April's Aquarium has become a mecca for the planted Aquarium hobby. I can't say enough good things. They regularly order unique and interesting fish. Their team is surprisingly knowledgeable. The experience has improved since the two locations merged. Having all the live stock in one location is convenient. I've been very happy with aquarium coop products, and the wide selection of hardscape. They stand by their product warranties. Lastly, April's aquarium treats their fish with great care. They score big points on quality. The fish they sell are well fed and healthier than I'm used too. I haven't had any issues with diseases. They are the only store I know of that quarantines all of their fish before selling it.

Best freshwater fish store in the lower mainland hands down their prices are very down-to-earth they are also a retail partner with aquarium co-op for aquarium supplies. Super knowledgeable staff, very friendly even the owner go's above and beyond for friendliness! The whole team is just absolutely wonderful super knowledgeable and very. There's a pretty cool points system there that if you get enough points you're eligible to get an aquarium, definitely a huge bonus! Huge selection of fish and supplies, prices are the same you'll find anywhere else beating the competitors!

First time here but familiar faces. The people here are always lovely! They had such beautiful Guppies’s but waiting to give some of my own away to make room for more. Got one spiky snail as it was all they had. I might go to the one on Hastings to pick up a few more 😬 I was given a lovely towel that I will keep in my fish room!

We have been shopping at their Burnaby location for a while now so we decided to check out their new location. Staff were very friendly and not pushy at all. Answered any questions we had regarding plants and fish. Store was nice and bright as well as very clean. We also got to sneak a peak at the back area and it was very cool to see their set up. We will continue shop at both locations. Thank you April’s staff for your great customer service and amazing selection of both fish and plants.

One of the best fish stores in town. Quality and fair pricing. They also have a knowledge base I trust. All this and it's obvious they love fish culture. We drive all the way from MR because we trust them that much.

We have loved April's Aquarium for years and couldn't wait when we saw there was a new location opening up. When we visited, we got to tour the entire store and we were astonished by how well thought-out the layout and the displays were. It's obvious everyone at April's is really passionate and devoted to the store and the fish. You can't compare any other fish store to this place. It's a must-see.

I can’t believe I drove past this place to work and never popped in. Absolutely stunning set ups with very well taken care of aquatics. Jacob is super knowledgeable and helpful. I really enjoy shopping here. I wont be getting things from anywhere else. 100 percent recommend.

April’s Aquarium is our go-to place for all our aquatic needs. We were impressed by their variety of fish when we visited their Vancouver location. The owner Darrin is very knowledgeable and friendly, and he always answers our emails promptly. We have ordered several deliveries from them since our first visit, and we are very happy with the quality of the fish. They arrive healthy and lively, and they have adapted well to our aquarium.

April's Aquarium has always been super helpful and amazing when I have shopped in store and online. It's a great environment to go and shop around for any of your aquarium needs and they have a HUGE selection of fish and supplies. This past week I have been sick in bed and there was a short noticed scheduled power outage and April's delivered a battery operated air pump to me same day! My partner and I went to Aprils Aquarium as newcomers to aquascaping and were blown away by the friendliness and knowledge of Darrin and his staff at the Marine Drive location. They approached us with such intrigue to our projects and considered our budget and gave us realistic advice for which plants would work in our tanks with our fish. I got a piece of beautiful wood and lots of plants and we ended up going back for more things such as fluval stratum substrate, a filter, moss and more. The plants were in great health, and have taken well in our tanks. The store is clean and much bigger than I expected, it was a blast exploring around and looking at all the tanks of different species id never seen before. Definitely recommend Aprils Aquariums for advanced to even beginner aquascapers!

It was our first time visiting April’s Aquarium and we were pleased to receive such fantastic customer service! Sadly, we don’t see a lot of this these days. All the staff were really friendly and helpful especially Darrin. He was a real kind and honest guy, very knowledgeable and gave us many helpful tips. We were originally going to purchase a used tank, but Darrin convinced us that there are risks if you don’t know how old or if there were ever any issues with disease etc… Fortunately they just happened to have the tank we wanted in stock, so while we ended up paying a bit more for the new tank, it was definitely worth it for the piece of mind. With Darrin’s advice, he made it a super easy decision for us to purchase our first aquarium! He also gave us many suggestions on what we can use to put together in our new aquarium. Our little guy even received beautiful shells as a keepsake! I’m quite pleased with how it turned out! We’re definitely going to be long time customers now.

Although not my first time purchasing from April's it was my first time receiving a shipment. The fish arrived happy and healthy. I can't say enough about April's Aquarium. Darrin and the staff are knowledgeable and care about their stock and it shows. They have a really good variety of fish, are very helpful and the store is a treat to visit. Huge bins of hardscape will keep you there for hours if you're not careful. Highly recommend them. This shipment I got a bunch of these cuties. Love them!

