This hotel has many positive reviews online, and I can't quite understand why. Firstly, most rooms seem to have malfunctioning AC, running nonstop and making the room extremely cold. Refer to attached images – AC blows cold air onto the bed and table. Regardless of activity, you'll feel chilly. Moreover, controls can't be adjusted manually as buttons are defective. Secondly, staff is unfamiliar and has a poor attitude. During my 7-day stay, I was moved to 4 different rooms without apology. Thirdly, rooms are outdated. Despite being a scenic hotel, the view from the window is limited. Not worth staying for the view. I've stayed in many 5-star hotels in Vienna, and this one's facilities and service pale compared to 3-star hotels. I'm disappointed. What is most unacceptable is that the staff at this hotel entered my room without my permission.

Nice hotel, but nothing extraordinary. Shower is uncomfortable to use, cause water goes everywhere. Equipment is okay. Breakfast and view are really good here 🥰

We stayed at the SO/Vienna Hotel recently for 3 days. The staff were incredibly welcoming and kind. We were celebrating a momentous occasion and they really made it special. The location is fantastic. I would definitely return or stay at a sister hotel in another country if the opportunity came up.

Probably one of the most stylish hotels I've ever stayed in. The impressive contemporary decor in the public areas is equalled by the minimalist, sleek and spacious rooms. SO/Vienna's eighteenth floor restaurant and bar offers an absolutely breathtaking panoramic view of the city-scape. The amazing breakfast is served here too (for me this was one the highlights of my stay), what a way to start the day with this unrivalled vista. The service was five-star too and I cannot fault any aspect of my stay. I can't wait to visit again.

The experience was great from the moment I checked in with Sofia. She was very friendly and informative. The hotel is beautiful and always had my camera out. I was given a gorgeous and spacious room with view of St. Stephan's and was able to witness the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets from my room. I had breakfast only once as I thought it was overpriced but it was excellent (many healthy options.) The gym is big and complete with machines for every muscle group and the spa is a great place to relax after a day of sightseeing. Location is great as you can walk everywhere and the metro to Schönbrunn castle is just across the bridge from the hotel. I would definitely stay here again next time I'm in Vienna.. Thank you SO/ Vienna team.

The best breakfast ever had at a hotel. The loft has breathtaking view to the saint Stephen cathedral. Rooms super modern with excellent design.

We truly enjoyed our stay at SO Vienna. Hotel located very close to the Old Town, just across the river. It’s a new, modern building with underground parking for guests. Room makes great impression- it’s all white, spacious, with open bathroom and panorama of the city. Bed was amazingly comfortable. Upon request, I received an ironing set. Great stay!

Only regret I have is staying only one night here. We had an amazing stay with my wife . Thanks for making our anniversary unforgettable with everything the team provided. What makes a hotel good beside all facilities is the people who is working there. Staff is very friendly and nice. Don’t know where to start , dinner in first evening was fabulous, kudos to chefs there especially we loved the sour dough bread very much . Deserts were also 5* Breakfast itself was with a very rich menu, hard to select and top quality. Nothing to complain at room and views both from the room and loft was like a dream I am sure we will see each other again! Thanks team SO/!

I have stayed here between ten and fifteen times for work. The SOVienna goes above and beyond every single time. The breakfast is superb and has a fabulous view. The spa is excellent. But the service is what makes this hotel stand out. They make every effort to make every interaction so pleasant and accommodating. I am always sad to leave. I look forward to visiting Vienna someday with my family. We will definitely stay at the SOVienna.

We stayed for only one night, but it was a perfect experience! The rooms were super clean, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the view was amazing. You have to check out the rooftop bar at night for drinks. Special thanks to Sofia from the reception who handled our requests and checkout wonderfully!

Their staffs are very accommodating from the receptionists, cleaners, up to their restaurants, etc. All of them are greeting you with a smile. This is one of the best factors that make our stay a memorable one. The location of the hotel is accessible to all and the views are amazing! A highly recommended hotel to all travelers who wants luxurious experience / stay. All the best for Sofitel Vienna!

