Arrived to check in at 3 pm and was told the room is not yet ready. We had to wait for over an hour for the room to be prepared. We were given a drink voucher to use in the restaurant (Notch 8) while waiting. Upon sitting down, we were ignored for over 10 minutes. I had to flag down a waitress to ask to be served. The short, older woman waitress shook her head, said she wasn’t our waiter, and didn’t even come over to our table; there was some confusion over who was serving us, and she spoke with another waiter. We were finally served by a male waiter who was lovely, but by that point, I was not in a very good mood. The room and breakfasts were good. Overall, I expected much more for the price. At the bare minimum, I expect to be able to check in at the time advertised on their website.

Not worth the price you pay. Very dated rooms that are desperate need of renovation. Service is also appealing to a level of pretentiousness that is off-putting in a modern diverse culture that the city of Vancouver stands for. I will not be staying at the hotel ever again as there are many better options that are more in tune with today's times and trends. As for the restaurant, I have tried the dinner, breakfast, and high tea offerings and none of these were pleasant experiences. Fairmont has some work to do in the challenging times facing our economy where hospitality and tourism continue to be significantly impacted.

It was our second time booking at Hotel Vancouver, and each time has been a great experience. The hotel staff were friendly, and the check-in/check-out process was easy. We were graciously upgraded from a Queen suite to a King suite when we went with our baby, and they provided a crib for us as well. The room was clean and the floor was newly renovated. The only minor complaint I have is that the elevators smelled strongly of perfume each time we were on it, but I think that was just the other guests who were staying.

Stayed here with the family for 4Days 3Night. We were really looking forward to stay here but were really disappointed with the stay. For the price you pay for this hotel, it’s really not worth it. Parking is expensive at 60+cad per night and the process was really complicated. We had to ask a few people to then know how to pay for it. Service wasn’t great too. Rooms are really outdated. The swimming pool wasn’t heated and they didn’t have a jacuzzi to warm you up. (Other similar hotels have better pools) It’s odd as we also stayed at the Fairmont whistler and it is super nice and such a big difference to this hotel. We are a regular with Sutton hotel just a few blocks from this hotel and find that you get more for what you pay from them! Also they have newer rooms and cheaper less complicated parking. 🤷🏻‍♂️ the pool is also better there. Unfortunately we won’t be returning to this spot due to how expensive it is and what kind of amenities this place provide. Shout out to John Paul, for making our stay more pleasant. He is super friendly and gives tips for around the area.

This is a gleaming hotel, and a marvelous place for a stay during the Christmas season. As far as as the smell of weed outside the hotel is concerned , I don’t think the hotel can play any role. The city has to take it up. The proximity to the local attractions is an added bonus. There was a minor issue with the heating in our room, within a couple of minutes we were given a portable room heater. The service was so good! The rooms are spacious, and comfortable, and ours had a great view of the city. The differently-themed holiday trees were such a visual treat! The housekeeping staff made sure that our room was neat, and everything was well-arranged. They gave me a big container of moisturizer for use during my stay, and suggested that I could buy one if I had taken a liking to it. The uniformed service attendants were very helpful with our luggage. I will definitely be going back!

Decided to stay at the Fairmont Hotel during our stay for the Rugby 7’s weekend. There was a great package deal for Tickets and Hotel accommodations. The location was incredible, and the staff and front lobby was picture perfect. Our room on the other hand may need some renovations as there were multiple locations with cracked walls. Nothing major; however, a bit surprising for a stay at the Fairmont.

A manager was suppose to email me regarding our stay. It’s been almost a week with nothing. The staff was amazing! Especially with little ones. But the room was disgustingly hot. The first night was okay - the second night was unbearable. I called down while we went for breakfast. They said they would send someone up. All they did was open the window. We only slept from 2am a 7 year old so uncomfortable she was up all night. Air conditioning didn’t work. The thermostat said it was 78 in the room. No fan in be bathroom so it made it worse when you took a shower. We ordered room service and the woman who brought it was waving her hand to her face saying it was so hot. At checkout I told the gentleman about it and he was surprised they didn’t offer to change rooms. Needless to say I was very disappointed with our stay.

They don’t know the meaning of luxury or hospitality. The level of noise at the hotel is completely unacceptable. The first room they put us in was next to a utility closet that workers used on a regular basis. Door opening and closing, rummaging through glass bottles, loud conversations, just terrible hospitality. The next room was an “upgrade” however, this room was even louder. Each morning at 6am the banging around began. It sounds like someone was moving furniture or dropping weights. Loud thumps every few minutes making it impossible to sleep. We will never return to this hotel, one of the worst hotel experiences.

