🫤 The gym itself is OK. The manager was a little rude to me when it reopened after the first lockdown. The trouble is when you put yourself on waiting lists for classes, and someone then cancels the night before for a morning class, you might not realise you have a place. So if you don’t turn up it’s... People often mention equipment, pool, staff, Nuffield, room, member, months, broken, membership, classes,

The gym itself is OK. The manager was a little rude to me when it reopened after the first lockdown. The trouble is when you put yourself on waiting lists for classes, and someone then cancels the night before for a morning class, you might not realise you have a place. So if you don’t turn up it’s a mark against your name. This happened to me on a couple of occasions and i was subject to a rather brusque phone call from the manager. What also irks me is that gym class capacity/gym classes/ pool capacity has been reduced significantly, the gym capacity itself has been reduced, services such as the sauna and steam room have been reduced, the ability to even use the changing room has been discouraged, all in the name of covid. But the prices have remained the same. Hardly seems fair or value for money. I’ve kept my contract for now out of convenience but I’m considering changing gyms as soon as possible. I wish Nuffield would sit up and take notice. It feels the company just aren’t investing in making the gyms good centres, everything about them feels lacklustre.

Male locker room thefts - the gym itself is alright, which I have been using for a few years. However, someone broke into my locker on Thursday evening and took my wallet, money and my jeans(!!)., my padlock was completely gone. the same thing happened to another gym member. I reported it to the reception, they took all my details but it seemed they cared more about finishing work and going home than being concerned about thefts happened to their customers. It’s been a few days, and there was no follow up from them since. Guess it happens pretty often and they couldn’t care less. Terrible terrible!

Friendly and nice staff, everyone is friendly and generally up for a chat so it is a pleasant place to be. Gym is spacious and never too busy which is nice. However the facilities are very out of date and poor. The weights are literally falling apart, old equipment and the showers often have no hot water or very lukewarm water. The whole place needs a renovation and if I am honest doesn't meet the standards you would expect from a Nuffield. There are some equipment which have been out of order for like 2 months(stair master) and it makes you think that no money is being put into this gym and maybe 10 years ago it was amazing but now it seems ready for retirement. The gym is right opposite the bus stop which is why I still go here but if you drive and have the flexibility maybe shop around a bit.

A few things: 1. They increased my monthly fee mid-contract (they're allowed to, but such terrible behaviour) 2. They breached the terms of the contract by increasing my monthly fee and not giving me one month's notice. 3. A general lack of care for the place: broken equipment, water fountains not working properly (which the manager said when I signing up would be fixed shortly 🤠). Although the cleaners do a fantastic job of keeping the changing rooms clean. 4. Sauna is more often 60-70 degrees than it is 80 degrees 5. Some of the staff are lovely and friendly, others are not friendly at all. In fact I never once got a "Hi" or "Good bye" from the manager. 6. Closing the jacuzzis, permanently. I'd suggest avoiding unless this is very easy for you to get to, or at least avoid being in a 12-month contract

Great gym but need serious renovating, the shower rooms and drains smell of mould and savage.. the celling tiles are in mould and the sauna room wood is just about breaking apart. Just to add that jackuzzi is not working since last year when i firstly joined.

