We came for the thali mainly which was a little disappointing. The variety did look good on google photos however the flavours werent all there. You had to buy extra naan or roti which was silly as one small naan with that much curry was never going to be enough. The dessert was disappointing as we were looking forward to the gulaab jamun and ice cream. I took 11 of my family members and the customer service was no good. The staff were very rude at the end of our meal and charged so much for the service when there wasnt much of a service in the first place. Nice atmosphere but I don't think I'll be coming back here.

Had a wonderful lunch time with my colleagues at Kayal. It is a must to have masala dosa as the taste itself is quite authentic in my opinion. We had papadoms, chicken briyani and a few types of curries as well. I wish the portions could have been more generous. Other than that, the service and the food quality are absolutely great. I forgot to order a masala tea but this makes a good excuse for me to make a second visit ;) P.S. They put the receipt in a treasure box - how cute is that.

Absolutely fantastic meal. Reasonably well priced too. Let down by slightly slow service for a Wednesday lunch time but overall brilliant. Thank you.

The food here is amazing and some of the best curry dishes I've ever had. I came here with my partner and grandparents and we all had a great time, the atmosphere when we went was nice and relaxed and the servers always made sure we had water at our table. Would recommend anyone who is in Nottingham looking for somewhere to eat a curry to come here.

Came on a very quiet Sunday, service was still superb and the food came out quickly. We shared a dosa to start, really lovely shredded chicken inside and a gradual build up of heat, would definitely recommend. We then had the duck curry and seafood curry, both full of flavour. Huge prawns and mussels, though the squid was slightly over as it was cut into small pieces. The paratha was divine. Only slight let down was the faint smell of chlorine and the toilets looked in need of a really deep clean around the sink etc. Overall an authentic and flavoursome experience, somewhere to go if you want to mix up your standard Indian experience.

Absolutely loved it! The place in itself was amazing with all the interior decor and background music which set the right vibe. The food was delicious and very nicely plated. Would definitely recommend trying their mixed seafood curry, kalloppam and chillie chicken. The staff were very friendly. We will definitely go again :)

Great service, great vegan food, and some of the friendliest staff you will meet. Truly excellent value for money and a unique menu you won't forget in a hurry. I loved the interior design, the wide variety of foods and the interesting drinks offered to me. Every detail here has been thought of and planned out to make the experience memorable for customers. Would certainly recommend!

Loved the place. The ambience was so good. Even though a bit expensive I was happy to find authentic Kerala food in Nottingham. This have to be one in the few Kerala restaurant that have retained authenticity of the south Indian cuisine. Will go there again for sure

I am writing to express our heartfelt gratitude for the exceptional experience we had during our team dinner at your establishment in Nottingham. The evening was truly memorable, thanks to the fantastic food, impeccable service, and warm ambiance you provided. From the moment we stepped in, your staff made us feel welcomed and attended to our every need with a smile. The menu offered a delightful variety of dishes, and each one was a true culinary masterpiece. The flavours and presentation were impeccable, and everyone in our team thoroughly enjoyed their meal. We were particularly impressed with the attention to detail and the knowledge of your waitstaff, who guided us through the menu and recommended some excellent choices. The dishes arrived promptly and were served with great care. Moreover, the ambiance of your restaurant added a touch of elegance to our evening. The decor and lighting created a pleasant atmosphere, allowing us to relax and enjoy each other's company. The success of our team dinner can be attributed to your restaurant's commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. We cannot thank you enough for making this occasion so special for all of us. Please extend our compliments to your entire team, including the chefs and servers, for their hard work and dedication. Kayal Restaurant has certainly won a special place in our hearts, and we look forward to visiting again soon. Thank you once again for an unforgettable evening.

One of the best South Indian restaurant I have ever had in UK. Initially I thought it would be the same as other Indian restaurants but the food they served was yummy cannot describe the taste it was really a good experience, cost wise it was little expensive but worth for the money we paid ,I would definitely suggest this restaurant. Thank you team for the wonderful food .

me and my friend adore this place, coming every/every other week - we can’t seem to stop! the business lunch is superb value for money; as students who enjoy small plates and tapas kind of foods, it is perfection. even when I don’t like one of the dishes on a given day, there are still three more and the two chutneys to keep me happy.