Make sure to use ʜᴏᴛᴇʟʙoʟʟʏ.ᴄᴏm when booking your hotel. This web site will compare hundreds of hotel sites and usually will have prices much cheaper than others! Thank me later! This hotel is one of the highest rated in the area. I have been coming here for a long time. If you choose this place you definitely won't regret it. Stayed on the Gold floor. Service was excellent and staff were helpful and friendly. Location is fantastic! Can walk or use sky train to the best of Vancouver. Didn’t use car during entire stay. We will stay at this hotel again. The only thing I wished they had was a hot tub.

The hotel location was great. Staff were nice. But the hotel room needs some attention. There were visible debris on the carpet, tub needs scrubbing or upgrade and the shower head needs to be fixed (it wasn’t holding up properly). One of the reading light wasn’t working either. Sound proofing was not good at all. I had much better experience at other Fairmonts.

This review is specifically for Mark L. who worked the gala event on October 14. Thank you for your kindness - he went above and beyond his role to help a guest which is greatly appreciated. I believe he is new to the position. but Fairmont has a gem. That level of customer service and extra attention has my recommendation of the hotel to family, friends and colleagues for years to come. Also much gratitude to excellent execution of the menu at the event by our planner Alan. He was superb, meticulous and delivered as was promised. Thank you for a job done wonderfully.

This is not my favorite of the Fairmont Hotels. Staff are great, and the rooms recently renovated so many, if not all rooms only have walk-in showers and no bath tubs. I don't mind that, but they don't tell you that when booking. Also, many rooms don't have Air Conditioning. Even in January, the room was 25°C and I needed a fan. This is also something they don't tell you about when booking. Notch 8 restaurant and lounge was very nice though. I'll stay at the Fairmont Waterfront or Pacific Rim from now on.

Location is very convenient. Walking distance to mall, restaurants, etc. but the cons to this is because it’s in such a busy location, there are many people in streets. Mix that with the smell of weed. Not pleasant to me personally. The inside of the hotel is very nice. Looks luxurious. They have only one really nice restaurant. They serve breakfast, lunch, dinner and have a trendy bar. You can shop in a handful of high end stores like Dior, Omega, etc. Standard room was clean and bed was comfortable. However, the walls are thin. I am a heavy sleeper, slept through storms before, but I was awakened by loud noises from people talking and laughing at 1am in the hallway. It lasted what seems to be 2 hours. Very disrespectful for other guests. Couldn’t go back to bed after that. Hotel needs to put up signs for noise curfew. As for the services, not like what we are accustomed to from other Fairmont hotels we have been in past. When we first pulled our car up to hotel, a male staff stood outside the door and didn’t come up to help us. He looked at us and then looked away. That may sound unbelievable, if management is reading this, but that did happen. At the check-in counter, the female staff was not as friendly or welcoming to new guests checking in. Can’t say I’ll recommend others to stay here. Maybe just to eat and shop.

Overall would not recommend. A Luxurious experience was promised and not delivered. Staff was rude and refused us service because we were in our robes trying to get a quick bite to eat before our 1500 dollar spa treatment. No menu in the room. 33 dollars for granola or fruit. Locked out of our fridge in the room. The pool is disgusting, the hot tub has been filled with dingy garden rocks and cheap green fake grass. When I asked on the phone if there was a pool and an hot tub functioning the gal said yes, and this in fact was not true. It looked nothing like the heavily edited photos. the only service that wasn’t rude was from the lovely valet guy! I would never stay again but highly recommend the paradox for similar prices and extremely different experience. Even sand man has more to offer. 3000 dollars spent over two days and such a disappointment for an outdated, disorganized rude experience. Another impressionable note was the dog barking behind the desk constantly while we were trying to get help.

The perfect place to stay it's so beautiful. My room it's amazing on the 9th floor Fairmont Gold King Grand , double French door that opens up into sitting area, large sofa, work table, the furniture is top of the line, I slept well, my bed is so comfy just perfect, I loved my soft pillows. I have the city views & skyline .I watched spectacular sunset .I liked the most were the staffs, Michelle, Heather & Darren their service is exceptional. I loved that the Fairmont Gold Lounge is on the same floor like my Fairmont Gold Suite. The ambience it's so classic. Private check- in & out for Fairmont Gold is so extra special .Lots of activities to explore in the heart of the city ,staffs have exceptional advice .Thank you so much!

