What a stunning location and place to visit, we arrived on a tuk tuk from the city to this old world war 2 based. A 100% sustainable location with all the outlets demonstrating the BIO products and still maintaining its history and memories from the past. Great selection of bars & restaurants with shops selling recycled products, including a trainers shop selling old recycled trainers for sale. It's really like walking back in the past, in the evening this place is a real party and lively place to be, fantastic use of old army base.

Superb place to visit. Some great shops to look in and great food and drinks. The area is completely self sufficient brewing its own beer and making its own produce. Really interesting and inspiring place.

This is such a cool concept. I don't know who came up with it, but congratulations and cheers to you for having a vision and bringing something constructive to life in a place that was probably previously not a very nice place to be.

My trip to Darwin was fascinating. I found myself totally captivated, from taking in the art, furniture and buildings, to reading about how rainwater is recycled for sanitary systems and urine is composted. Items are repaired or recycled, food is sustainable and locally sourced, and a number of shops explain the steps they're taking towards more sustainable practices. For example, the Veja store highlights the Veja x Darwin initiative, which collects used Vejas that cobblers repair and resell at discounted prices. If they can't, the shoes are recycled. If you're downtown, Darwin's slightly out of the way, but totally worth the trip. I took the river shuttle from Quinconces to Stalingrad, and then walked through the lovely Jardin Botanique to get there. If you take the same route on a hot day, I recommend mosquito repellent!

This is a beautiful urban eco-system that has a variety of stores. It was raining heavily when we visited, so some areas weren't available, sadly. We particularly loved the bookstore, which has a wide variety of books. The only thing I could fault was that there wasn't an English section, and everything was in French. The chocolate shop, bakery and the restaurant are also a must, if you're planning on visiting Darwin.

This was my favourite spot in the city. The atmosphere is awesome and the Xmas market gives a beautiful addition to the general vibe of this place. The indoor skatepark is honestly something all cities should have.

Interesting part of Bordeaux. Co-Working Spaces, Bio-Boulangeries and a skatepark. It seems like a very alternative place with a quiet and relaxing atmosphere.

Cool boho vibe relaxing place. It was quiet in January, but I can just imagine how buzzing is this place in a lovely summer day. Loads of quiet corners, comfortable sofas and benches for like-minded people to mingle or to read a book in peace. You can find there loads of all sorts of handmade things including tasty breads, pastry and a chocolate fountain

Great space, eco-respecting establishment, good beers, fresh baking, hipster workspaces, beautiful graffiti.

Very cool little marketplace and “live, work, play” ecosystem that looks like it was established within old warehouses/factories, and now has additional buildings going up to add to it. The food and drink is CRAFT, and the vibe is friendly, earthy, urban, hipster. Lots of graffiti, cool artwork and sculptures around. Pleasant people and a delicious cup of coffee, maybe a glass of local beer (there were 4-5 on offering). There is enough here to wander around for an hour or more, sit and enjoy the atmosphere. Enjoyed it and if you’ve ever been to Ponce City Market in Atlanta, this is very similar.

Really cool place. Lots of little shops and micro breweries / wineries plus a skate park amongst other things. Worth exploring

Just have been there for a short visit of the stores and general vibe. It was great. If I would have been a student here I would come here every day! Cozy vibe with delicious food and friendly stuff as well as facilities!

Darwin was a cool little neighborhood in Bordeaux. It’s a little off the beaten path, so budget extra time to walk / bus there. There are some very nice coffee & pastry options, some nice boutiques and some very very cool street art to admire. It shows ‘rough’ ….but is completely safe, clean, and approachable! The Veja store in this area is extremely cool. They re-condition shoes there, so you can get yours renewed or consider many other options they have in store at great prices. No pics of the Veja store though…. Sorry.

Went here on my last day in Bordeaux and it was such a nice way to end my trip. The place has really cool vibes and it's great for a weekend lunch with your friend and to hang out. It kind of me reminds me of Lx Factory in Lisbon. Wish I'd spent more time here but will definitely want to come back.

Amazing and unique place, you can find there a lot of cafes, some clothes shops, skate park and flea market. Even if you don't want to buy anything just go there to have a look

Very creative, cool and fun hub where you have bars, pastery, coffee shop and also recreational activities to do. Definitely worth exploring!

  • 5/5 Sunny G. 1 year ago on Google
Eclectic, creative and fun, this community hub offers decent food and drink offerings, art, homewares, clothing and even entertainment. Drop the kids off at the skate park and wander amongst the dilapidated structure and hangars. Marvel at art pieces while sipping on thick and creamy hot chocolate. Play pinball and chow down on some chicken. A short ride over the bridge into La Bastide area, Darwin offers cool, interactive and wonder all under one roof. Worth spending a few hours in this brilliant pocket of Bordeaux.

Thoroughly enjoyed our visit here, ingenious use of a derelict space. Loads to see and great use of old sofas and armchairs. Loved it.

Great place to hang out. A few shops, food, snacks, ice-cream, drinks and plenty of streetart
