I spent one night here while walking up the coast. It was a real treat. The place is beautiful with lovely buildings, a walled garden to stroll in and a lovely view of the sea. Our welcome was very warm with a tour of the shared lounge area with a library, pool room, kitchen and honesty bar. Our room was warm and comfortable with a comfortable bed, well-appointed bathroom, sitting room and outdoor seating area. We did find the room a bit poorly-lit, but that may be great in mid-summer when you are trying to escape the sun. We were provided with a delicious breakfast, but the options for meals nearby were limited, especially for vegetarians. I'd suggest visiting the supermarket and using the kitchens provided. I hope to get back soon for a few days to relax and write.

Quinta do Monteverde is a gem! In a beautiful location just 5 minutes' drive from the sea the walled estate is simply gorgeous. Our room (the Patio) was not large, but full of beautiful furniture and very comfortable. The bathroom has modern fittings and is a good size. The breakfast buffet is served in the old winery building - again exquisitely furnished - and it has a wonderful selection of cheeses, meat, fruit etc plus fresh breads and cakes... Not to mention the fresh orange juice! Dona Fatima runs a superb establishment, ably assisted by Raquel and all the staff. Every one of them is willing to go the extra mile for the guests! We loved the swimming pool, but did not try the fitness room or the tennis courts. There is a well stocked "honesty" bar. You just have to write on your room's note pad what you took. Nice! If we ever come back to this area there is only one place we will stay!

As we drove through the wooden gates we felt like we'd time-traveled back to the 17th century albeit with 21st century appointments. The grounds are large and impeccably maintained with beautiful stonework lush vegetation and gorgeous flowers. The main house is spectacular while our two-story apartment with dining/living room full kitchen and master suite were a very welcome change from the cozy Porto B&B we'd left that morning. Simon gave us a thorough tour pointing out the common (game, honor bar) rooms the dining hall and the swimming pool. He continued to be very helpful during out two-night stay. An abundant breakfast is served in a stunning hall with period furniture. Our only regret: that our schedule didn't permit a longer stay!

Die Poolanlage ist sehr gut angelegt und entspricht den Vorstellungen. Leider ist der Tennisplatz nicht bespielbar und die Leihausrüstung ist desolat. Der Fitnessraum incl. Spa ist so gut wie nicht vorhanden. Wir wurden von Vanessa sehr freundlich empfangen. Die Gastgeberin haben wir nur einmal kurz gesehen. Am Ende des Urlaubs war diese nicht einmal für die Bezahlung der offenen Rechnung anwesend. Das Geld wurde hinterlegt. Im Großen und Ganzen ein schönes Anwesen, dass leider nicht unseren Erwartungen entsprochen hat.Die Unterkunft verspricht mehr als sie tatsächlich bieten kann.