This is a full honest review of Nuffield Croydon. This is my home gym and have been going here for about 6 months. As far as gyms go, this is a pretty standard gym with the added benefit of a pool. The issue lies with the quality of equipment, space, decor and cleanliness. The staff are friendly and like to chat with customers. One critic would be that they need to tell people who slam weights down to stop. It’ll stop equipment from getting damaged and creating a off putting environment. If you need to slam a weight down, you probably shouldn’t be lifting it. Starting with the car park. It’s good that this is an added benefit to the gym, if you can get a space. There’s no dedicated spaces for gym users so the soft play and trampoline park get really busy so families park in front of the gym, which means if you drive there at certain days/times, you won’t get parked. Spaces in the gym. There’s a big space downstairs which used to be used for PTs, cafe and I’d assume overflow. I’ve never seen it open or at use for the past few months, it’s a wasted space which could improve the available space. There’s studios upstairs which is great for classes and stretching areas when not being used. The weight room is in serious need of an update. Mirrors are cracked, weights are degrading and it’s pretty small. It can get very crowded very quickly. Becomes very off putting when you can’t get on any of the outdated equipment and have to squeeze past people due to the equipment being so close to one another. The cardio space is better but still has a lot of flaws. There’s lots of cardio equipment, however, most the time they’re often broken or “under maintained”. They never have dates to when they’ll be fixed. Again, the equipment is dated and needs replacing with better, working gear. The TVs on the treadmills are often broken or have no connection. The pool. The pool is a good size, it is an added benefit of this gym. But. There’s often classes certain parts of the days which means the lanes are unusable. There’s also sessions for families to bring kids in which makes the experience less enjoyable. The hot tubs aren’t usually on or one is open and the other closed (this might be to save money but when you’re paying alot per month, it should be on for members). The pool area also has a steam room and sauna, which are always busy! But fine if you don’t mind that. Now the changing rooms and corridor to the pool aren’t often clean. It needs more attention, especially with after what everyone has been through the past few years. The decor is dated, walls are chipped, cracked or stained. Sometimes building work looks like it’s been started but never finished. Overall, I wouldn’t go here. For a simple membership is about £60-£70 per month and for the quality of the gym/pool and overall atmosphere, better off going to a PureGym. I’d give this a 1 and a half stars tbh. I’ll be reviewing my membership and searching for a new gym.

Poor, occasionally come here as near my partners house, needs refurb asap, most fountains don't work, most gym equipment like benches missing screws etc, massive health and safety issue. No water machines working? Since coming like a month ago or so there's now an additional like 8 machines that don't work? This place takes your money which is way more then a leisure centre but doesn't wanna fix anything?

Staff are lovely! I have a lot of time for them! The facilities however are so poor. This place really need a major renovation. Mens showers always smell bad. Facilities like Steam room and hots tubs are constantly out of use sometimes for more than a month!I joined 8 months ago but I'm now seriously considering paying the extra to go to David Lloyd. Please take this review on board and give this place a major upgrade,

Mixed feeling from the first moment. Guy who picked up the phone was vague and I could feel he doesn’t care. We just wanted to see it for the first time as it has facilities that we require. Paid £15 for two just to try the pool. Very poor up-keeping, dated, yellow stains on tiles, missing tiles- I hurt my skin in the jacuzzi as I rubbed it off on the missing tiles. Kilograms of lime scale, general dirt in the pool lots of dirty sand. Very uncomfortable. Swam three lengths and we were enough of this place. Would not sign membership ever for this club.

I am appalled by the customer service at this gym. Never come across a gym like this. I have been contacting the gym with emails and phone calls since December and no one has contacted me back! They have given me emails to explain the issue to and still yet no response for many months! I am disgusted!

Matthew Sennett has brought down the gym customer service and quality of the gym, very much like his sorry self. This used to be a good gym but not anymore. I’m looking at another gym now after being there for years.

Can't wait for my contract to finish. Nobody cares about the state of the gym or the members. Things are broken (the air conditioning now, the swimming pool in February, the machines in the weights area and water fountains a couple of months ago) and they still have the cheek to raise the price mid contract. The only answer you get from management is to go to Norbury or Merton instead. Ok then...

Disappointing. Great staff, awful facilities. Sauna and spa poor up-keeping. Showers are broken, tiles are missing on floors. Members disregard cleanliness, leaves wet wipes everywhere changing rooms. Use a bin! The equipment needs updating too. Currently poor facilities not reflecting standards of Nuffield club.

Friendly staff but really poor at fixing equipment and other main facilities. Steam room out of action since 29th December. When I asked about it after two weeks a member of management said two weeks was good for Nuffield. Obviously have low standards if they feel that is acceptable. We are now 23rd January and still not rectified

I don't think I've had better customer service ever. I can confirm that it was the best customer service from gym/health provision. They went out of their way to look after me and gave me pass for my short stay in Croydon. Genuine smiles, I felt the love. As for Alex and David. I wish there were more people like this.

Poor gym ... Over priced membership fee If u compare with nearest gyms. I started to pay extra through my gympass app for this gym but after ,2nd visit I have decided to cancel this gym from my gympass. Full of old gym equipments, looks like rustic gym . Poor receptionist too.

