It was a mind blowing experience @ Shilpgram……. it is a government initiative to preserve and promote the traditional art, craft and handicrafts…along with supporting the artisans who create them…. the place is designed like a small traditional village and named as ‘Shilpgram’, which means ‘village of artisans’….. The village has mud and bamboo huts…. each representing the distinct style, culture and history of different Indian states…. the pathways are made of mud and stone…. stone sculptures created by National and International eminent Sculptors, are placed to enhance the beauty of this charming village….. visitors can enjoy the folk songs, traditional dances, puppet shows and even an open-air theatre, showcasing the rich heritage of Rajasthan…. The entry is affordable at Rs.60/- per person, and it is open daily….. a Haat Bazaar operates every afternoon… offering a variety of traditional handicrafts like Suits, Sarees, Dupattas, Bed Sheets, Clay Pots, Wooden Gift items, Rajasthani Souvenirs, Magnets and much more…. the best thing is that all these items are available at reasonable prices…….. an annual fair is conducted in the last 10 days of December… that is the best time to visit this place… offering even more shopping options and activities…. Shilpgram also has neat and clean toilets… there are also snack shops and restaurants especially serving local food……. visitors can also enjoy camel rides around the village….. For urban residents, Shilpgram provides a unique and enjoyable rural experience…. this place is a mixture of tradition and creativity…. Mobile photography is free… and the artisans and shopkeepers are warm and friendly…. Shilpgram is truly a must-visit destination… offering something different and memorable for everyone….

Its a place for tribal people to showcase their arts. Its a very good initiative from government to give these people a platform. You can roam around to see the things and some arts. If you want you can buy. People will be persuasive while selling so buy only if you need it.

A must place for art lovers. You can see & buy the handicrafts. The artisans demonstrate their skills. There is an open air amphitheater where the artists perform which includes folk dances, folk music, Kathputli (string puppet) show. This 70 acre land also displays several huts constructed with the occupational theme like weavers community, farmer community, pottery community etc.

An experience in itself, Shilpgram is a highly recommended spot in Udaipur(unless you're on a very tight schedule) It's de signed to give you the experience of a village while also offering genuine artwork by artisans in the markets inside. Multiple unique photo spots and a walk through the different types of hut designs representing Rajasthan, Gujrat, Goa and Maharashtra. The only concern I had here was the lack of transport and the struggle to find a taxi/auto back to the lake side. Make some arrangements before you visit.

Shilpgram is truly the best event of the year and an unmissable cultural extravaganza! Visiting this rural arts and crafts complex in December was an unforgettable experience. The cultural programs were nothing short of spectacular, showcasing the rich heritage, traditional dances, and music from various parts of India. The vibrant atmosphere, with artists and craftsmen displaying their talent, added a unique charm to the event. This trip was one of the most memorable ones I’ve ever had. From the beautiful handicrafts to the delicious local food, every moment spent here was magical. If you’re in Udaipur in December, Shilpgram is a must-visit destination to immerse yourself in the colors, traditions, and artistic excellence of India. It’s an experience that stays with you forever!

It's ticket cost around 60 rupees per head. You will be able to see a round of traditional art performance and houses inside. There is also shops of pottery, clothes and jewellery. There is also a restaurant. The traditional houses are also there. It's in a remote place. It will take around 2 - 3 hours for taking a tour in this place. Shilpgram is a renowned rural arts and crafts center dedicated to preserving India's folk and tribal culture. As an artisan village Udaipur, it showcases traditional architecture, handcrafted items, and age-old customs from various regions of India. Shilpgram is worth visiting for those interested in Indian arts, crafts, and culture, as it offers a chance to see traditional architecture and purchase authentic handicrafts. It's ideal for people who enjoy exploring local markets, experiencing folk performances, and are looking for a cultural experience outside of the palaces and lakes of Udaipur.

Shilpgram has a lot to offer at one place. They have meticulously made as an amalgamation of both showcasing Rajasthani traditions and empowering the local artisans. It easily takes 1-2 hours to fully experience what it offers. There is a restaurant, open air theatre, multiple exhibits, museum and outlets to explore. In an hour spend, I could witness the performance of three different talent groups all at one place. One of the best place to spend time during Udaipur City trip.

