If I could give 6 stars, I would without question. Words cannot express how excited my boyfriend and I were when we found this place. Every tiny detail of this place is INCREDIBLE. Not very often do you find a bar like this!! We live 4 hours away and will be planning future trips JUST for Planet of the Tapes. Locals can rent movies from their extensive library of DVD's or come to kick back and watch a movie, catch a comedy show or play some trivia. The staff was wonderful. So friendly and welcoming. Table service makes for a relaxing experience. And their themed drinks are spot on. This place is truly heaven on earth.

Visited Planet of the Tapes while I was visiting Louisville and was not disappointed! The team working the place was all very nice, the show was hilarious, and everything was reasonably priced. Always love finding hidden gems like this when I visit a city.

The venue is small enough so no seats have a bad view. They have beer on tap, snacks and a full bar. Prices are reasonable. They have a unique way to order so you don't need to flag down a server. Most important though they always have good entertainment. This is our favorite place to see a comedy show in Louisville.

Planet of the Tapes is a real gem in Louisville. With a host of great events, shows, and entertainers regularly on their docket, Planet of the Tapes always has something good going on. From their tongue in cheek cocktail menu(s) to the vintage aesthetic filled to the brim with VHS tapes, you really won’t find anything else quite like it around the city. This is the kind of “weird” that I think a lot of people refer to when they say “Keep Louisville Weird,” and I’d have to agree. Keep it up PotT

Great place! Went there 4-9-23 and they were having an Ash Vs. Evil dead movie marathon with popcorn provided. There was also food provided by Fright Bites and trivia with an Easter egg hunt. Everyone I encountered was friendly from the patrons to staff. Will be back.

Great venue for trivia. Also other eclectic stage related events like stand up. If your an 80s or 90s kid, you'll love the decor. Never had a bad cocktail w a great regional beer selection.

One of a kind atmosphere and experience. It’s like being in a film while going to a theater. Drinks are well priced and staff are welcoming and fun. I also enjoyed the late night cup of noodles.

Fantastic find - we had a great time at the comedy show. We loved the lunch box charcuterie and the lightning fast bar service during the show.

This has to be the coolest, most unique bar/venue in Louisville. The original cocktails are delicious and very reasonable priced. It's very obvious that they are doing everything they can to ensure the safety of their patrons. Masks are required, tables are spaced out and there's no ordering at the bar, so there's no crowding. Also, you can rent DVD's! I can't wait to see a comedy show here!

I got recommended this place by a friend when visiting Louisville and I'm glad I popped in. I saw a hilarious comic from NYC do some really good stand up and some truly excellent crowd work (not just calling on people randomly) and win the crowd over with her bawdy jokes. The location is a little sketch at first but it's worth visiting as the venue itself is clean, drinks are affordable and staff is super nice. A truly unique gem that I would visit all the time if I lived nearby.

Amazing venue bringing in A talent comedians from all over the nation. Locally owned by lifetime Louivillian that cares about developing local art and artists and provides a unique versatile space that excels in creating an attractive itinerary throughout the week to keep people stimulated and wanting to make this place their 2nd home. They also have trivia nights and multiple sketch shows and an inventive cocktail collection keeping with the over all movie theme. It's like all the nostalgia from Wild and Wooly video add liquor and a stage, well, you've got yourself your own dream spot. I think even David Byrne himself would consider this his own piece of Heaven. This is my experience, I hope you make beautiful mems for yourself as well.

Fun movie night with GoreClub! Suggest getting the Lavanders Game drink 🍸 great atmosphere and service. Parking is plenty as well. Great date night spot for drinks and group movie watching (on goreclub nights).

Loved this place. Unique and nostalgic. There were many nice touches and surprises. For example the menus are former DVD cases. Great drinks with fun names. They don't serve food. They have snacks for ordering. Besides popcorn I can't recall anything else. It sounds like they have different themed nights. We came on trivia night (Tuesday). It was television trivia and it was no joke. We didn't win but still had a good time. Oh and they also have malort for the people from Chicago that like to drink sweet bug spray.

I’m not one to leave reviews often, but I visited one of my favorite places I’ve ever entered today. Great service and welcoming patrons led to enhancing the b-movie zombie flick The Dead next door playing. Every time I visit Louisville I’ll be coming here no questions asked!

Of all tapes-based astronomical objects, Planet of the Tapes is by far the best. Meteor of the Tapes? Bleh. Comet of the Tapes? Don't get me started. Oort Cloud of the Tapes? Bush League. For me, it's only PLANET of the Tapes.

This place is a gem. Their Mangolorian is my favorite cocktail--anywhere. The decorations are clever. The owner is awesome. Great place to enjoy a comedy show or just hang out.

Great venue, use to be a democratic campaign office. Now they serve some of the best drinks in town while listening to good hometown comedians. Not far from downtown on the way to Bardstown road. Great for tourist looking for something to do. @thejazzycomedyshow

Fantastic place to catch comedy shows, movies, music video release parties, and probably more, but that's all *I've* been to there. The owners are wonderfully supportive of local talent, while also bringing in performers from out of state. Possibly a bit confusing to get to the first time, but absolutely worth it.

I have been to planet of the tapes several times. It’s a very small comedy club but enjoyed the shows every time. Great drinks and snacks. The comedians have been top notch. Great prices. Plan on going more often

This has become my new favorite bar/venue. The atmosphere here is genuinely amazing. I've been here for both movie nights and comedy shows and it's always something fresh. I was blown away by the 2 people that did a live re score of a film. The drinks are some of the best I've ever had. You can tell the bartenders/mixologists have thought out the drinks and really do a good job with the consistency. Can't say enough about how much I love this place.

One of my favorite bars in Louisville. I love the space. I love that they take COVID seriously. I love the drink specials and the SECRET MENU. I love that it's accessible so my friends who are wheelchair-users don't have any issues with this place. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Such an awesome place! I've seen a dozen of really good comedy shows at Planet of the Tapes. I love the decor and the unique table service. Visit this place as soon as you can.

Had an amazing time. All four comedians were funny. They have a giant projector screen showing videos (animal planet style in our case) before the show to keep you entertained while you sip neat cocktails from the bar. All the staff had smiling faces and friendly personalities. Even purchased some used DVD's from their "video rental" shop after the show. This place is a real hidden gem for a night out with friends!

This place is very cool. Nice smaller venue so everyone has a good seat. The way you buy drinks or snacks is very well thought out. Drink prices very reasonable. Awesome table service. Definitely check this place out. You will be happy you did.

One of my favorite places in Louisville. Great comedy, movie trivia, karaoke, physical movie rentals (woah), delicious and creative cocktails, what more could you ask?! Try to find the secret menu when you go!