I wanted to shout out Russell from the front desk! Absolutely made our stay! There was such a long line at check in, but when we got to the front he was so friendly and calm and engaging, I completely forgot about the wait! He recognized it was my birthday and asked questions and gave recommendations - it was really personalized service and I felt, honestly, special. Our room wasn’t ready so he offered us drink vouchers, which I know can be common practice, but I think just the way he did it made us feel seen and important and taken care of. He started our stay on such a high note, it was impossible to not have a good time! I’ve never written a review for an interaction with someone at the front desk as they’re usually so brief, but Russell really left a mark. Thank you!!

I had a great stay! The service was incredible, especially from Royal Service and the Notch 8 staff. We had Adam in the evening, who was very friendly and helpful. In the morning we had Wendy serving us breakfast. She went above and beyond, noticing that we were feeling a bit tired from the previous night and brought us back to life with great chat and suggestions of fresh fruit to go with our food

From the very start it was special. You were made to feel special. David, Neil and Debbie the concierge team were outstanding on a level that must be acknowledged. Our stay was five nights, but they made us feel like residents. Assisted by the Hotels two Ambassador dogs with Ellie practicing lounging to very high standard. Everything was effortless and local knowledge was offered instantly to guide you to enjoy every moment of each day. Maps with coffee shop stops (our favourite being Thierry on Alberni Street) and day trips with shuttle services as well. The location is perfect to take in everything that is wrapped around it. We dined out and was taken and collected to our chosen restaurant by the Hotels fabulous chauffeurs Daniel and Patrick. Two words. Stay here.

We always love our experience at the Fairmont Vancouver Hotel. The staff are all so friendly and accommodating. When we called the front desk in need of anything we didn't wait more than 10 mins for the staff to be up with what we needed. Love the original architecture as well! Comfortable beds too!

It does not deserve the money, rooms were nice and clean, nothing else. We selected Fairmont to have a luxury stay, but there was not a jacuzzi, the pool was small, outdated and the water temperature was not warm enough, so I was not able to use it, Spa is not included, no space in the reception area to sit together as a family, no view from the rooms. The rooms were facing the small pool and we can only see it and the public garages ceiling, which was not a good view at all. The Staff was not friendly or welcoming at all. I do not recommend it.

The Fairmont Hotel Vancouver is a beautiful and historic hotel (opened in 1939), and an overall great place to stay. Location is excellent. It's right next to the Vancouver Art Museum, and a 14 minute walk to the Vancouver Convention Center. The staff was courteous and helpful. We brought our small child. The hotel room had a minibar which triggered a room charge if anything was picked up (about $15 to $20 each item, with some $50 bottles of wine). Again, we had a small child with us... We didn't want our toddler to buy $200 worth of minibar drinks and snacks just by picking them up. When we asked them to remove those items from our room, they explained this results in a $50 restocking fee, which seems excessive. They worked with us though, and we were happy with the solution. There was no refrigerator in the room (aside from the one full of minibar booze) for occupant use, which we missed. It's helpful to have a fridge to stash leftovers, or milk for your child. The pool was nice and clean. No hot tub; the previous hot tub was filled in and now covered with astroturf. Overall, it was a great hotel and we would stay there again. It's perhaps better for people without small children though.

This is a tremendous hotel - we stayed here for a couple of nights before a cruise, and we loved our stay from start to finish. We arrived a little early since our flight arrived around noon, and we were allowed to check in early, which was great. The keys are wooden, which is a very unique touch. The hotel has a ton of character given its age, but has been upgraded nicely. Our room was a nice size and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom features a very nice and updated shower. The location is fantastic - it's not far from the Vancouver City Centre stop on the SkyTrain (Canada Line), which made it very easy to get to from the airport. It was not too far of a walk to Canada Place, which was convenient for our cruise even though we weren't staying on the waterfront. We did go to the restaurant in the lobby for breakfast one morning. The food was very good - a little pricey, but on par with what you would expect at a hotel of this caliber. Highly recommend!

Very nice hotel. The location is perfect (5min walk to metro) Rooms are clean and very big. The restaurant downstairs for the breakfast is really nice and cheap, except the coffee (very expensive). The swimming is nice, there is swinging coat for little children, and some toys (and a mini golf)

We had a very good stay at the Fairmont. Early check in was available for us. Check-in was efficient and friendly (thank you Russell). We got some good advice on reaching Stanley Park which was very close. Rooms were very clean and well appointed. Service staff were very friendly. Our only sore point was the very slow elevators and only about half of them seemed to work. Certainly not a show stopper but ...perhaps management can address this? Otherwise we are very happy with our stay. Thank you..