This is one of the most cultural things we did in Udaipur. It’s a village of craftsman and artisans. There are a lot of handmade shops for clothing, show pieces which describe Rajasthan art, clay pots etc. we also saw multiple performances like puppet show, musical instruments etc. there’s also a tribal and a clay museum. The entry is also not very expensive. There’s a lot of walk inside the village so you can spend at least 2 hours here. There’s also an amphitheater but it doesn’t seem to be functional. There are a lot of huts as well. It could be maintained better though. It could get somewhat hot during afternoon so be prepared for that. There’s also a food court inside.

Shilpgram is a pleasant, quiet place to spend an afternoon, offering a peaceful break from the main tourist crowds. The village is spread out, with various traditional houses to explore. While the overall upkeep could be improved in some areas, the rustic setting and the occasional cultural performance make it a nice visit. It's best combined with a trip to the nearby Fateh Sagar Lake or Monsoon Palace

Good for visiting once. Go if fond of long walks and street shopping. Also you will enter from one gate and exit from other gate which are at distance of approx 700 meters so have to walk again to the gate if vehicle is parked around the gate from which you have entered. Good to choose this place if you have done visiting everything snd around in udaipur.

Definitely a must-visit spot because it beautifully captures the essence of Udaipur’s culture. But just a heads-up—you’ll come across a few people selling sarees, shawls, and traditional dresses who’ll try to draw you in with personal stories and emotional pitches. They can take up a lot of your time (exactly what happened to us), which means you might miss out on clicking more photos or watching all the folk performances. If you do visit, make sure to explore everything else first—especially the cultural show. Give the sellers your time only afterwards. They’re not really there to welcome you; their main goal is to sell something. Don’t fall into that trap. Prioritize the performances, because after 7 PM the dances are over, but the fabrics will still be there.

I loved it..There were many awesome folk dances performed by artists from different regions. Dancers representing Maharshtra folk dance didn't show the real folk dance (lavni) instead they were just throwing hands randomly. I wish they could have represented Maharashtra Lavni Dance more properly just like other region dancers showed. We also did shopping there which was a good experience compared to the rates at Udaipur City shops. Also got what we needed. I will definitely recommend getting clothes from Shilpgram Village shops instead of getting it from the city. We hired a guide, hence it took us 2 hrs to explore and shop. If we didn't have hired a guide it would have just taken us 1/2 hr to explore. But personally I feel good to hire one.

Shilpgram- Located a bit far from Udaipur's main attractions, Shilpgram is a unique spot that recreates a traditional village showcasing various Indian cultures. This tranquil oasis offers: - A showcase of diverse cultural heritage - Numerous art and craft shops (though pricey) - Regular cultural programs - Camel rides - Snacks (on the expensive side) During our visit, the grounds were peaceful and uncrowded. Whether or not to visit depends on your interests and willingness to cover travel costs and the ₹60 entry fee. If you're fascinated by art, culture, and tradition, Shilpgram is definitely worth considering.

Shilpgram is a vibrant rural arts and crafts complex that beautifully showcases the culture, traditions, and craftsmanship of Rajasthan and neighboring states. Spread across a scenic area near Fateh Sagar Lake, it feels like a walk through traditional village life. The handcrafted items—pottery, textiles, paintings, jewelry, and wooden artifacts—are authentic and reasonably priced. Live folk music and dance performances add to the charm, making the visit lively and engaging. The huts and structures reflect regional architecture and give a strong cultural insight. It’s a great place to shop for souvenirs, enjoy local snacks, and experience Rajasthan beyond palaces and lakes. The annual Shilpgram Festival is especially worth attending. Overall: A must-visit for culture lovers, families, and anyone interested in traditional Indian arts.

Shilpgram in Udaipur is a must-visit for those interested in traditional Rajasthani art, culture, and handicrafts. This rural arts and crafts complex offers an immersive experience with live folk performances, artisan workshops, and handcrafted souvenirs. The atmosphere is vibrant, especially during the Shilpgram Festival, which showcases diverse cultural heritage from across India. It's an excellent place to explore rustic village life, interact with skilled craftsmen, and buy authentic handmade goods. However, visiting in the winter months is recommended, as the summer heat can be intense. Overall, a great cultural retreat near Udaipur!

Its a beautiful place and so much greenery around. Cute handamde stuff for home decor available at very affordable price. Wonderful folk dance and music is there , rich culture govt is trying to maintain that is impressive to see. As per the vendors there from oct to march is best visiting time as maximum crowd comes then and this makes it more accessible to huts and more cultural program. During monsoon many huts and houses were shut down. Nailrat artist Satyanarayanji has made a wonderful nailart on my hand and also presented us a memorable postcard he drew for us for free. A memorable day for us
