It's intresting place to visit as an adult and for the family with kids. It has gathered old time tools and machine used in medicine and pharmacy from all over Lithuania. It's intresting for everyone not only doctors or pharmacist.

A must see! Never thought that we have such an interesting place. So many curious items. The museum is near the town hall. Inside you will find a complete reconstruction of the 19th - 20th century pharmacy. Museum was founded in mideaval building so there are lots of small spaces full of medical oddities from early ages to 20th century.

(Translated by Google) Everything seems to be fine, but it is a pity that in this museum only paintings. I would like more details that would help to get to know Čiurlionis' personality: photos, manuscripts, diaries, letter clippings ...

The most interesting museum I have ever been to. Just after coming in authentic building and friendly personnel meets you. Lots of exhibits dating from 1000 years old till ones of 20th century. The cost is also ridiculously low. Just 1€ for students and 2€ for adults. During the visit I was constantly narrated about history of medice and pharmycy which was much more interesting, than just reading information tables. Also even thought I am not pharmasist or doctor the museum managed to really engage me with lots of bizarre facts and stories. Truly big thanks for the dedicated staff. I recommend to visit this museum for anyone who is in Kaunas. Undoubtedly one of a kind.

Very interesting museum and guided tour. Museum is part of the Kaunas University of Medicine and holds large collection of medical instruments, tools, and displays. You can see also working pharmaceutical machinery and learn how the old time pills and medicines were made. In another room you can find pharmacist shop and dentist’s studio. Suosittelen kovasti kaikille joita vähänkin kiinnostaa lääketiede. Hyvin opastettu pieni museo.

The building itself is a sample of pure art-modern in Kaunas before WW2. Very autenthic restoration. Exposition of greatest Lithuanian symbolism painter and music composer M.K. Ciurlionis brings you to the feeling of unreal, fantastic wold of art of the edge between XIX and XX c. New exposition of Lithuanian art is opened

This little museum is very interesting. It's set up like an old pharmacy, with the customer facing shop, the area where medications were made, as well as medical instruments and chairs. Though honestly, the old time fire extinguisher might have been my favorite.

  • 5/5 Nazar L. 5 years ago on Google
I found this museum very cool. I didn't know much about Ciurlionis. However, after watching his paintings go and see usual paintings (they are presented in second floor) is really difficult. His style is fully dive to topic, find association about it and create satisfactory painting without any redundant detail. Even names of his work talks a lot of. Just consider: Eternity, Friendship, Truth, Thoughts, Night... . Must visit place if you want see pure art.

I'm giving this only 4 stars because modern art isn't to everyone taste. The museum itself is very good, well laid out, and has friendly staff. It is also well located and we were able to park on the street for amodest amount and still had time to explore around several other sites

(Translated by Google) Very great museum. The staff is nice and professional. Unfortunately, one "crystal" evokes unpleasant feelings: Today, 2020. August 14, at about 11 p.m. when I came to the museum, I wanted to buy a ticket (I collect tickets for various museums). A museum employee excused her for not being able to give a ticket for some reason, and offered to leave 5 euros (such a ticket price for an adult), inspect the exhibition, and pick up the ticket on departure. I was surprised that I am not the first visitor that day, the employee said with a smile that it was definitely not the first. So it is suspected that other visitors did not receive tickets either. Unfortunately, when I left the ticket office, there was another museum employee - a man - and I hardly would have proved to him that I had paid for the visit. I wish the museum staff all the best, but we should also wish honesty and responsibility. (Original) Labai puikus muziejus.

Very beautiful, mystical paintings by Lithuanias most famous artist. Deeply symbolic and moving, they are deceptively simple and have a profound effect on your psyche that has to be experienced to be believed. You must visit, you will take away an experience that will stay with you forever. His paintings speak of the essential Lithuanian soul, essentially pagan and spiritual at the same time.

(Translated by Google) Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis, one of the most famous Lithuanian visual artists and composers, a museum focusing on works of fine art, which also displays older Lithuanian art. The works of Čiurlionis, known for his ambiguous symbolist paintings, are on display in abundance. If you want to study each work in a little more detail, which is quite recommended, you should take a lot of time to visit. The museum building itself represents Lithuanian modernism. The Vytautas the Great War Museum is also located in the same building. The annexe, which features Čiurlionis' works, is also beautiful. (Original) Liettuan tunnetuimpiin kuvataiteilijoihin ja säveltäjiin kuuluvan Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis’n kuvataiteen teoksiin keskittynyt museo, jossa nähtävillä myös vanhempaa liettualaista taidetta. Monitulkintaisista symbolistisista maalauksistaan tunnetun Čiurlionis’n teoksia on esillä runsaasti.

It was not actually my favourite place. I was expecting more, but i've found some nice art pieces and the place was friendly. Also, they have a problem with the illumination system. In the first room i's hard to see the painting and it other rooms the there are some mistakes like: an oil portait is too high on a wall and the light reflection makes it impossible to understand the painting.

A must see for everyone interested in the subjects of history, pharmacy or medicine. It is one of the most interesting museums I've seen covering that subject. People working there seem very commited to what they are doing. The guides can tell you lot's of interesting stories related with the items displayed there. The musuem has a full reconstruction of a pharmacy of the 19th-20th century. Along with that, they have a display of belongings of prominent Lithuanian doctors, old X-ray equipment as well as a dental treatment workstation. Informative, interactive and without doubt worth your while.
