One of the British legacy school founded in 1929. Founded as a science school but developed excellence in both arts and science. Training ground for per-independnce technocrats. School's past glorious records fell into deplorable dilapidation, but take over of the school by a Trust set up by oldboys of the institution gives great hope for the restoration of its infrastructure and excellent academic records.

A very good school for boys especially now the old students have taken over the school.

This is Government Colleges Umuahia (GCU ), formerly FISHER HIGH SCHOOL. this school was established in 1929, founded by ROBERT FISHER. Its one of the oldest schools in former IMO STATE ( comprising of Imo, ABIA, and EBONYI States) It's a citadel of learning where great men were formed, discipline instilled in the heart of every student. The serenity of the environment is best for good academic exercise. Within the premises, there are ample spaces for sporting activities, it host 2 standard football pitch, volleyball court, lawn tennis courts also. Enough accommodation for boarding students and staff quarters.
