I do not leave reviews often, but Molly Darcy’s Irish Pub was such a disappointment! The location is perfect and I used to go there quite often in the past with my work colleagues and friends. It is always the same story - EXTREMELY rude waiters (shocking even for Viennese standards!), who not only demand you to pay for drinks/food after every round, but also directly ask you for a tip every single time. I am all for tipping the waiters but it should be voluntary as not everyone can afford tipping all the time. Moreover, asking (basically demanding!) for the tip in an arrogant way is just intolerable. The waiters were also making fun of our friend who tipped 1€ for a drink that was around 4€ (apparently it was too little) and who have previously that night tipped around 5€, despite the rudeness of both waiters. This is just ridiculous! One goes to Irish Pub to relax and have a good time with friends, but this is simply not possible at Molly Darcy’s.What a pity - the place itself is nice and the drinks are not bad either.

The pub was fully reserved for the evening but luckily we arrived early and were able to be seated. Food tasted delicious and was delivered in a reasonable time. Atmosphere was causal.

Regular customers since living in Vienna ten years; until now. Short measures of a pint of beer served twice. First time queried but the barman insisted it was a full 500ml. Second time, same query. The waitress guaranteed the measure was correct and brought a pint glass of water to illustrate the correct measure. When the head of the beer settled, the water glass was 10% more full. Waitress made out it was our fault, and stated that if we were indeed living in Vienna, we would know that tipping is customary. We asked for our money back, returned the short measures of beer, and will sadly not be returning

Love this place! Service, Food and Everything else Top Shelf! The staff is one of the best out there. The Cottage Pie, Fish and Chips were very tasty. Great drinks menu that has something for everybody.

THEY DON’T DESERVE YOUR BUSINESS! The staff are rude, totally blank you when you are trying to order and seem more interested in doing anything other than serving you. We didn’t get to order food because we would probably still be waiting to place our order the day after. There are far better pubs in Vienna where staff are friendly and happy to serve customers. Avoid this place if you don’t want to ruin your day.

So it was my second time in this pub. I hoped that after few years it will be as nice as it was than. It wasn’t. There was no information before, that you can pay by card from 15 (sic!) €. First of all it’s illegal acording to EU law, don’t let a client pay by card when he wishes. For me it looks like a pub wants to get as much money as it’s possible. And guess what. You have to pay immediately when they brought you your order. So, if you don’t have cash, and you want to spend nice evening with beer, you need to pay every time more than 15€ or order right away 3 big beers 😂 Second of all- transparency. I didn’t receive a bill. I asked a waitress to at least show me it. She did show me, but for less than second. From this point she was veeeery unpleasant. I’m more than sure, that we paid more (I didn’t want to pay a tip for such bad service). I also didn’t get card confirmation. Also illegal. Beer was good, nachos, which I was forced to ored also good. And I wannt to admit that only two waiterss made bad impression. There was also a waiter who was very kind and helpful. Saddly I won’t come back here next time. And I suggest you to pay attention and keep an eye on a bill.

Excellent service and food. It was very busy as most places in Vienna are but we got lucky and grabbed a table fairly quickly. They also had the world cup on TV which was a nice surprise compared to many other places that do not have this. Definitely recommend and will visit again.

The food is ok, fries are good. The beer is also really good, but the waiters are extremely rude. They try to rush you to order, to reorder, to pay and to leave 🙃 Don’t even bother to ask questions about the food, charging areas or whatever because the answer will be rude as well. Disappointed!!

One of my favourite pubs in Vienna for years (coming from a former bartender). Fantastic staff, high-quality food and great overall atmosphere. From regular live music gigs to various sports, the place has a lot to offer. It's also one of the best places in town for a pint of Guiness. Highly recommended.

Excellent service as always! A pleasure to be there. Good selection of ciders and beers. Also they have Guinness, what more do you want? A whiskey, bourbon or rye with that? They've got you.

A wee bit of a mix up with order but harmless. A good atmosphere between staff. Reasonably priced, not a skimpy order. I have no problem recommending.

The staff were so welcoming and nice. The prices of the meals were pretty standard however, the meal portions were so generous so overall we thought it was really good value. The food was very well-prepared and tasty. We had the cottage pie and chicken schnitzel. The dining area away from the bar was quiet and had nice decor. If we were in Vienna for longer we would've definitely revisited.

The fact that they asked the money right away while bringing the beers even without having ordering food or making us pay with the food just on the table before starting to eat is… awkward. Everything you order you pay it right away so you don’t reach the minimum needed to pay by card. However, good beer and food was ok.

Friendly service, very good beer on tap, I'm very solid selection of Irish and Scotch whiskeys. Scotch whiskeys. The fish and chips were top-notch and the wings were crispy and delicious. A gathering place for expats and English speaking tourists, it was comfortable and reasonable.

