If you're wondering if THIS is the place you should go out to eat or not....there should be NO question! The owners of this place put more into their business than any other I've ever been to! (I don't visit chain restaurants.) The food, the service, the drinks, the atmosphere....you WILL NOT be disappointed!!!! Go! Go directly to BLUE! Do not consider another place! THIS. IS. IT. Go for a special occasion, for date night, for just because...it doesn't matter....the food will be *top notch* no matter what the occasion and you will be treated like royalty every single time! I have absolutely no idea what is written on their menu. Why? Because the specials are where's it at! Order anything Charles has on the special for the night, it will be amazing and definitely a limited item! Oh! And the crab soup of the day...chowder, corn, tomato, whatever it is, IT IS DELICIOUS!!!!!! Update: 04/22- STILL hands down THE BEST. 💯‼️

This place was recommended to us by a local BBQ place, and we knew we needed to try it. It was phenomenal. If you're looking for a unique seafood experience, this is it. The atmosphere and staff was amazing, but the food was to die for! I will definitely go back if we are in the area again.

You know you're in the right spot when you roll up 10 minutes before opening time and see a fair amount of folks sitting in their cars waiting for 4pm. And you really know you're in the right spot when you're gifted with complimentary Cajun shrimp canapes. One for every diner. Those delights were scrumptious!! I really loved the laid back atmosphere and the jovial camaraderie of the employees. I felt as if we were dining at a friend's house instead of first timers just now being let in on the best kept secret at Red Mill. I'm not a fan of Virginia Beach and wouldn't have even been this way had my family not decided to come up for a spur of the moment visit. After a visit to my favorite spot in Pungo, Jerrassic Park, my crew starting feeling hunger pains. Having a few picky eaters in my crew I let them find us a spot and after checking a few reviews we wound up here. Honestly, not being a seafood eater I wasn't sure this was the best place for me but the shrimp tempura called my name and off we went. This place left such an indelible memory that we'll probably go back. From the heavenly Hibiscus Martini, to the crunchy Tempura asparagus appetizer and Tempura Shrimp to those perfectly tiny sweet potato biscuits and apricot butter. My entire crew enjoyed their meals (even the picky eater) and the service was spot on. Definitely a spot worthy of another trip to VB.

Per a friend's recommendation, we drove about 40+ minutes to get to Blue. The drive was well worth it. As you can see per the pics, the food looked amazing. It all was well cooked and tasted GREAT. The staff was very friendly and really took care of us. We never had to wait on anything.....even with it being kinda crowded. One thing I REALLY liked is/was how the Chef actually walks around and talks to everyone. If you happen to try Blue, get there early. We got there when it opened at 4pm and when we left, there were a lot of folks waiting to get in. If this place was just a little bigger, it would be that much more awesome. Other than the size of the restaurant, this place ROCKS. We will definitely make that 40+ minute drive again and again.

I was skeptic being in strip mall but had 5 stars so I tried it. I'm so glad I did it is great seafood. Grilled fried or blackened and chef or owner or maybe does both chatted with us and opened door as we excited. Great experience.

Small cozy spot, seafood dishes were very fresh. Wait staff was excellent. Believe was the owner who came over to greet us with a complimentary shrimp appetizer. All around great local spot, will not disappoint!

The food here was great, the staff was friendly and timely. A great place to eat at a reasonable price. We absolutely love the place and strongly recommend to anybody interested in good food. The chef was very friendly and available to interact with as well.

Had my birthday dinner here on recommendations of a local friend of the family, and it was a great experience. I do recommend that you plan ahead as there was a 45 min wait, but it was worth it. The free appetizer was delightful and a nice surprise. Dinner was cooked to perfection and the seafood was very fresh. The cocktails were perfectly made. The keylime pie for dessert was amazing as well and had a side of strawberry jam as a twist. The wait staff were very attentive, and drink refills were on point. We even got the host to take a picture of our dinner and got the chef in it as well. Perfect night, I will definitely be back.

Our family of 5 recently visited and we'll definitely be going back! We ordered the seafood combo, belle haven, and the pork chop - everything was excellent! Cocktails were great as well. Our server Jenny was super friendly and attentive. One of the best restaurants in the VA Beach region... I highly recommend stopping in if you're in the area.

