I was amazed with the buddha itself. It was so enormous. I can't imagine how they built that. We also got the chance to enter what is inside the statue. We saw lots if golden buddha displayed according to clan. They really preserved it. I also enjoy the coy fishes in the mini pond beside the Daibutsu. You can actually feed them. It was so fun

The path shown by Google is not correct. The bus will drop you near the cemetery and you can walk from there. Search for the tourist information center. That is the entrance to the place. As of now just the statue to visit and the monkey show. Also, while it may be unfair to compare but if you have seen the Statue of Unity in India and are budget concious you can give it a pass, else a good day outing trip from Tokyo. Wait at bus stop two for the bus to the venue from the metro station. Also the place by default is not accessible they expect you to climb up and down a few flight of stairs.

My family and I visit Ushiku Daibutsu, One of the three largest Buddha statues in the world. There is plenty of parking lots available. We walk through shopping stores, buy tickets and walk inside and high up the statue. We really enjoy exhibitions on the first and second levels. We take elevator to the observation floor. We check out surrounding sceneries. They said, on clear weather, we can see as far as Mt. Fuji and Tokyo Skytree, of course not today.

One of the most beautiful places I have been in Japan. The tallest Buddha which is of 121m tall and it’s also in the Guiness world records. Very calm place which has a beautiful Japanese garden with a small pond with many ducks. If we purchase a 800yen ticket, we get to see the entire place. Especially inside the Buddha statue there will be 4 floors where there is an observatory deck too. One needs to check the frequency of buses from Ushiku station if you are taking public transportation.

The Ushiku Daibutsu is the world's largest 120 meter bronze Buddha statue. The statue is surrounded by a flower garden and you can go to the top floor when enter and use the elevator. In the garden patio there is also a monkey stage and show that you can watch for free after you finish your time exploring the statue. This was a really cool experience and I recommend you visit, it costs ¥800 for adults to enter.

Very peaceful and nice, recommend to buy tickets (additional 300¥ ) to go inside the statue where you can go up till the heart region of the Buddha statue through elevator (5th floor) but you can board it from second floor. To come down you need to walk down steps till 4th floor. It was crazy hot on the Saturday afternoon outside but inside was having cooling. One lady had heatstroke so car plenty of water and UV/Sun blocking umbrellas. There are a lot of souvenir shops inside and a room full of small Buddha statues and one meditation room. The koi fish pond and gardens around the statue is so peaceful and well kept. We had a blissful time apart from the scorching heat.

Definitely worth visiting and a really good experience if you have time in Ibaraki! It was only about 500¥ or so for entry and ride up inside the Buddha. Very friendly staff and easy to navigate around the huge park. There was also a section where you could feed koi fish and ducks. As well as a place to watch an animal show and petting zoo. There were food and drink options along with gift shops at the main entrance of the park. Inside of the Buddha consisted of a multi level and highly clean/ detailed museum.

Huge Standing Buddha Statue. 120m tall, the tallest in the world. You can also visit the inside however the nicest part is the outside area (park included). If you are in the area I suggest you to stop by, you won’t be disappointed.

Highly underrated spot. The pictures really don’t do it justice. It’s over double the height of New York’s Statue of Liberty. It’s a truly massive and remarkable sight to behold. Additionally, behind the statue is a free petting zoo where you can play with rabbits and other animals.

6th tallest statue in the world. Really cool to see in person. Recommend driving - it's free parking and there is a premium outlet a few minutes away for something extra to do in the area.

Very cool buddha. It's worth the trip! He is huge and you can go inside and about half way up in an elevator. Make sure it's included when you buy your ticket though. They have some nice flowers around the pond depending on the time of year. The big pond however needs some fish or something...it's nothing special. They also have picnic tables, to enjoy food while looking at buddha. A few shops are located at the entrance with souvineirs and sweets.

The Buddha statue with a height of 120 meters is very amazing with beautiful views around it. And I also went inside and went up to the 5th floor. Inside there are also lots of Buddha statues on the walls. From the 5th floor you can see the surroundings from above. Maybe if it comes in spring there will be lots of cherry blossoms there

The 120m tall statue is amazing. there is also beautiful garden nearby. I visited in a rainy day in autumn. So the cherry blossom tree is not in season. But once it is cherry blossom season, this place will be beautiful.

This Majestic statue has an elevator that brings visitors up 85 m (279 ft) to an observation floor . Visitors can even view Mt Fuji from this observatory platform if the weather is clear. As you follow the path leading to Uchiko Daitbutsu, you will also be attracted by the seasonal bloom, and this summer, we are seeing some lavender blooming along with other species such as sunflowers & fire forest. Plan your schedule or drive to Uchiko if possible as the waiting time for the public transport can be quite long. Tickets payment in cash only,

The bus was very full so I advise to get on one of the earlier ones. The buddha itself was gargantuan and imposing. You can get a temple stamp at the beginning and pick it up on your way out. Highly recommend walking around in the area in all the small shrines. They are half abandoned and in very cool places. My friend and I did a 32km walk back to Ushiku going through all the shrines.