AVOID AT ALL COST! Been a member of Nuffield for many years but this particular club is a nightmare. Management is absolutely atrocious, I can not believe Nuffield Health employ such individuals to say the least. Extremely rude and highly unprofessional! I don’t pay to be insulted and made to feel like I’m less than. Wouldn’t advise any young female to workout here. A few trainers are nice and nice members, but my overall experience has been absolutely shocking! Never coming back, this club definitely lets the brand down!

I am currently a member. The gym is in a poor state of repair. Almost all the cardio machines are due replacement. The steppers and stair masters are particularly bad. The bearings are clearly worn the action is not smooth and half the equipment makes grinding or whining noises. The main Gym has non functioning air conditioning so it is sweltering. The men's changing room is like a borstal from the 1970s. The budget gyms have a much higher standard and quicker replacement of equipment. Nuffield need to sort out this gym! guganclrefurbishment.nodelayingrefuutherefurbishment

Fix your equipment. Most things are out of service and broken for months now !! Most handles on machines are ripped and broken. Also update equipment the machines are very outdated. Open up the jacuzzis you taking good money from us every month. I understand all of your Personal trainers train at KINGS gym but bring some of that kings gym inspiration to our club. Then cutting costs masked as environmental stuff by taking away tissue for us to wipe our sweat with.

I was willing to pay a premium price for a gym membership because I wanted a premium experience. Unfortunately, you won't get this from Nuffield. Something is ALWAYS broken. And to make matters worse, it will stay broken for months on end! At the end of my current membership, I will be looking elsewhere. This isn't worth the premium price tag.

I love it here. Classes are on point (@ Monifa, spinning), HIIT, aquarobics, all of them! The instructors are all very professional and friendly, classes are run on time and if there are cancellations, you're told about it Shower has hot running water, spa area is clean, swimming pool and poolside is clean and warm. I was a member at Sports Direct and it was S***! I wish I had joined Nuffield years ago! I'll take pics next time. Only thing I would say is Nuffield should introduce a membership where if you introduce a friend/family they get a discount.

Good location , dirty toilets & it’s a shame girls that come here eat so much that they are 3x the size of a man. Wobbly like jelly. I know it’s now acceptable to be obese and die from over eating waiting to be treated for diabetes. But there should be a limit . It’s not fair on men . Very few normal weight around . Just because men still go with fatties , it doesn’t mean we like them. Farmers go with sheep , it’s just because we are desperate and not because obesity is beautiful

Considering the cost, the overall aesthetics do not align. Old, dirty and equipment not working. For the monthly cost, I would expect so much more. Could do with an upgrade, definitely not worth the price.

I've been going to this gym for just over a year now. Regardless of which exercise I want to do, there is always a machine that i can use, I particularly like the spacious feeling in the rooms I use, e.g the main gym and the swimming pool. While there are a couple of grumpy (looking) staff members (I'm sure they would be nice if I intereracted with them), the majority of the team are excellent at making me feel welcome. Considering the activities and habits of some of the more 'disagreeable' gym users, I think the standard of hygiene at the gym, while on some days found to be wanting, is on average very good. I always look forward to going to the gym and the 'see you again soon' feeling I get as I leave. It is my responsibility, as much as that of the gym team, to have a great experience and I do my bit just as, I believe, most of the staff do - given the tough times we live in.

I joined this Gym over 6 weeks ago, and I am very impressed, the staff make you feel welcome and are always available to help. There is more then enough machines to use which is ideal.

This isn’t my home gym but I love this branch the best. I don’t use the spa so can’t comment on that but the staff are by far the loveliest! Marvin and Hannah’s Dancefit sessions make a huge difference to me and Fantas classes too. Fredrick on reception is so lovely as well. Thanks for making me feel welcome it means a lot.

so frustrated. has been impossible to get booked in to the classes for months now. so many times the pilates booking opens under 24 hours before the class - meant to be 8 days. all the spaces are gone in 5 minutes when the list does open. get on the waiting list and occasionally a space becomes free minutes before the class and this counts as a no show - yet if I go to the gym in case a space becomes free they don’t allow access. i have spoken to reception numerous times who say nothing they can do and left messages on website with no response. pool access very limited as have so many classes and struggling to understand what I am getting for my membership fee. very unhappy