I can’t think of one single thing to say negative about my experience. The food was fantastic, the service was unbelievably good. Cheerful, attentive and friendly but very professional and the overall vibe of the place is positive and fun. I had the fried oysters and they were fresh, cooked perfectly and it was the perfect portion size.

We were looking for somewhere to eat on our last evening at the beach and based on reviews, we choose Blue Seafood and Spirits. What a great decision! Everything, from the cocktails to the apps, to the salads and main dishes were absolutely wonderful. Even the children’s menu is great! Our server was also awesome! The owner/chef/dishwasher 😁 came out to ask how everything was and then stopped by again thanking us for our business. If you are looking for great food and drinks and a friendly place, Blue Seafood & Spirits is the place!

Blue is one of my favorite restaurants for a special dinner. It is always consistently delicious and service is great. They open at 4 pm Tues-Sat and don't take reservations so we try to get there early. I love the Eastern Shore oysters, crabcakes and crab soup. It is a small and cozy restaurant. I definitely recommend!

This was our first visit to Blue Seafood but won't be our last. While waiting for our order, we enjoyed watching the TV screens showing underwater fish and turtles. How appropriate for a seafood restaurant! Our server was knowledgeable of the day's menu and friendly. The free appetizers were a nice touch. Prices on the wine list were reasonable for the quality of the wine. Our combo seafood (crabcake, flounder, scallops) was fresh and cooked to perfection. Enjoyed talking to chef Thomas after our meal Five stars across the board!

Amaing food. The blackened founder was a treat. Logan our waiter was great and I loved how the chef came around and handed out starters on the house.

You wouldn't think that you'd find food this good in a little strip mall restaurant, but Chef Charles and his team have built something special here. Visiting on business from AZ so eating at as many seafood places as I can find. This one is the best. It is worth the price point. Had the soup and blackened seafood combo- both excellent. Don't pass on the biscuits! Charles is often out front interacting with customers and sharing special food and drinks. Bridget did a great job making wonderful cocktails behind the bar. Skip the tourist traps. This is where you want to go for a quality meal and overall great experience.

There wasn't a single thing to be found wrong with any part of this experience. The staff is friendly, attentive and knows their stuff. The food is honestly the best I've had in a long time. The first thing I ate of my seafood combo was the vegetables and I didn't know a green bean could taste so good. What an excellent start to a meal that only kept getting better. If you enjoy fresh seafood cooked to perfection this is a must try restaurant. The whole family was so happy we made the decision to stop in. They really have something special at Blue seafood & spirits.

I booked a weekend in VA Beach for my wife’s birthday. She specifically wanted seafood. I did a search on seafood restaurants in VA Beach and this place easily had the top rated reviews. I selected this place for our dinner and It did not disappoint! At first you may be skeptical as you first get there as it isn’t a large place and easy to pass by. It truly is a hidden gem! We got there and was immediately put on a waiting list was told it may take 30 minutes but it took about 15 minutes to get seated. They were packed which is generally a very good sign. Our waitress (Jenny) was at our table in a few minutes. She gave us great service always refilling our drinks before we ever even asked. We both put in order for the same seafood combo. Now I have to say we are trying hard to be as keto friendly on our diet as possible but we did splurge some here and if you have to splurge make it worth you while and we did truly feel it was worth it. We put in an order for appetizer Fried Green Tomatoes with Pimento Cheese. I wouldn’t have ever put the two together but it was one our favorites of the evening. Note: nothing here was bad. We had a hard time selecting our favorites of the dishes we ate. We also ordered a bowl of crab soup made with roasted tomatoes. This is another dish we wouldn’t have ever put together but it was also very very good. We both ordered the broiled seafood combo that has Scallops, catch of the day fish Flounder, and a Crab-Cake. All three of them were good and another hard choice as to which was our favorite. We chose the crab-cake 1st because you usually don't get a lot of crab-meat in a crab-cake when you order one and they were both loaded with crab, followed by the scallops, and the flounder. All were amazing! I decided not to order mashed potatoes or a sweet potato but opted for a double helping of vegetables. I could have just eaten those vegetables and could have been happy with just them. The vegetables had the best grilled taste. This meal came with a sweet potato biscuit and I have to say, I was trying to be hard to be good and push away the carbs. Okay so this little biscuit got to me and it's was sinfully good with a dab of butter. We usually don’t order dessert but hey we decided to share a slice of Key-Lime pie. I mean we already had that sinfully amazing little biscuit. The Key-Lime pie was absolutely perfect. To top everything off the chef stopped by our table prior to our appetizers arriving and gave us this amazing amuse bouche which was a peeled slightly spicy shrimp on a cracker with a sweet touch of a homemade jam. What a combo and it was a great kickstart to the meal. We had amazing service and overall there was absolutely nothing we could complain about. We both (my wife and I) would highly recommend this place to anyone. We will definitely be back.