Went to visit this massive Buddha in Ibaraki and the size was quite breathtaking . Interesting to be able to go up to the inside of the Buddha and observe outwards but sadly limited photography or window view. The place was nice but quite sparse public transport towards it , roughly one every hour. Would drive up if passing by.

120m tall Buddha is the main attraction. The buddha is very calm and one cant take eyes off from him! There is an observation desk inside buddha at 85m, some other galleries and souvenir shop. It is surrounded by beautiful Japanese style garden and offers flower beds based on the season. It also has small shopping area where you can buy local stuffs and souvenirs. Definitely a must go!

It’s my second visit to this place. The first one I came in February. The second one I came last Saturday. The place is so nice to relax and hang around. Besides going around the park, you can go inside the Buddha statue, feed the duck and fish in the pond, and watch the monkey show. There are also some souvenir shops. My favorite is the ice cream shop. The flavor is based on the season. In February they have vanilla and Ibaraki apple. This April, they have vanilla and strawberry.

120m tall, imposing and serene Buddha statue. Ample parking space and a beautiful Japanese garden to complement the timelessness of the place. The inside of the statue has interesting information about its construction and a collection of small golden Buddha statues. I was awestruck by this place, having visited Kamakura & Nokogiriyama Buddha.

Awesome place to visit with an amazing 120 m tall Buddha statue. There is a beautiful garden and park within the statue. It costs separately for visiting the park and going inside the statue. We can go inside the statue and to go to the top level there is the facility of lift so you don’t have to worry about the stairs to climb...😊😊 If you don’t have your private vehicle 🚗 then be updated about the time table of bus 🚌.

The trip to the Ushiku Buddha was worth it. The well manicured grounds were in bloom and the area was tranquil. The views from within the Buddha statue (the main temple area) were pristine. With the attraction so far away from Tokyo, there were few other visitors which added to the already peaceful vibe. For those wanting an awe inspiring location without massive crowds, the Ushiku Buddha is the place.

It’s without any doubt, one of the biggest Buddha statues in the world.i made a youtube video also about it.its very beautiful and very large one that we can see it miles away.if you can go to visit in April(when sakura season) or try go at evening before sunset.but keep it mind ,its closed after 4.30Pm.if you can go around 2pm you can go around and plus you can go inside the statue also if you didn’t knew about it.And then you can wait for sunset in the parking lot and you can take cool pictures with sunset.believe me it’s freaking awesome when sunset hit the statue.thanks me later.

The Ushiku Daibutsu is an impressive bronze statue that should definitely be on your list of must-see attractions when visiting Japan. Standing at a height of 120 meters, it is the tallest bronze statue in the world and truly a sight to behold. During our visit in 2018, we were able to climb to the top of the statue and the view from the top was absolutely breathtaking. You can see for miles in every direction and the panoramic view of the surrounding countryside is simply stunning. The statue itself is beautifully crafted and the attention to detail is amazing. The peaceful and serene atmosphere around the statue makes it an ideal place to relax and reflect. Overall, the Ushiku Daibutsu is a must-visit destination for anyone traveling to Japan. Whether you're a history buff, a nature lover, or simply looking for a unique and unforgettable experience, this attraction is definitely worth checking out.

One of the biggest Buddha statues in Japan... To get inside the Buddha statue, you need to pay ¥ 900/person, and the staff will ask you not to take any photos and videos of the entrance area... But if you don't like to pay anything, you can still enjoy the park outside of the Buddha statue and roam around the souvenir stores at the gate...

This was a very relaxing place for a day trip. There was a huge parking lot so it was okay for road trips. The park was huge with lots of different sections - flowers, lakes, arts etc. The Buddha itself was a museum/ temple. There were lots of exhibitions inside - it could take hours to watch everything.

  • 5/5 Rachel B. 11 months ago on Google
This is the largest bronze Buddha statue in the world. While you can see the Daibutsu from the parking lot, in order to see it head on and get close to it, you’ll need to purchase an entrance ticket. You can choose a ticket just for the grounds, or to go inside the Daibutsu. Depending on the time of year you visit, it seems like it can take a few hours to get to the museums and temple inside. During Golden Week, the line waiting to get inside was well over an hour long. One of the goshuin is only available from the 2nd floor of the Daibutsu. The seasonal flowers planted across the park were beautiful and made for great photo opportunities. I imagine when it's less crowded this would be a very peaceful place to come and relax. However, it is important to be respectful of the space. The park has signs and warnings about picnicking and camping out with food since this is a holy pilgrimage spot.

Ushiku Daibutsu (牛久大仏) is a statue located in Ushiku, Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan. Completed in 1993, it stands a total of 120 metres (390 ft) tall, including the 10 m (33 ft) base and 10m lotus platform. The statue held the record for the tallest statue from 1993–2008. As of 2018, it is one of the top five tallest statues in the world. It was the world's tallest statue until 30 October 2018 when a statue in India exceeded Ushiku Daibutsu. An elevator takes visitors up 85 m (279 ft) to an observation floor. The statue depicts Amitabha Buddha and is made of bronze. It is also known as Ushiku ARCADIA (Amida's Radiance and Compassion Actually Developing and Illuminating Area). It was built to commemorate the birth of Shinran, founder of the Jōdo Shinshū 浄土真宗 or "True Pure Land School" of Buddhism.
