Having travelled in Peru and Bolovia for the last two weeks, we found this Japanese restaurant in the "small" town of Uyuni. Usually I will manage my expectation especially when I saw the food was cooked by local. We ordered the beef and the pork, both came with miso soup and rice. The taste was unexpectedly good and deserves a thumb up!

Despite the lack of restaurant options currently available in the city, Hotaru Uyuni stands out as a dinner location worthy of a visit. With tasty Japanese-inspired food and friendly service, the restaurant boasts a unique niche in food choice and quality in Uyuni. All Japanese dishes come in at 45 Bolivianos, and the quantity and quality of food are both very agreeable. The atmosphere of the restaurant could use some improvement, but the food makes this location absolutely worth visiting.

Hotaru is an amazing restaurant in Uyuni! I went there 4 times while I was in Uyuni. The food is super fresh and hot, and karaage, yakisoba and miso soup tasted real Japanese food!! I also liked Korean Ramen!

At the time of writing, Uyuni is clearly still suffering from the lack of tourism after the pandemic. The little good restaurants that Uyuni had, are often closed. This one isn't though. Don't be scared off by the basic interior, loud music or inattentive host, and you will be rewarded with great food. The noodles were delicious, and the accompanying miso soup tasted just like in Japan. We were delighted to have found this little pearl and we can definitely recommend it.

It’s very nice that there is a Japanese restaurant in Uyuni! The restaurant is very nice and comfortable, food is great, and the owner is super friendly! I really enjoyed having dinner here almost everyday while I was in Uyuni!

Breakfast for 35 was unfortunately disappointing. The coffee resembled more of tea, the scrambled eggs were cold, and the croissant was both cold and hard. Unfortunately, there isn't a wide selection in town.

The worst dining experience for me ever. If you are hungry, don’t go there. Every customer needs to wait at least 30 minutes to get their food ready. The lady’s atitude is the worst! She doesn’t have any patience and rolled her eyes multiple times on us. We finally decided to leave without ordering because we cannot tolerate the service like this.

Arrived and the door is opened No one explain whether they are already opened or not I have waited for 15 minutes 3 Staff (I believed they are )just ignore me and go At least just tell me whether they are open or not but just treat me like an invisible man Originally wanted to try as the review seems good but ya that’s it for me

Fantastic Asian food in Uyuni! The restaurant is nice with a heater and they kindly made one of their Asian noodle meals without meat, and they also have another vegetarian section of the menu. Super delicious.

Soup noodle was nice for a cold weather in Uyuni. However, the noodle is essentially instant noodles, and charges 45 BOB, a bit much for instant noodle, otherwise if want something warm noodle soup and an egg, this place is good.

Really tasty Japanese food in Uyuni. I am vegetarian, and they were also more than willing to accommodate their menu to suit me! Although heads up! They have changed recently to be a bar/Japanese place, and their Japanese menu is not always available! We went a few days ago and were told the chef was not there and that they would have Japanese tomorrow. So be sure to maybe contact ahead of time to make sure you’re getting the menu you’re looking for! Super friendly staff. Kind of a grungy vibe with super loud music, but if you get past that, the food really makes up for it.

😠 Be aware that the coffee & tea included in the 35 boliviano breakfast combo are cheap instant ones. Had a brewed coffee as well which was super watery. A total rip off.

👍👍 Best pizza/ restraunt spot in town for sure. Prices are definitely not cheap but the quality of food is top notch. Pizzas come in two sizes small or large, there are pastas, and other homemade breads. Two beers on tap, and a refrigerador full of cold drinks. The owner knows what he is doing, how to...

🫤 Takeaway Spaghetti Pomodoro was basically just spaghetti. Unfortunately I didn’t open this until I got back to my hotel otherwise I would have given straight back and asked for a refund.