Good freshwater fish, knowledgeable staff and a number of fish and supplies. The fish are all quarantined before sale. I already put side by side the same variety of fish from other suppliers, I really feel that April's fish are more colorful and grow faster. You can't find all kinds of fish and supplies though, what forces me to go to other places for very specific stuff, but I always go back to their location for healthy fish and good advice.

I go to this place for all my fish hobby needs since they opened here. They treat me like a friend and family. Any question I had they were answering patiently. I like just walk around and look at the set ups in the tanks at front. So much so that I wanted to set up a cube tank. Today when I told they they gave me one free evendough I didnt have enough points yet. Today I mentioned that my drift wood too long and I wasnt able to cut it, rightaway they told me to bring it in and they will cut it for me. Thank you. Just made my week. I loved visiting! I'm a long-time patron of the Hastings store, and was so excited to see the new location. They have a massive quarantine facility at the back of the store, which makes me feel better about the health of my livestock, and the aquascaped tanks around the showroom are so nice for inspiration. I'll definitely be back soon!

Just visited the new second location of April's Aquarium! It's beautiful! We were lucky because it wasn't too busy and they gave us a tour of the backroom. The store is clean and organized and staff are super friendly and helpful! Highly recommend you go visit when looking for your aquarium needs! We're so happy to finally have a LFS near where we live!

April's Aquarium have a wide selections of fishes and it's always fun to check out the store. Staffs are friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. All my fishes are healthy and It's my one stop shop for all my fish needs! They also have an amazing point system!

Best fish. Best plants. Best prices. Best staff. Have been shopping here since I got back in the hobby a year ago. They are often the "first in canada" and even "first in north america" to carry some of the fish species in their offering, ultra rare fish that you truly cannot find anywhere else and some you may not see ever again. Their fish shipments are quarantined, cared for and brought back to full health (from their terrifying dark journey to the store) before they are even listed for sale to the public. They offer everything you need for a high tech planted tank, and have the best and largest selection of tissue culture plant pots and live rooted plants which are replenished weekly. Of course you can also find some ultra rare plants in their offering. Staff are so incredibly knowledgeable and always happy to hear your stories and photos. There is a reason their store is always full, they simply leave no reason for you to shop anywhere else. Everything except the tank itself (and my dirty co2 diffuser) in this photo was sourced from Aprils, with a lot of help from their team along the way. 6 stars.

Darrin was extremely helpful and took his time with us as we were starting a new aquarium. He took the time to answer all our questions and was helpful on a follow up phone call. We returned a week later and Jacob helped us pick out our first set of fish. Would highly recommend Aprils Aquarium

Their policy is wrong. They said. A goldfish needs a tank of at least 35 gallons. But that's wrong. I used to raise goldfish, but there was nothing wrong with a small aquarium. And it's very rude to tell customers that they can't sell goldfish without buying a big tank because the tank is small. Especially for customers who used to grow goldfish. I have hurt my pride. So why do they have dozens or hundreds of fish in a small aquarium? When I asked the employee, he said, "Because this is temporary." But it's wrong to say that you shouldn't put a lot of fish in a small aquarium. I guess they just want to sell the aquarium. If you think of ordinary fish, you shouldn't put a lot of fish in one rank.This is super bad customer service .

I got my 10" cube tank here. I got the package deal it came with light, filter and warmer. It is my first aquascape and I have little knowledge about all this. I have a lot of questions and concerns about starting this tank but the staff and owner at April's answered a lot of my questions big and small. They give me the confidence to start. Now I own a tank and it is creates the way I've imagined. Thank you very much.

Very clean and well organized. Staff very friendly and helpful. So nice to find a store closer to home for all my aquarium needs. Will definitely be back!

This is an incredible aquarium store, highly recommend! Over the last few months I've been building a 55 gallon aquarium for my 21-year old Red Eared Slider. Every employee there is really knowledgeable about aquarium care. Although I wasn't there to buy fish, the principles are all pretty much the same for my turtle, and I was able to get all the necessary decorations, chemicals, and materials to make the perfect home for my turtle. I also ordered my aquarium stand from them at a great price compared to other stores, and they hand-delivered it to me within the week! I felt particularly grateful for that, because I did not have the strength to carry that item myself, and I was already a bit stressed about that. They took the worry right out of my hands. Not to mention...it was free! I also had one of the employees teach me about improving the flora in my aquarium, and advised me on some good decorations that would not just be pretty, but support the health of the tank. Since I've done the recommendations, my tank is healthier than it has ever been, and it requires less maintenance compared to before. Every time I go into the store I learn a bunch of new things! I always enjoy going to April's Aquarium. Not just because it's fun to look at the fishes and browse the goods, but because the service is truly top notch. I highly recommend it for all your aquarium needs! Thank you!

