The cheese bread here was the main attraction. It was so good we ordered it a second time. Beef carpacio was delicious as well. For our mains we ordered the 22oz porter house steak. It was cooked medium rare like we ordered but the crust and seasoning was way off. It seems like only 1/4 of the steak was seasoned well and had a nice crust. The rest of the steak tasted kind of bland. Service was great for 90% of our night but it took quite a while for a server to come to us with a machine to pay our bill.

Although we were a bunch of teenagers, some of whom probably didn't dress as appropriate as expected, we received the same amount of care and respect from the staff and it was a wonderful all-rounder experience. The waitress was extremely patient and friendly and suggested the special steak in the house thing which was an absolute banger. Atmosphere was fire and tables were safely spread out and we have a comfortable and enjoyable time. 10/10 would come again and burn our friend's wallet for fun (jk).

Hands down the best dining experience I had during my time in Vancouver! Forget the Keg, forget Granville Island... Hy's Steakhouse is were the real party is at! From start to finish, the whole experience was impeccable. Plus their prices are very fair. They offer way better price points than competitors in Toronto or Montreal. PRO TIP: the "Cheese Toast" are a must!

Fine dining service without the pretentiousness. This is not our first time at Hy’s and it will definitely not the be last. From start to finish the service was top notch. We went on our 10 year wedding anniversary and we are so glad we did. Within the first couple of minutes we had been helped by no less than three people. Clearing the table of extra dishes, giving water and menus. Once our main server arrived the show began. Everything they do is muscle memory at this point and you can tell service is their priority. They staff were so friendly and made us feel at home. The food was also 5 stars. We had the Cesar salad (made table side), famous cheese toast, we each got the bone in Rib-eye and ended with the dark chocolate lava cake. Every bite and sip was perfection. The entire experience was everything you want in a nice romantic meal.

Flipping best steak I’ve ever had. This place is a cross between the 1950’s and pure gold. Don’t let yourself leave without getting multiple cheese bread servings. If heaven had a baby with a loaf of bread and cheese, this would be its perfect love child. Not even joking. Find me a better cheese bread in the city. Can’t even describe the steak accurately. It’s like if your 11 year old self was eating a bowl of frosted flakes or fruit loops. You never want it to end and you keep going back for me. Get to Hy’s and don’t you dare order that steak anything other than chef’s recommendation or you might get struck by lightning

to the managers of HY’S: I haven’t even left the restaurant yet, this is how important this review is. Alysia is AMAZING! I had to stop eating my dessert to write this. She is so charming, so funny, and so sweet. My fiancé and I are planning a wedding, so due to budgeting we can’t go out as much. We are SO GLAD we chose to come here and spend our money, especially with Alysia serving us. She is a ray of sunshine and genuinely so personable. I’ve worked in the restaurant scene and I know how difficult it can be to be so chipper and happy, but Alysia is GENUINELY that kind and sweet, you can tell! If she doesnt get a raise, I will personally DONATE to make sure she does! She’s so knowledgeable, so funny, so smart, and very fast with her service. We will be coming again very soon, and hopefully Alysia will be there! Side note: food was amaze and so were the drinks! And the girls at the front desk were adorbs!

The BEST Steakhouse I've had EVER been to. I've love steak, and this place was just another level for food and SERVICE. My server, Andrew, was so knowledgeable about everything else on the menu we asked about, from wines to mocktails, he was AMAZING to have as our table server. I had the porterhouse steak with mashed potatoes, but group I was with had the Beef Wellington and it looked fantastic, although it would have killed me due to my allergy. Friend I brought had steak and lobster, which was masterfully made and displayed. The mashed potatoes were devine, very soft and beautifully mashed, quite tasty with gravy. I'd like to say I'm a connoisseur of mashed potatoes as I have them almost everywhere I go - these are in the top 10 of mashed potatoes of places I've had. Thank you very much Hy's, I will return for another meal as this was a highlight of my year eating here.