This was a perfect stay at a beautiful hotel with an excellent location! Our inbound flight was delayed, and we arrived during the wee hours of the morning. We were unsure who would be available to greet us when we arrived, but the receptionist at the front desk was amazing. She asked if we would like to enroll in the Accor program, which meant that our stay would count toward future Fairmont rewards. This was our first stay at a Fairmont Hotel, and it was a great way to build loyalty to the brand. Our breakfast at the restaurant was perfectly prepared. The service was impeccable, and our server shared many helpful tips about the city. The Concierge Desk did a stellar job helping us plan activities during our stay The two gorgeous dogs on either side of the desk were great hotel mascots, and we enjoyed greeting them each morning. Our hotel room had everything we could possibly want or need. We were surrounded by luxury, and we loved every moment of our stay. Everything was first-rate, and we would be delighted to stay here again on a future trip to Vancouver. We shall return!

Our 2-night stay at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver was exceptional. The hotel itself is a sight to be seen, the amenities and location are perfect, but truly the staff is what made the entire experience so memorable. Our concierge extraordinaire Russell made my mother and I feel so happy, taken care of and at ease. His entire demeanor is that of someone who genuinely values the person they are interacting with at any given moment, and all while maintaining the utmost professional standards, made us instantly feel like we were old friends. That is the hospitality experience I want to have wherever I stay, forevermore. He’s a gem and I hope the Fairmont knows what a special person they have with them!

I stay in Vancouver somewhat regularly for vacations and decided to try the Fairmont vs my usual stay at the Shangri-La. I walked away impressed and under a clear understanding that this is a well-managed property. While this is one of the few places I have no status (darn!), my family was still treated fabulously. I noted in the reservation that it was my sister’s birthday and they had desert and a card waiting in the room. How thoughtful! Additionally, I called to make sure my sister could check in prior to my arrival which they quickly made happen. When she got there she was informed we were “guests of the day” and were being treated to drinks! Start to finish this hotel was great. I want the staff know how much I appreciated the attention to great service. It was noticed and appreciated!!

The hotel has charm. From the old elevators to the original Canada Post box. Probably not operational, the post box I mean, but still cool to see. The room is nice, very clean and the king sized bed is really comfortable. The only downside is that people can get pretty loud in the hallways at night.

  • 3/5 Jason D C. 2 years ago on Google
Recently spent a week there. Reception desk staff varies from cordial to almost rude. Renovated rooms were fairly clean, bathrooms a little small and bathtubs a little rustic. Swimming pool is fairly good but there were some spots of rust in the swimming pool area. Wait for elevators can be very long when busy. All in all, would recommend if you're not paying full price.

Just stayed here for 4 nights in rooms 485 & 487. The room was good, except the tubs for both rooms were chipped and the drain was scary looking. Outsode our room is a white door that was in bad shape as well. When complained, the hotel offered us $50 per room dining credit but everyday we ordered in room breakfast there, they always made some sort of mistake in our order. The last night I was ordering breakfast for the morning the man on the phone taking the order said he wanted to confirm the order because apparently they made a mistake in the last breakfast order and he emphasized on the word apparently to which I replied yes you did make a mistake. My parents went for breakfast the first morning at the Notch 8 restaurant in the hotel and the waitress was rude as soon as my father asked for some warm milk for his cereal. The 3 stars I'm giving is for the location. Would I stay here again? Definitely not. I would suggest trying the other 2 Fairmont hotels here. Maybe they are better (especially in customer service). I was disappointed spending my hard earned dollars here.

Thid was a treat after 5 day hike. Soft beds, coffee in the room is delicious. I did not dine in the restaurant of the hotel but service was good as it should be in 4 star hotel. Customers and staff were required to wear masks which I liked.

I just went for coffee and dessert at the restaurant on the lobby level. Service is excellent, as you would expect from a Fairmont facility, and the dessert I had was totally scrumptious. Coffee is nice and strong aka cleansing, the pavlova was one of the of the best 🍨 I've tried. I wish I took a picture. Totally recommend. It is expensive and it's a totally pleasant experience.

Chose the Fairmont as a treat to myself for a staycation, I haven’t even checked out and I’m excited to come back more often! My dog and I are huge fans of Debbie the concierge, such amazing customer service (and dog treats). We feel very welcomed and at home ❤️

The hotel is very charming. Love the architecture and interior design there. Such a beautiful property though room is quite small and window is very small too. Good happy hour deals at the bar so even you re not planning to stay here, try to drop by. The location is very prime and convenient, next to the museum and shopping centre. The hospitality is not as wow as I expected

I really enjoyed my stay at the Fairmont, the rooms were nicely updated, and very clean. The hotel staff was friendly, made me laugh, and available for any questions. The hotel is really kid friendly, and we enjoyed doing the treasure hunt for kids. I also enjoyed all the the history that comes with staying at the Fairmont

