One of the best places to stay in Lyon. The staff was super helpful, professional and kind during the check in. They also spoke fluent English. Rooms were clean, with comfortable beds and a very clean bathroom. There is a hairdryer, shampoo and body wash, also towels and a tv. Each bed is equipped with personal lights and charging stations. There was no tooth paste or any hair conditioner. The hotel is 10-15 minutes walk from Perrache station and there are plenty of bars around. It felt like a safe district. As a group of 4, we stayed in a shared room with a double bed and 2 bunk beds. We believe it is especially suitable for families with 2 kids. The breakfast is 11.90 euro per person but we didn't try it.

This was for us an amazing experience. The staff is amazing and incredibly helpful. From the first to the last thing, we had a pleasant stay in your hotel. I want to personally mention Lara, Myriam, Erica and Gabriela who did amazing job hosting us, they gave us amazing tips on what to do and what to see in Lyon and made our trip three times better. Thank you so much for everything and keep doing what you’re doing. Would recommend 10 out of 10. 😊

Located at the heart of Lyon it is the perfect spot if you wish to discover the city by day or night. Welcoming and friendly staff and clean rooms make it easy to recommend the hotel. Parking is available but costs 15€ euros per night which is cheaper than most other parking lots but something you need to consider. One thing I personally hated however was the fact that you must not open your windows.

We had a great stay! The room was very comfortable, and the staff was very attentive and nice! I asked them to please not tell my sister that a third person was going to stay with us because it was a birthday surprise for her, and they not only payed attention to what I asked, but they also went above and beyond and left a birthday message with some treats in our room :)

Clean, vibrant & conveniently located. Spacious room, safe with keycard lifts and rooms. Spotlessly clean. Ample charging points near bed. Would recommend staying here & would stay again. If driving, its worth noting that the underground car park was extremely tight for space & may be better parking elsewhere.

Loved this place. Nice touches like the communal kitchen. Clean and surrounded by great restaurants and a super coffee shop/roastery. I'd come back to this or any other Meininger hotels

The receptionists and bartenders are very helpful and polite, we like the style of the hotel and we've been before in Berlin. With the guest kitchen is giving you the flexibility to prepare your own meal. We will stay again!

I'd stayed at the Meininger in Berlin, so had an idea what to expect. However, we were still pleasantly surprised. When plans changed and we had to check in after midnight, this was no problem. Reception staff responded quickly and accurately to messages. The room was great for a family of four Our only problem came when my son became allergic in the room. We suspect that perhaps a pet had been in previously. A change of bedding and a floor wash fixed this Overall, everything worked!

Rooms are clean, beds are comfortable, big bathroom (we were 3 people in a room). Friendly staff, cool place. Location is not the best, about 40min walk to the popular area where all the restaurants etc. are. But would still recommend!

The location of the place is excellent, and the room itself is quite spacious, providing ample space to move around comfortably. The soundproofing is also noteworthy, as it effectively keeps the noise from outside to a minimum, ensuring a peaceful stay. However, I was slightly disappointed with the breakfast experience. While I had high expectations, the variety and quality of the offerings fell short, particularly in regards to the hot drinks. The selection and taste of the beverages did not meet my expectations. Despite this, the overall experience at the accommodation was pleasant, thanks to its convenient location and well-designed, spacious rooms with good soundproofing.

Clean room and bathroom but no no glass in the bathroom to drink water and no tea and coffee facilities which would have been appreciated. Brilliant breakfast and helpful and polite staff with a large, if tight parking. My only big negative is that there were about 100 students so difficult to have a drink in the bar and I had to wait 20 minutes to get into breakfast in the morning.

This is our third stay at the Lyon Hotel Menninger. We find it to be a good value relative to its cost, especially for a one-night stay while traveling from Germany to Spain and back again. The room has been clean each time. The employees have all been efficient, helpful, and friendly. You can pay extra to have a garage space for safe overnight parking, or to include your breakfast.

Stayed for two nights in Lyon, with three children, a dog, and a husband in a six-bed room. We used the guest kitchen every day, and found it extremely useful. The reception staff were friendly and efficient, and the premises were very clean. An extremely good experience.

Modern rooms with a lot of space for 6 persons. Toilet and shower were separated what I quite liked actually. Breakfast was sort of okay, I think the sweet stuff was better. The rooms were relatively quite, but you should have in mind that there could be school classes coming for a stay, meaning the noice level goes up. Friendly staff. It's in the city and you can walk with a bit of time to the most important sight seeing things.

