Super modern, futuristic museum - but may not be for everyone. This museum is state of the art when it comes to technology, interaction and stimulating your various senses. If you are into wine, this is a great place to learn and improve on your wine knowledge. But the entry price is steep, especially when there is no temporary exhibition. The museum’s permanent exhibition is rather compact being distributed on a single floor, but the depth of audio / visual content can keep you engaged for an entire day if you so wish. An added bonus is the included wine tasting (1 glass) on the highest floor with a nice panoramic view, lots of wines to choose from and good sommelier assistance.

Great experience! It’s expansive and takes a little getting used to the way the interactive experiences work and navigating the crowds. Going there when it’s less busy would have been better. We tasted a wine upstairs and maybe would have chosen differently if we were informed ahead that there’s only one taste per person. We wrongfully assumed we might be able to taste a few with our ticket. Overall a fun and educational time!

This place is definitely worth a visit! It was so informative & interesting. Fun for most ages but might be a bit boring for young kids. We used our city pass to get in for free before 12 and received a free glass of wine at the end. You could easily spend a 4-5 hours in there but we only stayed for just over 2. The smelling area and interactive factor to it all is just amazing! We were extremely impressed!

Pretty short walk from the tram station to the museum. We first got in, scanned our tickets at reception and then everything was sorted. We were able to put our backpacks in the storage area. Some seating around the bottom to just chill in before going around. There is a ton of things to do in the museum. You first can start with a aerial video of winery, then can see the regions where they highlight differences and how they make the product. Then all different parts from the type of grape, to the different finished products to more movies and videos as well as a smelling section. Overall great museum, we spent 2 hours but you can definitely spend 3-4. There is also a nice balcony where you get your tasting too.

This impressive encyclopedic museum dedicated to viticulture, wine making and the associated culinary traditions is a must see for any oenophile who finds her/himself in the city of Bordeaux. Nearly 20 impressive multimedia powered exhibits are featured in the museum's permanent exhibit. All major languages are supported. While this museum proudly showcases France's accomplishments, visitors from other wine making powerhouses will not feel under represented. This is a "go at your own pace" experience. We spent three hours including the complimentary tasting on the highest floor followed by a visit to the wine store and gift shop. There are multiple dining options available on site from a simple cafe to a full service restaurant. If those don't appeal there is an impressive food hall across the street. Very ample parking is found in the structure adjacent to the food hall. Those staying in downtown Bordeaux might consider a walk to this museum or taking one of the many trams running along the river front. A visit to this museum might be recommended for those spending more than three days who seek information complimentary to their winery tours.

It really is a masterpiece of a museum. When I was told the majority of stuff was on the second floor, I didn't think it could be that great. I was wrong. They pack so much into their space, but with enough room where you aren't crowded with the other people. I went midday on a Sunday and was able to get through in a little over three hours before I enjoyed my glass of wine on the eighth floor. The coolest part was the sensory exhibit where you can smell all the different aromas that might come up in your wine tastings. It was really nice. The bottle shop is also mesmerizing with all the selections. They really did this right. I used the city ticket and was able to get free access and a glass of wine, so if you're visiting the city, I highly recommend that!

easy five stars. Nice experience for wine noobs and easy to follow self guided tour. The views at the top with the free tasting is icing on the cake. Ticket is 22 euros per person and we booked ours online. You could do it one day before if you like - but ours was probably because of low season that we got it quite easily. Anyway, the only negative is the lack of nice souvenirs at the shop.

A good place to start learning about wine and its general history. However, I found that the information provided was too superficial and simplistic, perhaps made for all publics. The audio guide takes you through every display and is easy and intuitive to use. The wine tasting at the top was a nice complement to the visit. From the eighth floor of the museum you can enjoy a beautiful view of Bordeaux.

Really interesting place. Very interactive exhibition on all things wine based. Even fun stuff for kids. Restaurant closed at 4 when we were there unfortunately, but the glass of wine on the too floor was really fun and the wine tasted amazing.

Amazing museum, learned a lot of bordeaux region ands its wines. But also about other countries and more. The exhibition is very intriguing and interactive. All your senses will be tested. Finally, with the standard ticket you get a wine tasting at the top of the building. This reminds me, the design is incredible and well thought.

The building itself is quite emblematic. Inside you can learn everything related to wine. I would say it’s the must go attraction in Bordeaux. During the visit you are allowed to taste a wine as well. You can spend a great time visiting this place.

Pros: kid friendly, very educational, interactive, small enough to do in 1.5 hours (if rushing a bit), but still enough to keep you entertained. Cons: it’s a bit of sensory overload, a LOT to take in within a little space, you pick and choose so more than likely you will not get to it all, the flow of it is a little disjointed with the open footprint of wander where you’d like. The tasting at the top is really quite enjoyable with the views. Wish we had more time, but this definitely feels like a museum one can return to more than once.

We came to La Cite du Vin on a Sunday afternoon. No queue is required and we paid €22 per pax for the ticket. The ticket includes a tour to the museum and a glass of wine at top floor, whereby you can have a sip of wine while enjoying the city view. You will get an earphone and an audio guide at the entrance and the information of each station is informative and helpful. Highly recommend to visit if you are in Bordeaux.