This place is amazing! Service is great, variety of fish is large, and very clean. We were looking for a tankmate for our large female angelfish. After going around to a handful of other pet stores, nothing beats April’s aquarium. The staff were kind and knowledgeable. Highly recommend this place!!

This is the best aquarium store I have ever been to. I have to mention that Jacob really impressed me with his professionalism and willingness to help. I could feel that he tried everything he could to assist me in figuring out every single detail to build my fish tank from scratch. I must say it's a must-visit place! By the way, the quality of the fish they sell is incredible! This store is very responsible. If their fish ever show signs of being unhealthy, they would rather keep them in their own tank and nurse them back to health instead of sneakily selling them to customers. I love this place!

A beautiful shop with very knowledgeable staff, I highly recommend the lights they sell for planted aquariums. I like the fact that the store owners want what's best for the fish and promote healthy and responsible fishkeeping. It's a very lovely store and they're constantly adding more so each visit brings along a new surprise or two. Ask the owner about his home bred guppies he's done a good job breeding out some vibrant colored guppies that he usually sells in store.

Easily the best fish store I have been to in my 20 years of keeping tropical fish. Ever since Darrin took over he legit made this fish store the best out there (Nothing against the old owner April she was great). This shop is easily my go to for anything I need. Fish/hardscape/plants/supplies this is easily the best place to go to. The quality is always spot on. Prices are always very very good. I don’t see a point in shopping anywhere else as Darrin and his staff treat you with nothing but respect.

I love this place. I've been looking for a specialty Aquatic hobby store locally and I'm so glad I found it with Aprils. The staff are always so excited to be there, and care about the fish they're selling. Great advice, great service. Darrin is a delight. So glad I was able to purchase almost everything I needed for my tank at April’s Aquarium. I like that I can order online and pick up or have items delivered as well. Staff are helpful and give advice about fish. Can be a bit fast paced as well but still an amazing one stop shop. Not all available plants are on the website so do pop in for a look. You’ll leave refreshed. I also love that their livestock have mandatory quarantine before sales! This greatly reduces the chances of the customer getting a sick fish. They’re very passionate about fish keeping and offer excellent advice. If you’re a beginner and don’t know where to start, start here.

Absolute hidden gem! Such a fantastic place to go if you are thinking of starting, or wanting to continue, your fish journey. Darrin, and his staff, are incredibly kind and chalk full of good advice when it comes to designing your dream tank! Won’t be going anywhere else again. Purchased some plants, shrimp and substrate as apart of the delivery order to west Kelowna! Everything is absolutely amazing and the whole process was very smooth and saved me having to drive farther (40+) minutes or even to Aprils Aquarium which is a 3hr drive from me! I only had to drive about 5 minutes which is always nice to have this option and all the items they carry in a more local setting. Attached is a picture of all the plants, shrimp and substrate that was purchased!

My son and I decided we wanted a new fish tank and started shopping around. We went to PetSmart and a couple of other specialty aquarium shops, before visiting April's on 69th Avenue in Vancouver where we met the owner, Darrin. From the moment we arrived at the store, Darrin gave us his full attention and went over everything we needed to know in great detail. He did not leave anything out! He taught us so much and made sure we got the perfect tank for us. His knowledge and customer service was absolutely outstanding! My son and I agreed that same day that we would only shop at April's Aquarium going forward because of our incredible experience. After our tank took the few weeks it needed to get ready for our fish, we returned to the shop and were helped by Jared to choose the perfect fish for our tank. Again, another incredible experience! Jared was as knowledgeable and attentive as Darrin. Since our first visit to April's, I have had a few communications with Darrin via email to ensure I was doing it right and he was incredibly helpful and responsive every single time. This store is far superior to any other store! ...and their prices are absolutely competitive. This is the aquarium store to shop at!! You won't regret it.

In my opinion we need more Local Fish Stores (LFS). As a child growing up in the Lower Mainland the only fish stores I knew were LFS where the owners were hobbyist and knew about the fish with great advice. There are very few of those stores left and as far as my now decades in the hobby guides my understanding April’s is great store. In the new location they are working hard to improve and things are only getting better. I often travel to Seattle and impressed by LFS like Aquarium Coop, Aquarium Zen and Sierra Pets and as far as I am concerned April’s is as close to those experiences that you’ll find locally. As I work to add fish to my newest planted tanks April’s was the go-to for variety and selection and reasonable price. I bought enough fish so that they were delivered to … you can’t get any better than that.