Amazing hotel, nice. clean and funky rooms. Stayed there for a night but loved it. the whole hotel is very colorful and have all the facilities. bedside usb ports, electric shutters to block the sunlight in the room for sunny days. Breakfast was amazing, loads of choices. Location was good as well and you can find plenty of food places around. Overall a very satisfied customer.

Have stayed at other Meiningers before and Lyon delivered as expected: clean, colourful rooms, friendly staff and everything so much nicer than a beige hotel. Location is convenient for sightseeing with many good restaurants nearby. Highly recommend.

We had a nice family room for two nights. The rooms have adequate size, a good bathroom and are very clean. The best are the friendly people working there, who did everything to make our stay as good as possible.

Incredible hostel. There’s not enough stars to give them. We stayed with them a week ago for one night in a private room which was very affordable and very comfortable as well as extremely clean. I’m a bit of a hygiene person, and the shower was genuinely spotless I was surprised. The value for what you get was incredible. Then, we came back after a week with a bit of a tight situation, having a transfer in the middle of the night and thus having to wait for a couple of hours. When arriving there they kindly offered us to stay in the bar to wait for a bit and even gave us coffee. Truly, the kindness was incredible. Thank you!!

The best travel hotel in Europe. This hotel is for travellers not for tourists. Clients that appreciate good service, breakfast, washing machines and more. Personnel that understand the needs of people that want to see and experience Lyon. The best hotel, accessible, and more.

1st stay at meiningier, had lots of luggage. Thought I should call ahead but the room turned out to be plenty spacious for me to unpack. Clean facilities, fresh towels, good room lighting. I expressed that i wouldn't need housekeeping and they obliged, but the reception staff were very helpful and always at aid

The room is beautiful and very clean, and the premises are trendy. My only note is that the shower water didn't get nearly hot enough to have a short, enjoyable shower. For this reason, I probably wouldn't come back - but otherwise it was great! Excellent location.

This is a minimalistic hotel, working hard on being ‘green’, mostly addressing youngsters with it’s facilities (kitchen, washing and a locked fridge). The dorms (I have not seen) certainly bring sown prices. The staff is extremely helpful and very kind. The location is not very convenient but acceptable. You do have public transport very close. The room I stayed in was very small, each corner had its portion of dust, the light is very strong and not dimmable. The beds are OK but the head cushions are of appalling quality. Breakfast is very affordable and varied. Very convenient is the underground parking (15€/day) but be careful the spaces are not generous. Rooms are not serviced every day (the desk also tells you this); you can ask to skip the service or ask to do the room. I also like the fact you do need you hotel key to make the elevator work (security). We were there during a match of the world cup rugby. This attracted many youngsters and fans. I was very happy with the sound insulation. Our stay was very quiet. As you will have read there are many plus, but there is still some work to be done to make this hotel comfortable.

Very comfortable and convenient place to stay. With a large and fully equipped triple bedroom with enough towels. Probably the mattress could be more comfortable. The concierge staff very kind and welcoming. I will definitely be back.

I loved everything about my stay at Meininger. Affordable, clean and rooms with enough space and light. I will definitely come back!

Everything is very clean and the room is checked daily. The breakfast buffet is huge, from fresh fruit to croissants, pancakes, eggs, yogurt... In the evening you can also have a drink or something small to eat in the bar. Very useful if you have been walking all day and don't really feel like going out for dinner. There are little shops in the neighbourhood where you can buy something to eat. Public transport is also nearby.

Meininger Hotel Lyon was excellent. Very modern. Rooms were big enough. Quiet. Breakfast area and breakfast itself were fantastic. Hotel staff was extremely helpful. For me personally, it was very close to the family I was visiting. Plus, it's easy walking distance to the major activities in Lyon.

Great value for money and location. Suitable for families as well as younger and/or solo travellers. I decided to extend my stay and the friendly staff sorted this out, and I was able to keep the same room without a fuss. Would recommend

I think it is a good hostel but the single rooms are very expensive for what you get. There is no queen bed, only to single bed mattresses put side by side. The room is tiny. The whole hotel is nevertheless very clean and the staff nice.