We were not super impressed with this hotel. We stayed March 26-28 and check in took over 2.5 hrs. (We arrived at 2:45, check in is 3). The room was not ready…so the front desk said they’d text us, but they didn’t..and I had to call and ask. We had to be somewhere, and so we barely had time to get ready. The first night, there was a huge party and our entire room was thumping. After midnight I finally called, and she kind of laughed at me, and excitedly told me I was at a party, as there was a huge party going on. I told them I didn’t want to be at a party, and so around 12:30 we switched rooms. We coincidentally met friends the next morning also stating at the same hotel, and they too had to switch rooms because of the noise. The new room was ok but it was missing the robes and slippers and when we asked it was too late when we received them to use them anymore. There was no A/C, even though it said there was. Overall, the staff was courteous, but completely understaffed and it is affecting people’s enjoyment of the services.

Stayed on the Gold floor. Service was excellent and staff were helpful and friendly. Location is fantastic! Can walk or use sky train to the best of Vancouver. Didn’t use car during entire stay. We will stay at this hotel again. The only thing I wished they had was a hot tub.

Went to the spa today, and it was lovely. Bozena took care of me and really wanted to ensure I was relaxed and felt comfortable every moment. She is polish, as am I so it felt like home for me. I would definitely suggest the complimentary private sauna. The nail technician was also wonderful, great conversations. Wish I could remember her name!

Typically this Hotel would not be somewhere that we would stay. My price range is closer to the Holiday Inn. However the experience was amazing, the staff were amazing and great to deal with. They treated us with the same respect that they would treat a wealthy couple and that was appreciated. Thank you for the once in a lifetime experience.

I loved my stay here for the most part. Location is amazing. The signature smell is divine. The beds are incredible. This place is fancy but I loved it. Walls are a bit thin so you hear *everything* but staff were very receptive to the issues and handled them beautifully. It’s not cheap but was truly best value for money hotel during a month long holiday across US/Canada. Would most definitely stay again.

Beautiful room. Central location to restaurants, shopping and conference centres. Hotel service is exceptional and the staff work to the best of their abilities to accommodate requests. For instance, they brought in a small fridge for our water and brought in a yoga mat for me. The cleaning staff are pleasant and accommodated our privacy needs. One note of concern is the thermostat is quite finicky and will not set to what is wanted. The telephone system to access hotel services could be more user friendly.

The beds are comfortable and the room was very clean and nicely appointed. The kids had fun in the pool and enjoyed the scavenger hunt and the staff were all very friendly. The only thing that was a bit weird was the parking, which we could pay for until 6am and then had to renew for another full day for $47. That made it a bit of a rushed morning getting out before it expired.

Went here for NAIOP’s September Networking Breakfast. Great location, easy to get to without all the traffic when breakfast is at 0730am The foyer was completely packed full and was great for hosting a panel discussion. Excellent venue. Breakfast served was delicious and the coffee was very flavourful and strong! Great venue overall.

Honestly the loudest beds we've ever encountered! It's too bad because it's not a bad hotel aside from that. Service and staff were excellent. In room dining for the breakfast was cooked well and the food was very good. They didn't move our rooms but the beds were still super loud. I have a video I wish I could post it! We traveled with a 5-year-old and 7-year-old and on their breakfast interim dining the 5-year-old 8 for free from the kids menu and the 7-year-old was half price. That brought the total down to a reasonable amount. When you first look at the menu there is a lot of sticker shock though! The pool was a nice temperature and lots of loungers around. It's not the nicest pool it's basically a vinyl liner pool inside a concrete shell but definitely good enough to bring the kids to. I would not say this hotel was worth the money though or lived up to the Fairmont moniker.

Only stayed a night, prior to a cruise, but thoroughly enjoyed it. Great room, super bed and amenities. All staff very friendly and helpful, especially the concierge's woofs! Breakfast was amazing, highly recommended.

We stayed here during the first days of our trip to Canada. The hotel was already chosen by Rocky Mountaineer and it's also a popular choice amongst cruise lines, I believe. The building itself is beautiful, very iconic, and the hotel is very well located. There are several luxury shops inside and the restaurant is very good. The hotel shows a bit its age in some details (carpets on the corridors, bathroom), but it's overall well kept and clean. The room was very spacious and the view was also very nice. The minibar is full and it works by motion detection, so be aware of that, don't take things out unless you intend to consume them. The staff was 5 stars. We had stayed in Vancouver before, at another hotel, but Fairmont Hotel Vancouver is a great choice 👌