First time here. Went for a birthday celebration the mixed drinks were good and the service awesome, but the food was spectacular. The chef comes to your table to make sure everything is ok. A little pricey but well worth it.

First visit, pleasantly surprised that the numerous 5 star ratings were deserved. Greeted and seated promptly, courteous and professional staff. Food was awesome. Crab soup was great and the blackened Rock Fish was perfectly seasoned and cooked. Wife’s Scallops were fresh and also excellently prepared. Kicking ourselves for not visiting sooner.

Oh My Gosh. This ace is wonderful. Outstanding Customer Service. Our waitress Mackenzie was very thorough and spot on. Cocktails were perfectly made (Hibiscus Martini with gray goose). Will defiantly be returning

Selected this restaurant due to reviews and its reputation. Blue Seafood delivered! Great food, excellent service, and conveniently located. The manager interacted with us to ensure quality and satisfaction. Our server was super attentive and very professional, she even took the time to help with dinner selections. Definitely planning on returning.

Customer service, excellent! Food, delicious! Dessert, very tasty! Mixed drinks, perfect! Will we be back? Absolutely! Reason for 4 star instead of 5….lump crab cakes were way too small and I bit into two small bones in the crab cakes. The sautéed veggies had a large green bean stem I bit into and that was very off-putting. Prep cook was not paying close enough attention.

Went here to celebrate my birthday with my husband. Service was good. The food had no seasoning at all. No salt, pepper, old bay, butter; NOTHING! The baked sweet potato tasted like cloves which was nasty. Vegetables were just blanched again no seasoning. Sweet potato biscuit was dense. Sweet tea tasted like dirt. For you to have fresh seafood you need to learn how to season it. We will not be back.

We had an absolutely perfect dining experience tonight. We were greeted at the door by the owner, who welcomed us warmly and showed us to a table. We were waited on immediately (and were pleasantly surprised at the number of staff for such a small place). Our waitress was personable, sweet and attentive. We ordered a fabulous (local) bottle of wine and started off the evening with appetizers - fried green tomatoes for him, crab soup for me. They were outstanding. Next were warm, soft, delicious sweet potato biscuits with apricot butter. His meal was a fantastic crab cake with Asiago mashed potatoes and seasonal veggies. I had tasty grilled salmon (also with the potatoes and veggies). We finished off our meal with a slice of incredibly dense, rich amazing key lime pie and wonderful coffee. We will return very soon.

This was amazing!! I have never had sweet potatoe biscuits and butter whipped with apricots before, but these have to be the best in the world!!! The fish, scallops, and crab cakes were flaky and flavorful. The asiago mashed potatoes... Omg! The service is flawless, the teamwork flowed seamlessly and the chef was as hands on in the front of the house as he was in the back of the house. And to top off the evening, I was visited by Hector the Birthday chicken, because it was my birthday, such a unique twist to the finale of my celebration!

Wow! Great service and delicious food! They started me off with a bit of the best ceviche I've ever had. Then the entree came, along with some delectable sweet potato biscuits, and I was in heaven throughout the meal. Dessert was strawberry shortcake, perfectly in season. I struggled to keep myself from eating it all. A great environment, friendly service, and tasty meals. What more could you ask for?

This place is amazing! The chef visits our table every time we eat here. The food is superb, the service is perfect, and the liquor selection is top notch! If you haven't been yet, you simply must give it a try. I have eaten here several times and tried several different entrees and they are all delicious. If you come on a weeknight there is usually not a wait!
