Found this place through social media and had to check it out. It was walk ins only. Awesome place and great drinks. On the menu next to the drink name is skulls, more skulls indicates how strong the drink is. While we were there the place reminded us of the Tacoma Cabana that closed. So we asked staff and sure enough same owner.

From our very first time here we were met with such hospitality - even Jason taking us upstairs and accommodating our party on a busy night. He gave us the best first experience here and even let us browse one of his personal cocktail books (that we’ve since purchased and he signed it!). Since then, we’ve come back many times and each visit to Devil’s Reef has blown us away with the delicious drinks and tasty food. Jason & his crew are sure to make every visit feel special and a place you want to take everyone who comes into town! We’re sure to spend many, many more nights here.

The cocktails are very good, though it's hard to differentiate between some of them, and the menu is often unhelpful in this regard. I love the theme of the place, but it is really only expressed in the drink names? Great atmosphere. The staff were all very helpful and friendly, will definitely return in the future!

Favorite tiki bar in Washington state. ZOEY AND JASON were super helpful and amazing. Service and drinks are phenomenal. Too many drinks to pick from. One day is not enough, so we will go back tomorrow for more drinks. This is what I call a real tiki bar, they got the decor and drinks!

I had been looking forward to visiting this tiki bar for years and was pretty disappointed with my experience. The space is beautiful, the drink list is extensive, and what we ordered was well made. My disappointment began with the host who offered a table upstairs to watch the “sh!t show”, as he put it. (Thanks?) I also understand in COVID-times that menus and table service aren’t always guaranteed, but for a tiki bar, ordering at the bar felt so weird. Once our drinks were delivered I was surprised to see they were just liquids and crushed ice in a glass. No sprig of mint. No pineapple leaf or umbrella. Nothing. Bummer. And, not the establishments fault on my final let-down, but the table next to us kept watching videos at full volume on their phones. What the!?

This is a great place for a different atmosphere for a fun night. Out with your friends and even some family members for the vibe. I wouldn’t say first date vibes because it quite dark inside and can be a bit loud when at full capacity. Make reservations for sure. But if you want a date night with a partner and you don’t mind being in a dark environment like that then go for date night. The drinks are mostly rum (specialty drinks), however they do have a small selection of other alcoholic beverages and can make something you will enjoy. Check out this place for amazing environment with a fun pirate theme vibe that’s sure to get the conversation going.

The ambiance is amazing. The drinks are stiff and clever with some really good, unique flavors. There is also a sophisticated dog keeping an eye on things.

As tiki bars go, this is a good one! Great tiki atmosphere, with a bit of oriental flare. Lots of unique seating options and a good drink menu.

Fabulous tavern that whisks you to another time and place. The staff is very knowledgeable about rum and will create amazing concoctions that you likely won't experience anywhere else.

Interesting cool little bar. I'm not a rum drinker and there wasn't much for beer options, so I didn't get a drink. The staff was AMAZING, and the decor was fun. That alone gave it 4 stars even if my drink wasn't good.

Me and my girls have been to every bar in Tacoma and we LOOOOVE this one. The drinks were great but what stood out to us was the people working. The owner delivered our apps himself and kept checking up on us. We had more than one bartender who was charming and paid us great attention. LOVE ALL AROUND omg it’s my new go to

Strong drinks, little pricey. Good staffing, bartender was extremely nice and great service. Another gentleman waiter was not so much but I won't be too harsh over just one employee.

For starters, the drinks are amazing. The decor is incredibly fun and perfect for a first date. But above all the service is incredible. I’ve been several times and the owner takes special care of each and every customer, frequently going out of his way to make sure folks have a good time. I recently came in on the weekend and planned to meet my group of friends out and it wasn’t until I was seated that I realized they were at another bar. Not only was Jason entirely accommodating but he was also so gracious and kind after my mistake (which wasn’t a small one on a weekend night at one of the most popular cocktail lounges in the city.) A huge thank you to he and his staff for always taking good care of me and my people and for their kindness amidst my absolute embarrassment. I look forward to coming in soon and getting literally anything with a triple skull because this menu is truly *chefs kiss*.

I went to Devil’s Reef for the first time with my brother last night. Excellent service, incredible cocktail selection (40 signature cocktails are listed on their menu), and very tasty drinks. Shoutout to the bartender, Zoe - she’s professional, fun, fast, and talented. Will 100% be going again and will bring friends!

Weird. First, you are sat at a table but you have to order at the bar. Drinks tasted good but way too much ice and super expensive. Food was ok and very slow.

This fantastically decorated bar specializes exclusively in rum cocktails that are thoughtfully and carefully crafted tiki style drinks. The owner takes the time to make syrups, bitters, tinctures, and the like, all with an eye to producing a consistent and balanced drink. The staff is wonderful and knowledgeable, let them guide you in your drink selection, you won’t be disappointed! The food is consistently delicious with vegetarian options. The place is often packed so be sure to come early or wait… it is worth the wait!

This place is awesome. The owner here is the best as well, of course the staff are just as amazing. Can't forget them! I got the nachos with pork and oh man. It was a lot bigger than I thought it was gonna be.

First time here. It was delicious. Run based cocktails were tasty and boozy. I ordered the nachos for food. More cheese then chips and it was great. Come here if you want to get tipsy off of one drink in casually themed darkness.

Super cool vibe! This place has an amazing, unforgettable aesthetic. Their drink menu is huge and the descriptions are fun to read. I had a tofu poke bowl and it was honestly the BEST poke bowl I've ever had in my life! I'll definitely be back!

There is very few places I'd give 5 stars in every category. This place can be expensive (depending your tolerance) but it's food, atmosphere, and ESPECIALLY cocktails cannot be beat by any bar I have ever tried. Dare i say the best choice in my opinion in the entire west coast. You get your moneys worth here, and the employees and owner are all fantastic people.

Just decided to walk in to what looked like a little bar while waiting for a reservation across the street and to our surprise it was the Devil's Reef. This place has has super eclectic speakeasy feel. There is absolutely no sign outside telling you it there. I love the dark moody feel once you walk inside. The drink I had was amazing. I asked for something made with pineapple and that's what arrived a pineapple rum drink.
