Warung Babi Guling Ibu Oka 3

Restaurant Indonesian restaurant Balinese restaurant

🫤 Now this place is more about hype than the substance. There was nothing that we ordered that we hated, but at the same time nothing that wowed us or we haven’t tried in the 5 other Babi guling places. When it comes to the roast pork, the skin is of course the best part. They give you just one reaso... People often mention pork, skin, meat, crispy, guling, soup, taste, good, babi, great,

Now this place is more about hype than the substance. There was nothing that we ordered that we hated, but at the same time nothing that wowed us or we haven’t tried in the 5 other Babi guling places. When it comes to the roast pork, the skin is of course the best part. They give you just one reasonable piece! We wanted to order more of it but the staff advised it was sold out (we dined around 1pm and she recommended to come when they opened at 11am to guarantee a serving. Pointless!) everything was fine but like I said nothing out of this world and you can get at any other Balinese street store. The coconut drink was dull and flavourless. Come if you must, just don’t have any high expectations.

The place was pretty big, much much bigger than the branch near the Puri Ubud junction. Unfortunately, the food isn't so good. I've been to the junction branch many many times and I could swear the food is better there. Maybe due to to the hectic season (which is why I couldn't get a seat at the junction branch in the first place).

Large portion of foods! About 50k-70k for set meal, very tasty 😋 Crispy pork skin and fried meat, but the rice is a bit dry and it will be better if they have other type of sauces or sambal for customers to choose. I personally think the 70k full set package with soup is sufficient for 2 persons (can add on a rice or something else).

Can be difficult to find, as it's down a narrow alleyway, but I'd say it's worth it. You get a lot of food for the price and it's quite good. The place is big and has ample seating area and plenty of staff. My food arrived within seconds of ordering.

I love babi guling and this is personally my favorite. We even ordered extra skin portion (75k). Do come early otherwise the skin may be sold out by then. They are open at 11am! I also try to go to this branch because i was told that others are not as consistent and i never wanna risk it. Pricing wise it is higher than other babi guling places by about 20-25% but i kept coming back here if i am at Ubud.

As an Asian, I find any restaurant serving cold rice is rather unacceptable. But it was not only rice was cold, everything else was cold. Cold meat, cold soup. Taste of the foods was not good. As can be seen from the photo, I could only force myself to eat 1/4 of the portion, although I came in hungry.

Highly recommended. If you can, go twice. We just loved it. The restaurant has such a beautiful view. The food was just amazing. The service was super nice and it was no problem when we asked for more meat for our girls without the spices. Enjoy!

The taste is great. I would admit that this is the best Babi Guling around Bali. Crispy pork and curry paste are super delicious. But I don’t like the atmosphere that much. Location is hard to find.

Possibly one of the best and most affordable places to try authentic babi guling in Ubud. Finding it is a bit of a hunt down an alley or two, but this only adds to the air of mystery. Crispy skin goes great with a Bintang or two. The soup is nice , as all the accoutrements. Very spicy but great value and very highly appreciated 👍

The roasted pork should be the best part but not that really WOW us as we expected cuz if I have to compared with roasted pork skin we had, this is not really really the most amazing one lah. And the pork meat feel a bit try and the skin is not so crispy as we expected and less juicy. But I give the credit to their juice which taste so good not so sweet.

A highly recommended restaurant by local indo. Went there at about 11:30 am so I believe the pork is still fresh. Taste is ok in general, but pork skin isn’t crispy. Also not sure is everyone could enjoy the sausage made in pork blood

The skin was perfectly crispy with the signature Ibu Oka flavour. The meat was juicy and really well cooked, and the soup was just a perfect condiment. Really really good food! The only reason I've dropped the rating is that they have chained live cockatoo birds on display. This is an absolute travesty, and has no place in today's day and age. You can see how depressed the birds are, and shouldn't be chained on display just for Social Media posts. If you're someone that believes in the humane treatment of animals, I wouldn't recommend it, as you will leave very upset. I've been a loyal fan of Ibu Oka's (other branches) for some time now, and it left me very disheartened to see this.

Large dining area, but you have to go through small alley. One of the legend babi guling in Bali. They offer parking space for guest dining in.

Went there about 2pm. It was relatively empty as its pass lunch time. Order the rice with all the dishes, additional skin, vegetables and soup. However, the pork was really bad as it doesnt have much taste it crispy skin was not crispy at all. Maybe I head down during the wrong day, I am not sure, but only the soup tasted nice.

If you want to try roast baby pig,it’s great location, not far from Ubud palace. Not much items you can choose, but it is traditional Indonesian food 🥘, crispy pork skin, nice pork meat with great sauces. I am very satisfied with the food and service here 👍.

The selection of meats was limited, and the food was not warm. The skin wasn't crispy, and was quite chewy (not easy nor pleasant to eat) and was underseasoned. The pork meat was lean and nice, but dry. The squash dish is the only option for vegetarians, as even their salad contains meat. Service was really good and prompt, which is one of the reasons this visit didn't feel like a total waste.

Really flavoursome food - this roast pork is delicious - as some other reviewers have noted, don't expect western style roast pork. There were some takeaway customers smoking while wait to collect their meals which isn't particularly healthy.

Really enjoyed this restaurant! Each bite was so flavourful and exactly what I was looking for in terms of eating local Balinese food. I highly recommend the special combo platter if it’s your first time there because it allows you to taste most items on their menu (and for only 75000 IDR! And comes with soup!)

Well known Babi guling in Ubud. Overall tasted decent but made me want to hunt for a better one. Go early so you can order extra skin. The pork had a lot of flavor and had a lot of herb kind of taste. Interestingly they had parrots and giant koi fish outside to see.

I was there specifically for the babi guling, but, regrettably, I didn't find the food to my liking. It's a matter of personal taste, as I felt the pork meat lacked flavor and the skin wasn't as crispy as I had hoped. Nonetheless, I did appreciate the restaurant's ambiance. It had a pleasant setup with large trees providing a visually appealing atmosphere.

Typical but not great. Price is the highest of the 3 nasi babi guling I had in Bali. But didn't stand out to be honest. Basically similar dish in Kuta suffice.

The food was so so, the meat had some funky taste. The crispy skin is so small as you can see in the picture. I always say :”you don’t know till you don’t try it.” Definitely waste the money for what I got ..

Amazing food. Generous portion. Great view facing the bamboo forest. Food was totally overpriced though. 75k for a serving.

👍 Ordinary food in a spectacular location, in the middle of rice paddy. The crispy duck is really crispy, a bit too dry. The sate lilit is delicious. The gurami goreng bit bland / tasteless. Nor the sauce / sambal nor the fish have any taste. It also would be better if they have soup in their menu to...