Stephanie was very friendly and professional. She gave a great impression and we found the hotel generally exceptional. The dining area upstairs was amazing. The rooms were clean and quiet and the bar staff near the reception were so kind and welcoming, thank you.

Great hotel, location and service. Hotel room is big, plenty of space for two ppl. Clean and two robes and slippers are provided. Mirror everywhere and plenty of storage. The view is excellent! Whole side Vienna which was a treat :) Staff were great, very attentive and helpful. They really go beyond. Always Willing to help. The breakfast though was a bit of a mishap. Ordering coffee or hot water took 10-15mins and any hot food was to be place with the staff which was always a miss. Sad as many look forward to it but it becomes little annoyance to start your day. But the cold food offer was great plenty of options. Overall experience can be improved but great!

This is a really mixed one. Allocated wrong room on check in and told no other rooms were available for that night - however room changed the following day to a very nice room on the 17th floor with stunning views. Bar on the 18th floor is exceptional in terms of layout and views, but serves absolutely terrible cocktails.

  • 5/5 Lone Thorsgaard B. 6 months ago on Google
A very well located hotel in the hart of Vienna, with very high service an an excellent view over the city center. Breakfast restaurant on the 18th floor gives an even better view. Visit the same restaurant for dinner and get a sublime experience food and wine are matched with great success and the staff are doing all too make the evening special.

I enjoyed my stay at at SO Vienna. The room was very good with a nice view. The food was excellent for both breakfast and dinner. It is close to the metro station.

Hotel was in a great location. Lobby, fitness area, and bar were beautiful, especially the views from the top floor bar. The free non alcoholic beverages and coffee in the mini bar were a nice touch. Room was well designed and spacious BUT paint was peeling in the shower, window shaders didn’t work (2 out of 4 were jammed) and I watched a light fixture fall from the ceiling in the business center. Overall pleasant experience but it could be touched up.

One of the best hotels I have been in Europe. Although slightly on the pricey side, the brand new amenities and the outstanding/professional servics was completely worth it. The front desk workers are all trendy and smart, but super hospitable at the same time (a rare treat in German speaking countries...). The place is also very conveniently located near a subway, shopping districts, and the tourism stuff. I might sound like I'm trying to promote this place, but if you check out any of my other reviews, you can tell I am nowhere from this area lol I truly enjoyed this hotel, and would highly recommend.

This could be one of the worst 5 star hotel experience amongst all that we have stayed (we’ve stayed in Emaar / Anatara / Sacher) for past 2 weeks but there are some commendable staff that we appreciate. 2 stars for Porter Ninat and Cocktail staff each Let’s do start with the good points Porter Ninat took a lot of initiatives from the start of our trip to the end helping us with the luggages. We were also very warmly welcomed at the cocktail bar with good services and really delicious cocktails served! Mood was really good and overlooking stephplatz scenery There were a few friendly reception staff but what pissed me great time is one of the staff. My bad / ignorance that I have called the room service for mineral water , assuming that it is complimentary. However on the other end of the call, NO initiatives was taken to inform us that water was chargeable because I called the room service. 3 big bottles of water was sent to my room with a bill , 8 euros each . I told the service staff who brought the bottles up that I wasn’t aware there’s charges and he gave me a “I have brought this up you can’t be rejecting them “ face. I ended obligingly paid for ONE. Not feeling really good about this whole incident as we went to the supermarket to get 3 big bottles of mineral water at 0.33 euro for each! So after dinner I went back to hotel and feedback to the reception staff. The reception staff is not the best person to service her customer. She was curt, sacarstic , defensive and totally miss the point. She kept saying because I called the room service and hence there’s a charge. I told her yes no doubt my fault in calling the room service , but there is LACK OF INITIATIVE AND ZERO COMMON SENSE for the staff to even inform / remind the guest that there’s charge on the water over the phone and that it will be complimentary - if I call the reception instead) Reception staff was super defensive kept repeating and insisted because I called the room service. Okies then pardon my ignorance and hope guests remember to cal RECEPT instead of ROOM SERVICE for free water) Also she was sacarstic saying that if i order alcohol and soft drinks from room service there’s charges . Like duh. I am ignorant but I am not stupid or cheapo House keeping also not the best, only one towel was replenished (missing one more towel) on 2nd day after we asked for make up room. And once again, they ASSUMED my half used sachet treatment mask was meant to throw away when I put in the shower. Not very nice move.housekeeping took >10 mins to come with the shortfall of bathe towel Lastly the shower knob sucks. You need great strengths and certain angles - not soapy hands to manovere it. It does make me don’t look forward to bathing every time I step into the bathroom.