Stopped by for a few drinks, but decided to leave after the first due to initial impressions. We stood at the entrance as a waiteress smiled at us, walked away, and then ignored us entirely, so we decided to find our own seats and went up to the bar to order drinks. Ordered our first round of beers and was immediately asked to pay before taking a sip. Traveled across North America / Europe and visited dozens of bars and Irish pubs, and have never been asked to pay upfront. After asking to pay by card I was told that there was a minimum, but there is no way to achieve this minimum due to the need to pay after each order. The beer was good, but everything else made myself and my partner want to leave sooner than later. Probably can find better in Vienna.

The drinks and food were fine but the service could have been a bit better. At one point the waitress came by and asked our group if we wanted any other drinks which we said yes except one of my friends forgot to order which happens. My friend told the waitress he wanted something after all and she replied to the effect of I just asked you guys and if you wanted to drinks and proceeded with some snark comments. We all have bad days but my friend was clearly embarrassed and she just proceeded as usual. Also beware that there is a 15€ card minimum and you have to close out every each time you place an order.

It's nice, but it's not quite hit the sweet spot of an Irish pub abroad. Bockshorn has got the right atmosphere, bit it's too small. We need a pub that's the same size as this one but with the same atmosphere as Bockshorn

The worst client service ever, I’ve been there two times, the first the waitress counted drinks that we didn’t ordered, the second she was so impolite ! And it always the same one, lady with black hair in her 40-50, avoid this place. Pub in the first district and they don’t know how to talk to clients.

Sad that a Brit visits Vienna and eats in an Irish pub, but it was convenient for us, needing to eat earlier than usual and finding most restaurants pretty dead then. Anyway the service was great, the food was great and the atmosphere was lively.

  • 2/5 Runi R. 2 years ago on Google
Food is decent, beer is good. The issue comes when you have to pay, we were told that in order to pay with a card, you have to have consumed for minimum 15 euros. That's after we were told by a lady that works there, that we cannot pay with card at all and the bill was around 30 euros. So yeah, would not recommend this place unless you're really starving. 🙃

No matter where you go, there's always an Irish pub. And I'm so thankful! Great whiskey (even Jamison Black Barrel) and beer selection. Very good food. I recommend the Irish stew, which has just a touch of nutmeg.

The food is pretty good, but you have to pay for all of your drinks/food when they’re served. You can’t open a tab which is the ridiculous (and very un-Irish) 😅 You also have to pay for ketchup? I understand paying extra for cranberries when you get a Schnitzel, but having to pay for a little dollop of ketchup, and I mean a little dollop of ketchup, is mental. The Pub quiz was very hectic, and the sound system quality is poor. Staff are very friendly.

Really cool place, really has UK/Irish vibes. They have some nice dishes and a variety of beers and drinks. Its designed really nicely inside, and customer service was good, although its a bit weird that they ask you to pay for every round rather than bill you at the end of the evening

This is a nice authentic Irish pub if you want some good Irish beers and whisky. The burger and food is on par with other pubs in the Inner City of Vienna so nothing special there, just like the prices. In the past the waiters could be a bit tricky sometimes but this is not something I have encountered lately. But it's nice if you prefer a cozy pub and the outside sitting area makes it perfect for summer.

Great place to stop by for a drink with friends. They offer mostly pub food, at a reasonable price. Although the payment system is slightly unconventional (you need to pay after every single drink/dish and in cash, unless you spend more than 15€ or go to the bar personally), the service itself is quick and the waiters were also nice thus far.

Lovely bar, friendly staff. The guy behind the bar may well be some sort of a robot ninja. It was quiet when I came in and he was doing waiter and barman. Nobody had to wait for service either he is class or has a twin. Either way that man knows how to run an Irish bar. Plenty of seating and room. Lovely and warm too considering it's almost at freezing outside

An Irish pub in Vienna it is. Not too bad but also not too exciting. The staff is not too welcoming was my feeling but other people may feel different. Not one of my favorites.

This one star is just for very good food, it seems that only people from the kitchen are doing their job well. This place is overrated and I don't understand how did that happened. We experienced very bad service, waitress was completely arrogant, rude person who charged us even more without asking, even it's normally for us to give a tip. She did it without asking. If you have some questions, she will just ignore you. Overall impression that this is a place where hyenas are feeding on corpses. Poor poor service. They care only about the money and not about the real basic hospitality. Someone said in reviews that this is a trap for tourists, and really it is. They don't have enough stuff to clean the toilets for example, it was all wet and garbage everywhere. Tiles were very slippery and somebody could get hurt. Also we saw that some waitresses treat other stuff without any respect, like this place is slavery house. Who knows what is even happening inside.

😐 The pizza was so good! I’d definitely recommend the place for the people around the area. The atmosphere and the waitress were too nice. The only negative thing about it was the waiting time for someone to come and take my order, and again for someone to bring me the check.