Hotel won't lower the music anywhere to let me work! Detailed situation: I checked in for a stay of 5 days. Trying to work from here. With audio meetings. The table in the room is way too small. But all communal areas have a sound system with loud&irritating xmas music, incompatible with professional conferences. So I go and kindly ask at the front desk if they could at least lower the volume in a certain area, or if there's a suitable spot to work from. But no, I am told that they cannot lower the volume because it would affect the whole hotel, and that there is no area to work from other than the bar. It's the morning, I'm the only person there, so it would be fine. But they keep the music on ! We're in 2021; since the COVID crisis a majority of people are used to working remotely everywhere in the world, but I can't do it from this hotel. This is unthinkable.

I chose Meininger Lyon because of the convenient location. It is simple but functional, and the staff is international, friendly and helpful. The underground garage is a bit tricky for cars above 4 meters overall length. Overall an excellent offer at a fair price.

Overall very good experience at this recent hotel. Simple and functional. Everything worked well. Air-conditioning is silent. Good bedding and bathroom. Beakfast buffet could be improved.

+ : tremendous hotel, well placed (public transports & restaurants). Rooms are spacious, well-equipped bathrooms (hair dryer). A real plus if you visit Lyon with kids. - : car pitch is very tiny if you have a break car. Parking can be tricky.

Perfect place for a stay Lyon. Only a 10 minute walk away from the main shopping street. Very clean and modern, good value for money. Hotel garage for 15€ each night.

Tl;dr: everything is cheap except for the price. Everything in this hotel breathes cheapness: tiled floor in the rooms, peeling multiplex beds and everything self service and optimised to be easily wiped & cleaned. My first room was a narrow and unpleasant alleyway with a bed at the end. But the worst was the smell in this room, emanating from the bathroom which smelt of horrible plumbing problems. When I spoke about it with reception before going out for dinner, the guy promised to go have a look and see what could be done, but when I returned after my dinner all he could offer was "you weren't there when I knocked". It was only due to the proactive lady next to him who was busy with a cancellation that I could move to a different room without putrid smell. This would all be ok for a hostel where you pay €30 per night - but I paid over €100 per night, a price I have also recently paid to lodge my whole family in a four star comfortable hotel in Paris where the staff went to great lengths to be helpful. I guess Meininger is meant for boozing & puking bachelor parties who are too drunk to realise they are being ripped off. Just to be clear, staff are generally friendly and try to be helpful but the whole experience is not aligned with the price. Update after the hotel responded: when I mentioned the smell the first time it wasn't that late. And surely hotel staff would be able to smell this themselves, you don't need a guest to point this out. But even if you choose to disregard this part of my review completely, the rest is still a rather unfortunate price-quality ratio...

We spent a pleasant and relaxing stay in the Lyon Meininger hotel. The hotel offers services such as a kitchen available for all the guests, a (little) play spot for children at the entrance, and the chance to have a take away lunch. Plus, it's easy and convenient to get to. We had a really good experience.

Excellent hotel! Clean and spaceous rooms with a unique design. Close to the tram and metro stations. Check-in check-out process is very smooth. Staff is friendly and the breakfast option is worth it.

We were given two single beds placed together. It was dreadful. Then when one of us was in the toilet a cleaning lady just rushed in with some towels then as if I wasn’t there went away again and came back in to let me go to her and take the towel. Our privacy was completely ruined and it also gave us a fright. Please at least knock the door and say that you are the cleaner and wait until the clients give permission to enter. It was really rude and disrespectful what they did.

The hotel is clean, the beds are comfortable, in a room for 4 the air conditioning is right next to the head of the person who sleeps on the upper part of the store bed. So if you want to avoid that, you need to open the window, which let the noise of heavy duty trains and other vehicles in from the street, so you have to bee a deep sleeper. The breakfast is a mistake, you better eat some real Croissants by one of the bakeries. The service personal is nice and helpful.

  • 4/5 Andy W. 1 year ago on Google
The only thing we found was the room was to hot. The Air-conditioning did not work and we spoke to the staff on 2 occasions and they assured us that it was now working. They agreed it was 24 degrees in our room and they will adjust this to a comfortable temperature but this did not happen. I think the aircon was not working and it did make our sleep uncomfortable at times with the window open next to a high speed rail link and busy road. I was disappointed the staff did not resolve this or move us to the other side of hotel away from the road.

Although we came for a business trip and spent very little time at the hotel, we had a pleasant stay that appealed to our needs. We would like to thank all the employees here again. If some improvements are made in room comfort, it can be called a hotel close to perfection!