My stay at So/ Vienna was a short one for 3 nights but I definitely would stay here the next time I come to Vienna. The hotel is excellent in all regards. Excellent location Excellent and helpful staff Very comfortable room with all essential amenities and mini-bar :) Prompt and good housekeeping services Smooth and quick Check-in / check-out process The hotel is well maintained, no complains whatsoever. The rest-bar Das Loft was simply amazing. Nothing less than 5🌟 for SO/Vienna

This is probably a frud hotel, so be AWARE!!!! During a vacation in the lovely city of Vienna, I stayed at the hotel for four nights. My credit card was charged hundreds of euros for services for which I have no idea what I was charged. The hotel's customs service has not responded despite numerous attempts. Therefore, the best case scenario for this hotel is either it has the worst customer service or it is just a fraud hotel.

The restaurant on rooftop has a beautiful view and the breakfast are good. But be cairful to avoid the weekend because the services are horrible on Saturday and Sunday. I slept there with my husband for 5 days. The hotel is good but definitely not amazing, we missed lots of details (light which is not working, 1 towel for 2 persons, jacuzzi broken…) too bad.

The staff were so helpful and friendly. I had one of the all white rooms. It was bright and modern, yet had blackout draperies for sleeping. Apparently, there are all white, all gray, or all black rooms in this hotel. Most of the places I wanted to visit were within a 20-30 minute walk. Perhaps if I were on the inner side of the canal, it would have been a wee bit easier. But the overall conditions made up for any 5-10 minute additional walk. I felt very safe when walking alone. I would recommend this hotel!

The breakfast in the rooftop restaurant is probably one of the best in the world. The Hyatt Mexico was already quite stunning but a step below the Sofitel Vienna. Even if you have not booked a room in the hotel if you have the chance to have a breakfast with this fabulous view and a first-in-class staff you will remember it your whole life.

The So/Vienna hotel is a really hip, chic and slick hotel just a stones throw from all of the action in Stephanplatz as well as an ideal location to the outer ring of the city which is helpful when wanting to visit the city’s sights. The rooms are really modern and designed to be both open plan if required and closed off if not. The amenities were great, especially all of the male and female specific items, and the washing amenities. The shower is really powerful (although there is a gap in the door which means the water leaks which is a little annoying, but nothing a cleverly placed towel can’t fix). The bed was comfortable, quite firm. The mini bar is included within the room and has things like snacks and soft drinks topped up daily which was useful. The bar at the top of the hotel is amazing - great music and vibes, and the views are incredible. The staff are really friendly, and although there were occasions that things we’d requested took a little bit of time to be delivered to the room - that was forgiven as the rest of the service was great - always attentive whenever walking in or out of the hotel, extending our check out time. I’d highly recommend staying here when visiting Vienna.

Amazing location, impressive modern rooms, helpful staff. Easy access to public transportation and walking distance to few Vienna attractions. View from the hotel was amazing, bar downstairs staffed with an great bartender that made amazing drinks, many with own imagination. Upstairs Das Loft also a great place for a cocktail at night with great views of the city.

Excellent hotel with large and clean rooms and great view over the Danube to the old city. Quick and simple check in and check out. Great breakfast served by polite staff. A great overall experience.

