This is my first visit to this restaurant. I can’t say enough good things! The decor and ambience is festive when you walk in the door, and the cocktails and food were perfect. The rice bowls were a delight and a first for me. Our server Dawson was amazing and I can’t wait to come back as soon as possible.

A lot of thought goes into making their perfect margarita! From there, it's about which of the dozens of choices do you decide for a taste of mezcal. The bartender is very knowledgeable and easy going. Even their espresso is spot on. Get there early as it fills up quickly!

I was absolutely blown away by the genuine care and love put into every aspect of this restaurant! First and foremost, don't be scared that it's not Mexican food like fajitas and nachos that you can get at the 1 billion other copies of what people think of as Mexican. This is traditional goodness. Just pick something--you won't be disappointed! They've got some of the most fun dishes I've experienced in Austin. The cocktails are wonderful as well! Excellent selection of tequilas and mescals. I'm a vegetarian, and the chef went out of his way to make me a special nopales torta (cactus). Typically cactus is slimy like okra, but this place knows how to cook it fantastic! They also had huitlacoche (corn smut) which was the most delicious I've ever had. Their general manager took really great care of us. It was such a great, unique experience (one that's hard to find these days), I cannot wait to go back!

Amazing place with authentic Mexican food. Stephanie the server is amazing. My friend and I enjoyed our lunch here. Would come back for dinner. This place is highly recommended to food lovers :)

This is our first time at Chapulín. I am always on the lookout for new restaurants in Austin and this is one I had not visited. It is a Oaxcan inspired interior Mexico restaurant. Between the grasshopper (chapulínes) inspired dishes and the 4 different types of mole and the seafood options we were transformed in to instant fans. We had the mole sampler app, the tuna and scallop aqua chile and the queso flameado with chorizo, huitlacoche (corn smut) and thin slices of poblano peppers. Absolutely delicious and not at all Tex Mex. For dessert the churros and thick, dense chocolate dip were the perfect end to an Austin trip down to Oaxaca, Mexico without leaving towns we highly recommend!

Family friendly, it is more than a cantina! Chapulín Cantina food was excellent & fresh. My favorite salsa was the green which is served with tortilla chips. I enjoyed the ceviche cenizo con tostadas (2). Pescado frito tacos, puerco en salsa verde & sides of rice.

We got lucky popping in here. Queso was ridiculous. Chile Releno was also awesome. Very cool vibe, cool design, perfect background music. Only minor complaint is that they could use a fly trap.

Not just another place to get enchiladas! I had the memelas and quesadillas as happy hour snacks, both great. Laid back atmosphere, interesting decor, and great menu.