A really nice find in the city centre specialising in South Indian cuisine and does the basics well - dosa is a must try if you're new to this type of food and comes with a good (but not wasteful) amount of sambar, coconut and tomato chutneys! The deserts were a bit hit-or-miss (especially the banana roast), but the gulab jamun or mango kulfi was probably the best - the latter being neither too sweet nor heavy. The vadai was pretty perfect! The vibe was pretty perfect and it did get crowded, but you can reserve a table the day prior if you have a larger party. The best part was the friendly servers - they were super helpful and friendly.

Great atmosphere and decor. Had the chicken biryani which had lots of flavour and crispy onion garnish that came with a "gravy" and yogurt sauce. Biryani rice was tasty but the chicken was a bit dry. Family had the seafood chakara platter (not the starter seafood platter). Although it was Β£33, Two fish kebabs, 2 grilled king prawns, fishcake, scallops, lemon rice and garnish. Split as two mains made it very delicious and good value. Kayal serving Keralan cuisine which is south Indian seafood is pretty damn tasty. I wished I could come for their business lunch for an extravagant Thali, but it is only on Mon -Fri 12pm -3pm.

The food was amazing, music kept the atmosphere lively, and lots of oddities on the wall such as a Royal Enfield bullet bike. An all round great place to visit. My first ever 5 star rating goes to this place. No wonder they won an award for 9 years straight!

I recently dined at "kayal Nottingham," and it truly lived up to its name. From the moment I stepped through the door, I was impressed by the elegant and sophisticated ambiance. The dimmed lighting, tasteful decor, and soothing background music set the perfect tone for a memorable dining experience. The menu at Kayal is a culinary journey through a world of flavors. What truly sets this restaurant apart is the exceptional service. The staff was not only attentive but also extremely knowledgeable about the menu and wine pairings. They made wonderful recommendations that enhanced the overall experience. Our table was handled by Mathew and Jomerry. The attention to detail extended to the wine selection, which was impressive and well-curated, offering a perfect match for each dish To conclude, kayal is a haven indeed for those seeking a semi fine dining experience. The combination of impeccable service, a thoughtfully crafted menu, and an elegant ambiance makes it an excellent choice for special occasions or any time you want to treat yourself to a memorable meal. I left kayal with a full heart and a satisfied palate, eager to return for another indulgent dining adventure.

A lovely south Indian restaurant situated at the heart of Nottingham serves authentic Kerala food. Perfect for a nice meal out or even a quick lunch. Kayal Nottingham has a great range of dishes for affordable prices. Our server Shivam was kind enough to accommodate us despite the restaurant being busy. The menu is well thought out and helpfully informative. We were absolutely blown away with the quality of food and service this place offered. We ordered Kallushap Meen Curry along with Neychoru (Ghee rice) and thali. The food tasted as amazing as it looked. Thank you Kayal for the lovely experience it reminded us of home and we are definitely coming back for more.

Excellent service and delicious food. I had the Chilli Paneer as a starter, followed by the Masala Dosa. Both dishes were gorgeous, but with hindsight I probably should have just had a main dish, as both dishes were quite big and I couldn’t manage to finish the Dosa. I also had the Masala Tea which was equally delicious. Highly recommended.

The food at Kayal is full of flavour, unique and delicious. They also have a great range of cocktails. The service is great, however it is a pricey place to eat, and it adds up quickly.

Good customer service. Very nice ambiance. Seasonal grilled fish was not cooked properly. Chicken skew curry & the fresh juice was really good. Appam was very cold. Expected hot and crispy at the corners but turned out to come as cold set dosa.

As usual the food and service was excellent, all five of us had sea food based mains which we all shared ( too many to list) the banana pack contains fish Biriani. We shall definitely return

Four of us had a meal here on Tuesday the 7th of December before visiting a show at the Nottingham Arena. We explained we were in a little bit a of rush because we did not wish to miss the show and the the staff catered to our needs without effort. The whole meal was superb and extremely delicious and tasty. We were so impressed that the four of us decided we would return again within in the next few weeks and try out more of their great menu. Finally I must point out that all the staff were extremely friendly and made our visit a pleasurable one.

Disappointingly average. Very expensive for what was mediocre food. It lacked any real taste or bite. The service was not very good but thankfully the company was.

πŸ‘πŸ‘ Absolutely amazing! I went to have lunch on my graduation day with my friends. Food was very flavourful and cocktails were nice. Special dietary options are available and you always get 2-4-1 cocktails. Service was really friendly and approachable. Ambience and music is just cherry on top.