We only went to the bar on the top floor so I my review doesn’t include the hotel per se. We were warmly welcomed into the ONE OF A KIND, inspired room. The service was very good and the cocktail menu delightfully creative. Prices are reasonable. The view: Stunning The design of the room: GOBSMACKED

At check-in, I was charged significantly more than the stay, but that was ok as the hotel always take a security deposit which is returned at check-out. However, at check-out, I was asked to pay in full for the stay. I insisted I had been charged significantly at check-in, to which the staff refuted, saying no money was taken. I eventually had to pull up my bank statement and take the stance that I would not make a new payment, and the stay charge should be taken from the charge made at check-in. I was asked to provide my card again, but to prevent any charge from being made, I placed a limit of £1 for the merchant (Sofitel), and to my amusement, the staff tried to charge the total amount to my card at that instance. I was frustrated and said I’ll only pay the charge presented if the amount charged at check-in was returned and credited to my account. To cut the story short, I eventually ended up paying the charge and have basically paid more than twice the agreed hotel rate. Great hotel, but if you want to stay, budget for 2.5x the nightly hotel price. Never encountered a process like this, and I am fortunate to be extremely well travelled. This experience completely ruined what was generally a great stay.

Service is wonder, very fast and attentive. Food is always on point. Having the view over the city is one of the best thing at So/Vienna. I would recommend it to everyone who loves see the city 360 degree by day or by night a stunning view.

The rooms of the hotel are very good, the general decoration is also very good and the service is top notch. I recommend the hotel! On the other hand, we entrusted our Christmas lunch to the restaurant of the hotel So Vienna where we spend our stay in Vienna. What a disappointment! Except for the small soup as a starter which was very good, the rest of the food was not interesting, often too salty or too dry or even not good. Nothing to do with our meal of Friday evening which was delicious. Maybe it was another chef for the occasion...? Despite a very good service, I will not recommend this restaurant for Christmas dinner...

Spa & gym were very nice almost no people in the morning, food was good. But staff was a little confusing about open times, I called 3 times and got 3 different answers. Website was not updated and my reservation was not saved even though I called 2 days before. Still very good experience, definitely recommend!

Rooms is nice and clean. Service, I want to give ful ++l remark for the service. SO/ Vienna patiently responding my request to receive the FedEx package and standby early in the morning when I retrieve the package. Location is strategic to central and public transportation (few minutes walk to U station and tram).

We had a 3 night stay here, and what can one say except WOW! Room: The room was sterile, and modern - which we liked a lot. There was a huge bathtub which we appreciated. Service: All staff were very nice, the cleaning in the room was immaculate. Breakfast: Great breakfast with breathtaking views. Also, there was a (mostly) proper gym with free weights and a squat rack which was much appreciated! Much recommended a visit!

I stayed here for three nights. Check-in and check-out was quick and friendly. The room spotlessly clean, quite spacious and painted totally white. Lots of mirrors gives a feeling of extra space. There was a bathtub and separate shower, in which there was a low shelf on which it was possible to sit if needed. Adjecent to the desk and bath tub there were practical side- boards. The king bed had a nice firm mattress and was very comfortable. Housekeeping was very friendly and helpful.

5 stars experience from the beginning to the end. The front desk was very friendly and welcoming.. check in was very easy and smooth. Room is amazing, very nice and cleaned ! View from the 15th floor is unforgettable. Definitely staying here again next time in Vienna. Highly recommend.

If you're looking for somewhere to stay in Vienna whether its a short or long stay, I would 100% recommend SO/ Vienna within a heartbeat. The staff are very professional and welcoming from the start to the finish of my stay. Breakfast was really amazing! The cocktails were astonishing and the view.... is just breath-taking. I originally booked the so cosy room but upgraded to so comfy room and I would definitely recommend this with a view of the cathedral. I couldn't thank the staff enough for making our stay an incredible and comfortable stay. Thank you again.