Worth a visit. Audio guide needs improvement (without the audio guide the visit is useless, since many exhibitions are activated by the handset), but otherwise a good exhibition, covering wine related topics from all over the world. The glass of wine at the end and view from the top is a good way to round off the visit!

Great attraction in Bordeaux. Very detailed explanations on the history and implications of wine across the centuries. The interactive part of the museum is really well thought, and the audio-guide system works perfectly.

Unique, unusual, very interesting. Buy tickets for sensory experience ahead of time as they sell out quickly! Regular entrance can be bought on a walk in basis during non peak tourist season, it also includes complimentary glass of wine and entrance to the viewing platform. If you love wine and want to know more about it, this museum is for you. The gift shop is interesting too

I honestly did not find it that unique with just a lot of videos about wine shown in a large room. However the contents are overall pretty interesting. There is not a direction suggested for the visit which generated some confusion in my case. The building itself deserves a visit, the view from the terrace not really as it’s not that high and far from the city center. I enjoyed the wine tasting at the end. Compared to other museums in the city is quite expensive (20 euro)

This is my second time at the Cité du vin, and it was even more enjoyable the second time. There’s so much to see - the experience really does occupy a good three hours so you absolutely get your money’s worth. The exhibition is super interesting, with lots of videos and interactive aspects that keep you learning and enjoying the whole way through. There was even a new part of the exhibition that I didn’t see last time (I last went 3 years ago), which shows that they take the time to continuously evolve their offerings. When you’re finished, you can go up to the top of the building and enjoy a glass of wine and the beautiful view of Bordeaux! The staff will help you choose the right wine for your tastes, which is a really nice gesture. The Cité du Vin is a great experience for all and I 100% recommend visiting if you’re in Bordeaux!

Booked to do the wine tasting class and the main exhibition. The wine tasting class was in French with an English audio guide which felt as if I could have probably done it by myself. The main exhibition was exceptional. So immersive and interactive. An area designed for everyone and about every topic related to wine. Would highly recommend the main exhibition.

Great wine museum in Bordeaux with lots of information and history of wine and wine making. 22 euro per person for adult include the museum ticket and 1 glass of wine tasting on the 8th floor over looking Bordeaux city and the river. Great interactive experience with visual and audio guide for different languages. The interactive iPhone experience is friendly and easy to use.

A wine museum worthy of Bordeaux’s reputation. The exhibition packs everything you may need to know about wine and presents it in an interactive and refreshing manner. The entrance fees are on the pricier side but going through the presentation, you’ll come to understand why. Not to mention you get a complementary glass on the top floor with a view. Easily accessible by tram and worth a visit.

Wonderful done. A lot of work and tech put into this project. They have awesome devices you take with you and you go at your own pace. Pick from a number of languages. So much history and information to be learned about. The wine and view at the end was a nice touch.

What an amazing place for wine lovers, such an amazing designed building stands out across Bordeaux and is a real must on your visit. The museum is so modern and interactive with 3D images and sounds in each section, telling the story of wine from start to finish, you can even answer some interactive questions to find your wine, that suits you. The rooftop is totally stunning with amazing views.

Had been recommended to me by family and I thought why not even if I am not a big wine expert. I can safely say I will come back to visit anytime I am in Bordeaux. One of the most fascinating and best museum I have ever been too. I have been recommending it to all my friends, some visited and were as fascinated as I was.

Absolutely worth the visit. We found the museum super informative and really interactive - we aren't museum people, but were super engaged the whole time. The glass of wine to finish on the top floor was a great way to end.

The price is a bit steep... But the best thing was that the museum was very interactive... You get to smell fragrances, and animated storyline videos... Other than that, it was mostly videos. It wasn't the type that brought you into the wine cellar and showing tools used in the olden days to grind grapes type, equipment used, the traditional way of making wine etc... So it was just more modern understanding of making wine from different countries... The view from the top while sipping the wine is also a highlight

If you have a slightest interest in wine, definitely worth visiting. Everything explained from the beginning up to the future. Also, enjoy a glass of wine after the visit without extra cost. Note: takes about 3-4h to view the full museum. Even very enjoyable for kids as swell as

A must-see in Bordeaux. An incredible wine museum, interactive and very well organised to offer a perfect trip in all the aspect of wine. Free admission ticket if you have Bordeaux City Pass (in the morning, before 12). Amazing piece of modern architecture as well! Highly recommended!

Plan more time here! I could have stayed there another couple of hours. Very interesting and interactive museum, all senses involved. I particularly like the exposition about smell and colour of wine. Asking questions there is a lot of fun.

Totally worth the money. We bought our tickets from getyourguide and had a really fun time at the museum with interactive gadgets. We tried a glass of wine - made in Bordeaux at the 10th floor and the view was perfect.

Iconic landmark building, the wine shop inside looks very artistic. Worth a visit, it’s easily accessible via tram but if you come by car it’s not easy to find a parking place nearby.

