Eklo
is
an
economical,
clean
base
for
visiting
Bordeaux
city
centre.
It
is
a
20
min
walk
or
simple
tram
ride
over
the
bridge
to
the
main
town.
Potential
guests
should
be
advised
that
all
rooms
are
accessed
from
external
walkways
with
no
internal
hallways
as
you
find
in
a
usual
hotel.
Many
rooms
are
accessed
from
external
walkways
on
the
ground
floor
just
beside
the
road.
We
didn’t
feel
particularly
comfortable
when
allocated
such
a
room
and
the
staff
kindly
allocated
us
an
alternative
on
the
first
floor.
The
room
was
basic
but
relatively
stylish
and
totally
functional.
There
was
however
a
long
fire
alarm
at
around
23:45
on
one
night
of
our
stay
which
was
not
turned
off
quickly
and
no
acknowledgement
of
this
lengthy
interruption
to
our
rest
was
made
by
the
hotel
team
for
the
remainder
of
our
stay.
We
found
this
a
little
disappointing
given
the
disruption
it
caused.
What
food
and
drink
we
had
at
Eklo
was
pleasant
and
there
appeared
to
be
a
diverse
menu
but
the
staff
ultimately
were
the
property’s
downfall.
There
seems
to
be
an
unnecessary
distinction
in
role
between
those
working
on
the
bar
and
those
working
on
reception,
despite
it
being
all
one
workspace.
Staff
were
unable
to
answer
hotel
related
questions
while
serving
a
drink
and
when
waiting
to
ask
a
hotel
question
at
the
hotel
desk,
staff
would
totally
ignore
you
if
they
were
unoccupied
but
on
‘drink
duty’.
Indeed
a
member
of
staff
summoned
his
colleague
to
the
hotel
desk
unwilling
to
venture
away
from
drinks
responsibilities,
this
colleague
took
an
exceedingly
long
time
to
appear
and
when
he
did
so
was
on
his
personal
mobile
and
then
proceeded
to
answer
an
inbound
hotel
call,
all
the
while
ignoring
an
in
person
customer.
Having
waited
over
10
minutes
for
no
apparent
reason
I
felt
it
rather
rude
for
the
unknown
inbound
enquiry
to
be
prioritized.
Eklo
is
good
value,
comfortable,
clean
and
trendy
and
simply
requires
a
little
greater
attention
to
customer
service
to
be
a
recommended
property.
