I have been visiting DonDon for many years and still can’t stop going there. Highly recommend!

This place is wonderful. The donburi is delicious, and the tofu inexplicably so (disliked it for years but now I’m a convert!) Dishes are made fresh but service is very quick. Contactless payment speedy and simple. All the toppings and extras are a delight. Prices are good value. Simple menu – there is enough of a choice to keep everyone interested but not so much as to be hard to choose. The entrance is wheelchair accessible – no step. The guy who runs it is very good natured and goes the extra mile. And the first time I visited, the next person in the queue ordered in Japanese, having lived there for years and vouched for how good the food is. Highly recommended to anyone in/near Clifton for lunch.

Been wanting to visit for ages, and the food didn't disappoint. A warm window seat with some karaage, vegetables and pickels made for a perfect Tuesday lunch. The owner was super friendly and made the little corner of Bristol feel like a small lunchtime joint in Tokyo. Can't wait to get back again.

Absolutely delicious and authentic Japanese food, and all run by a one man show!!! I’m so glad to have found this gem! The chicken was cooked to order and absolutely perfect. Would recommend

Just superb. Friendly and fast service. Excellent and authentic Japanese lunches. It’s not a market stall downtown any more (like some of the photos show), it has its own proper shop in Clifton near the Triangle.

Street stall selling flavorful Japanese donburi. We had the chicken karaage donburi (rice bowl). You get to choose 3 toppings and they were all delicious. Available only every Tuesday though.

I absolutely love this place. I always get takeaways whether it’s donburis or bento boxes and it tastes amazing. Highly recommend it to any students or anyone who wants to enjoy food.

Really nice service and maybe it was because I went at 1:30 pm (they close at 2:30pm), but the karaage chicken was soggy and rice a bit overcooked. In saying that, the flavours were great and the quality of the rice used excellent. The vegetables were great.

Freshly made donkatsu bento is the best in town. Gives you authentic experience of Japanese dining. The sauce is spot on and there are a range of different options.

Delicious authentic Japanese food at a fair price. I go for lunch here once a week. Run single handed by friendly owner. The cues are regularly out the door speak for themselves - always worth the wait. Highly recommend.

kaarage donburi was really good! I also hate celery but they made pickled celery that was amazing, i was surprised myself when I enjoyed it. I would say that i’d rnjoy it slightly more with more rice but thats me being nitpicky. Besides that I’d highly recommend it!!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Have eaten from here many times with my partner and we absolutely love it. If you like Japanese food you will adore this. Owner is always polite and friendly, atmosphere is charming and the food is amazing. Highly recommend the Katsu curry, probably the best I have ever tasted. Can't recommend enough.

I’ve only tried the veggie options and they are all delicious! You get a very good portion (the tempura veg literally doesn’t fit in the box sometimes) and it feels like proper comfort food. Not all the side dishes are for me, but they change regularly so there is always something tasty to try. I love coming here on my lunch break when I want a hot meal.

What a cool place - I walked past and went in out of curiosity (and hunger) and got the karraage bento. It was delicious, all the different elements tasted amazing and the owner was really friendly. This is one lunch place you dont want to miss.

Best bento I've had. Just what I needed for a hot day. Nicely balanced acidic condiments and well seasoned chicken with a ton of flavour. Will stop by the next time I'm around, that's for sure!

Simply divine. The food is fresh, beautifully served, portioned and presented. The flavours are joyfully authentic and the owner Makoto, is part of the experience. He's a wonderfully calming, welcoming presence, creating a warm and homely atmosphere. I've been a few times now and I can't wait to visit again soon - とても美味しい (very delicious!)