The museum was very informative in wine history and all that. The smelling of different things were the most interesting. They offer a glass of wine for tasting on the top floor. Overall great experience

Just a great museum for an expensive price. BUT IT IS WORTH IT! If you ate interested in everything around wine, tgis is the right place for you. The exhibition is huge and modern made. The Cafe can be better. Another topic which should be add is the composition of wine with chocolate. Really recommend if you visit Bordeaux!

This place was packed on a rainy day! It was a bit too crowded for me to appreciate fully, but the exhibits are well done with the audio guides. One glass of wine on the viewing deck is included. Boat bus stop is around the back of the building and opens only once it’s time to board.

  • 5/5 Maria G. 7 months ago on Google
What a great museum. I think it’s must visit when in Bordeaux. It could be fun for kids too. You can easily spend 2.5-3 hours. Also it’s possible to buy combined ticket with tasting Emerson’s experience which was fun as well. The Belvedere observation deck is nothing special and drink is small , not a standard glass portion.

This establishment is a must-see for any wine enthusiast. The museum is spacious and classy, and offers a great learning experience for visitors. The exhibits are well-organized and informative, and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I highly recommend a visit to this establishment.

Was kind of confused if worth visiting initially due to debatable reviews and recommendations from other Google local guides profiles. Still confused if I can suggest it. If you know nothing about the wine making then go for it. If you know pretty basics, still go, you will get some value. If you know more than a few basic concepts of wine making, avoid as you would be disappointed. Kids from 6-7 years old might enjoy this museum, so that’s another factor to consider. We got the opportunity to try two wines at the end as we were a couple. The wines we chose were slightly above average but that might be subjective to our tastes and experience. The view from the top was nice. The entire museum exhibits are mostly interactive video content as others have described. Each visit opt was its own headphones to join the listening of the interactive video. Still the video was informative in a few cases. Mostly if you knew only the basics (prior to your visit). However, in other cases the content felt slightly repetitive. Overall we easily spent 2 hours and we don’t regret visiting, however we still consider it on the pricey range. Should it be cheaper might had been better recommendation. NOTE: there are free lockers for luggage and backpacks - it is a very convenient service if you visiting the museum or spent time nearby. Accessing the lockers does not require having necessarily a ticket ;).

Really great place, even interactive. I would definitely recommend coming here. They also have a wine tasting experience, we didn't get to do it as there were no spaces left so I would recommend buying tickets in advance as it would have been a nice experience. You could be here for at least 4 hours so I would advise you to arrive early so that you can still view the city after

This building is just a piece of work in itself. It is a bit pricy but worthy. The content is very technological and the final part of enjoying a glass of wine with a stunning view of the city ...

Great way to learn about wine a d the history of wine making in the Bordeaux interesting. Very interactive so good for a family. Visually stimulating architecture. Well worth a visit.

  • 5/5 Spencer L. 10 months ago on Google
I was able to learn so many things here. I have never been to a museum that was interactive. Also, being handed a phone that I could walk arond with that would explain everything to me was the coolest thing. Plus it included a glass of wine! And, I did the sensory wine tasting. It was pretty good but I had some chatty people in the group that sort of killed the vibe. All in all, this is a must visit if you want to learn about wine.

  • 5/5 Chris C. 9 months ago on Google
Very informative and comprehensive exhibition about how wine is made, it’s history and how to taste it. Modern and high tech exhibits with an included audio guide. It takes a few hours for the main exhibition and there is also a sensory tour available. The tickets include a glass of wine on the roof afterwards with nice views along the river

  • 5/5 徐瑞智 2 years ago on Google
Very informative and the exhibits are also highly interactive. You can play and “sense” the exhibits through many ways. However, since you need to wait for others to finish their turns, it’s better to avoid weekends. Otherwise, you need to wait or give up on some parts. For wine tasting, there is a wide selection of wines. They also provide non-alcoholic grape juice. Those drinking options are all premium products. But they didn’t sell wine in the souvenir shops.

A must do if you love wine or wish to understand more about wine! Amazing experience with audio and visual engagements for wines across the globe! Arriving in the afternoon about 2pm it’s the best as there were no lines. Pro tip across the road is the fancy food vendors, pop in there for a afternoon tea with some drinks!

A very impressive museum about the culture and history of wine but brought in a very interactive and interesting way so anyone can enjoy and learn. As part of the ticket entrance you receive headphones so you can enjoy the tour in other languages. I found the museum very innovative and progressed with the different technologies it offers to learn more about wine. The tasting at the 8th floor is great too with nice views of Bordeaux. Highly recommended!

  • 5/5 Michael E. 1 year ago on Google
I was pleasantly surprised how cool this place was. The exhibit area is compact but very cool. You could stay there for two hours or more easily. Pro tip is to go early or late as the compact space will fill up. We went around 10:30. The most crowded part of the museum was the terrace where everyone thronged for their complementary glass of wine.

  • 5/5 Theresa H. 1 year ago on Google
Give yourself several hours to truly immerse yourself in this fun interactive museum of the history of wine. There is so much to learn from the history of wine making to regions around the world that produce wine. It is worth the entrance fee and it’s fun for all ages. Don’t forget to go to the 8th floor where you have a panoramic view of Bordeaux and can taste the wines. This is a must experience for wine enthusiasts!!
