipede goes up the wall. Moreover, a family comes to sit next to us, and since they were badly received. The waiter asks them to change places so that he does the cleaning. So we decide to leave after these 15 minutes of pure happiness. And there the height! He tells us 52.5 dinars. When asked why? This is where he took out the card to show us that a glass of lemonade costs 12 dinars !!!! Knowing that you can buy 1 liter of lemonade for 5 dinars max at pastry shops !! 1- They do not have the right not to offer a card when ordering. And that's what they were doing with all the customers who walked past us! 2- To clean, either they close, or they do it before opening! It is very unpleasant. It's unfortunate that the service in such a lovely cafe gives a very bad impression! And the exorbitant prices for no reason! Lorsqu'on a demandé pourquoi ?

Café Journal ist a great place to calm down from the noise within the city. The sandwiches and burgers are quite good and most important the waiters are kind! If something is missing or it takes more time than expected - just asked - and they are doing their best. Sadly not the nicest view on a beach or something but definitely a great place to have a sunday lunch or an evening coffee;-).

Excellent food and relaxing atmosphere. The service is somewhat slow but everyone is very polite. We enjoyed delicious moka milkshakes and wonderful crepes, one chocolate almond and one meat and cheese. Both were well prepared and nicely presented. Very reasonable prices, about 35 dinars in total. We will definitely return and recommend this café.

the view is amazing in this place, it's one of the most beautiful places in all of in Tunisia, it's soo big that there is always a place to sit no matter how crowded it is, usually in winter it's kind of empty, but right now on July and august it's soo crowded, but soo amazing, the menu is good and there is a lot of options, and even with the large number of customers most options are available, the prices are high though, the mike shake I took was for 15TD and it was not that good or that large, there is much better options when it come to food, but the atmosphere and the view makes everything worth it.

Welcome to rip off land. Indeed a historical cafe, with a nice view, but unfortunately not only overpriced, but also straightforward dishonest ! The waiter wanted to sell us a juice fo 15 dinars, the tea at 10, off course not providing you with a menu. We got one when he handed one out to some Tunisian ladies one table away. Real price 10 dinars for the juice, 8 for the tea. Off course, tried to cheat also on the change! There are other places. Attached the pictures of the menu, in case this helps to defend yourself 🤔

But its worth it , the view is really nice !

Stunning view from the terrace. The menu is vast, they have local dishes and also international options. I ordered a local tea they make with pine nuts and it was delicious. In the peak period, service is very slow, as they have a lot of people to serve and little staff and some menu items might not be available. Overall a good place to visit if you are around that area.

Agree with general sentiment by the reviewers, such an ironic and beautiful place, yet the service has so much to be desired for. also everything is a rip off for the privilege of sitting down to enjoy the view, one mint tea cost me 10 TND, but yesterday I had a full plate of food in downtown Tunis for 6.

If you want to have a coffee or tea with a breathtaking view this is the place. We got there by our local guide and it's a small side of paradise in a way more messy city. Located on the hill south-faced, it gives the chance to admire the harbour and the sun falling behind the mountains at sunset. The only downside are the huge amount of tourists and, more, locals, screaming and making noise most of the time but if you manage in having a nice spot there's still the chance to enjoy the view in quiet and peace. Drinks are fine (nothing excellent but worth the view) and pricelist aligned with the other bars in the city.

(Translated by Google) The view is beautiful. However, the prices are a rip-off. 50 dinars for two espressos, a croissant 🥐 and an orange juice? This is not 4 seasons! They even have a fake menu they show it to you after they overcharge you. 2 stars for the impressive view! Sadly, the prices are deceiving and unaffensible especially for Tunisian people. If you are very rich, go for it! To be avoided because the prices are x 4 and the scam is a dime a dozen! 50 dinars for two direct coffees, a juice, a croissant that tastes like plastic, and a 50 cl bottle of water? Why? Even in Paris, I pay less! (Original) The view is beautiful. However, the prices are a rip-off. 50 dinars for two espressos, a croissant 🥐 and an orange juice? This is not 4 seasons! Scam. It is unfortunate such amazing view goes to waste because of how bad the cafe is. Horrible service ,unfriendly staff , super expensive prices. It already closed in the past for bad hygiene and over the top prices but was allowed to open again for some reason. As a Tunisian ,I know that tourists would go there for the view and be utterly disappointed with the service. Please avoid and go to better places.

Pretty expensive, & definitely a tourist trap, but we're still happy that we were able to enjoy sunset there. I'd say still worth the experience if you're in the area anyway! Just don't expect the food to be great.

It was a wonderful time. A little beat hot. The waiter even tell me the price before we set down ( lessons learned from robbing the tourists that started to avide this legendary caffe in Sidi Bou Said) Also they have the menu on the wall now. For 2 teas and one smoothie we paid 35 tunisian dinars (approx. 10€) Of course there was no pay check. So be careful to order everything to a same waiter. Also the best tea I have ever drank.

Located in Sidi Bou Said it is quite a walk to get here but it is definitely worth it as the view is stunning! The service was great, the waiters were friendly and polite. The mint tea with almonds was delicious! The crepe we had was also very good. It’s a very beautiful peaceful scene and we enjoyed our visit.