I send my work executives here all the time so it was finally time for me to try it on my birthday! The food is excellent, service amazing and the atmosphere entertaining and makes for a great evening out. Everyone must have the cheesy bread! Fabulous steakhouse!

It was my moms birthday! We decided to go for a nice steak dinner. The staff was very professional and helpful. The food was incredible!! I highly recommend the Caesar salad, they make it at your table. They also add Tabasco sauce to the dressing which gave it a nice flavour. Very expensive, very tasty.

The food was pricey but delicious/tasty! Our server was awesome and very helpful with the menu. I highly recommend you reserve a table if you wanna dine in during dinner rush hours since the restaurant is a bit small.

32 oz bone in rib-eye steak was very filling for two people. Yes I ordered the cheese-bread and Caesar salad on side. Also, Escargot! For me Escargot was not really my style, but if you like sea snail, it could be nice to try out. It was good entertainment to watch how Caesar salad made and it’s yummy! Steak is perfectly cooked as medium rare! And service is super B! Dessert is not that impressive that’s why I leave 4 stars.

Classic and great food, service is very nice, server Chris was great, friendly and introduced the menu to us detailedly! The vibe there was very nice, comfortable, chill, great place to celebrate or gather together with friends! Cheese toast is surely a must-go, very thick favor of cheese with soft bread, some people might think it’s too rich tho. The Steak Neptune I got was very tender with filet, medium rare, the green bean and asparagus was refreshing, the sauce, steak and crab meat matched up perfectly. Baked potatoes was also well-flavored. The steak Wellington was good, but I personally will recommend their other steak options. Overall, great place, highly recommended!

Really great fancy date night spot! Loved the ambience of the place and the service was amazing! Food portion for sautéd prawns were kind of small but was delicious! The steak was cooked perfectly but I had peppercorn sauce which was not the greatest. Overall I recommend visiting.

Everything we wanted from a steak experience. Went here for a birthday dinner. Boyfriend is extremely picky with his steak and said easily one of the best steaks he’s ever had. Our server was very welcoming and made great recommendations. Our starters were the cheese toast, escargot and French onion soup. Cheese toast is classic, escargot with delicious amounts of butter garlic and the onion soups broth was the best part. Recommendation for my partner on his 32oz steak was perfect, mashed potatoes nice and creamy. We finished our dinner with banana fosters with a cute birthday candle that was a great end to our dinner. Espresso was exceptionally strong. That was the only thing I had a hard time finishing.

This is a great classic steak house. They offer table side caesar and bananas foster. Overall, the food was great. We ordered the beef wellington medium rare but came out closer to medium well. My wife ordered the filet, and it came out medium rare (as expected). Service was perfect. Our waiter even let the kids help with the table side caesar. When we are back in town, we will definitely come back.

We had couple cocktails with scallop & bacons . They were so tasty , the staffs are friendly . We had a fabulous dinne rat this gorgeous . the foods , drinks & service were amazing. We ‘d love to go back again.

Overall a strong menu offering. The only feedback I have is I am not a fan of the new ipad menu for drinks - takes away from the experience. The atmosphere was nice and the food was amazing. Got the porterhouse steak, since the aged dry rib steak was sold out... the waiter told me that I can reserved the steak next time when they get it again. I can see why they have the best steak in the city. The cheese toast is a MUST get. The oysters were amazing. The drinks, espresso and the cheese cake were all delicious. Everything was good and my experience there was great!

Hy's Steakhouse & Cocktail Bar is one of Vancouver's best steakhouses. But not only for their steaks (which are delicious), but they are the best because of their cheese bread. If I had to go there and only eat their cheese bread, I'd be a happy person. I'd totally recommend going to Hy's Steakhouse & Cocktail Bar for their steaks, but when you're there you HAVE to get the cheese bread, you'll thank me.

Best cheese bread I have tasted. Crispy and gooey. The stake is smokey, rich and tender. But the best part is definitely the service. The server had an unique charm. The price is not cheap but it's definitely an experience I wouldn't forget. Glad I was here with friends.

The service was excellent!! I love the atmosphere of the restaurant. We ordered cheese bread, Caesar salad, bone in rib steak and lamb. The cheese bread was very tasty, Caesar sad was the best one I’ve ever had, steak was a bit dried and lamb was a bit salty. But all the dishes were fresh and delicious.

If your thinking to go out to a great restaurant with great food and service, don't overthinking it, Hys is the place. Food is just delicious, and as usual in Vancouver you have an option for everyone. They have fine steaks as well as vegetarian meatloaf or vegan bowl. It is just grate. Also the cheese toast is definitely a most to order. Service is great, everyone is very polite and ready to help you. Cesar salad is a great show to order, it is made in your table. My favorite was the toast and the french onion soup. But I've hear the porterhouse is one of its kind. Love this restaurant

Shared our 1 year wedding anniversary here. The food was enjoyable as was the tableside service for my steak diane. My husband's steak was pretty standard considering the price. Side dishes were fine but nothing to write home about. And nothing special was offered nor were we asked if we were celebrating an event as we were clearly more dressed up than everyone in the room. We were also sat next to a bachelor party which ruined our romantic vibe. I would have rated higher but these things were clearly overlooked.

Not quiet what I expected from a place like this at these prices. The beef wellington was slightly burnt on the outside and very soggy on the inside and lacked flavor. Also tried the filet which was cooked nicely but also lacked flavor, all i could taste was salt.

Lovely dark and romantic setting with the grilled on show at the back with lovely food and top notch service. located on Hornsby Road is Hyde’s steakhouse is an eloquent dining experience. We were seated at a nice space down the back and greater by our waiter Chris Q and were welcomed and made comfortable. 🤗 The menu includes good options for all diets and is pricey but if you are looking for a luxurious dining experience and delicious steak this is the best place we found in Vancouver during our stay. What we ordered off the menu: Entree- Cheese toast for 2 Mains - 2 x 6oz Filet with mashed potato beautifully crafted jus and the other with chips and pepper corn sauce Dessert- Bananas foster Hy’s famous cheesecake The food was AMAZING 🤩 and we couldn’t fault any of it even if we tried. The meat was cooked to our liking that didn’t disappoint. Potatoes whipped perfectly and was decorated delightfully on the plate. The carrots were sweet and delicious The desserts were outstanding. The bananas foster is a good little show and was a lovely way to finish off such an awesome meal. Would recommend you make a reservation so not to miss out.

The interior and atmosphere of restaurant is antique and unique. Service is superior. Food wasn't fancy in presentation or anything new but tasted good in a expected homely way. Portion sizes are perfect.

We went last night for my husband's birthday. We were seated in a private area with only one other couple which was kind of awkward but the ambience and decor was really nice and creepy old school vibes with horror style photos on the wall. Andreas was a very nice server. The cheese toast was not as amazing as everyone keeps saying, it is like an open faced grilled cheese sandwich, I'm not understanding the hype. The beef wellington and the steak were amazing. The drinks were fantastic but each drink takes FOREVER. I would have ordered more drinks if the bar wasn't so super slow. Otherwise A+!! Will be back for sure.

The food is expensive but it is cooked really well, I especially loved the crispy brussel sprouts, and escargot. The cocktails are amazing 😍, like I would 100 % come back just for the cocktails. I had a gin smash and it was the most delicious cocktail I had in a long time. The only thing that was not good about the food was I ordered a medium rare and my friend ordered a medium and I think my waitress accidentally mixed up the 2 doneness. We didn't want to send it back and make a big deal. But pobody nerfect 😆 and we can forgive a human error. But my biggest gripe was the creepy waiter. I got to the restaurant earlier than my friend and I was seated at this sunken area. I was on my phone texting my friends when I felt someone was looking at me. Then I looked up and saw one of the male waiter standing at the main dining room looking down staring at my breast. I met eyes with him and he looked away, then I went back on my phone. But then he just immediately went back to checking out my breast until another waiter started chatting with him. This whole thing just made me soooo uncomfortable 😣 like I'm not unfamiliar with people checking me out but I expect a level of professionalism in such a fancy restaurant. Needless to say I don't see myself dining there again and dealing with the waiter but maybe I'll go for happy hour at the bar.

The best meal I have ever had, topped with service that seemed as well trained and rehearsed as Russian ballet. The place looks like it’s inside some kind of castle, paintings, art and details make the restaurant look both fancy and cozy at the same time. I can’t afford a place like this, but was taken there by a friend. I will never forget it: out of this world. I was treated so well, like never before in a restaurant, and honest to god it was the most tasty meal I’ve head, every single dish was perfect. Thank you Hy’s for the amazing experience!

Hy’s is a standout restaurant for their excellent customer service. Shout out to our server Monty (I apologize if the spelling is wrong). He was incredibly attentive to our needs the entire dinner, from the moment we asked for the soup of the day (he came right away to tell us 😄) to the end of our meal. We stayed until closing and never felt rushed to leave. Monty really cares about making your dining experience a good one. We found that the clam chowder was okay compared to the other dishes. He apologized for the soup and took care of it on the bill. He brought us drinks to make up for the soup which made us feel very cared for. Hy’s currently has a three fish special, the arctic char was a stand out. Good dish if you’re looking to try a variety of fish. We look forward to coming back to Hy’s for their welcoming staff and atmosphere.

This was my first time coming here and Max was our waiter, he was very polite and friendly, answered all my questions and wished me a happy birthday as I was celebrating my 50th . He was well mannered, very personable, The service was excellent. Had side table Ceasar salad made, it was fantastic, had the cheese bread as well, also delicious. I had the steak Neptune and it was phenomenal, cooked to my liking. Also they did a special desert for me. The whole visit was excellent, would definitely go back and recommend it to my friends and family

Despite being pricey, I would definitely recommend this place to my friends. Our visit was fantastic, and we enjoyed delicious food, including a perfectly cooked medium-rare steak (which can be hit or miss at other restaurants), beef wellington, broccoli, and clam chowder. The portions were decent, but I do wish the appetizers were a bit larger. The service was exceptional, with the staff striking the right balance of being friendly and attentive without being intrusive. They were knowledgeable about the menu and even recommended some excellent local wines to complement our meal. The food was beautiful and tasted wonderful, with standout dishes being the Tuna starter, Beef Wellington main, and Key Lime pie dessert. The wine list was extensive, and it was great to try some local wines that were recommended by the staff. Overall, we had a great experience and highly recommend this place for a special night out or a celebratory meal.

My husband is very picky when it comes to steak. Fully approved from hubby. Atmosphere is amazing. Service is SUPER. I was so amazed how our server Chris is so professional. Highly recommend their cheese bread (the best) and the ceaser salad as a starter. For the salads, your server will make the sauce front of you from the scratch. I want to come here every week. SERIOUSLY!

By far the best steakhouse I've been to in Vancouver. The prices are certainly justified with the quality of food. Excellent staff and even better ceasar salad! You will not regret the visit. I can't wait to go back!

My nephew wanted to try a good steak house before returning to Asia. I remember Hy's in Victoria decades ago so we looked for one in Vancouver. He ordered the bone-in steak and i had the filet. They were able to cook the steaks medium as requested, fire-seared, and not too salty. The mushroom soup was very fragrant and home-made. My baked potato had all the fixings. They have a nice wine selection by the glass. We then finished off with the Banana Porter flambe done table-side. The waiters were very attentive and we did not have to wave for more service as they came over frequently to refill our glasses, serve the wine, and provide sauce for the steaks. My nephew described it as the 5 star steak experience he was expecting. We missed trying the cheese bread and the Caesar salad done table-side but perhaps next time.

Place was amazing! Whatever people have told you about the cheese toast is true: irresistible!! So good! Had the new york strip, melt in your mouth steak!! Definitely would go back!

Great selection of bourbons and whiskey. Cheese bread is amazingly delicious. Spinach salad is better than Cesar salad.
