The rooms were clean and everything worked. They had a clean kitchen. The beds were comfortable. The view was also nice and not far away from the beach. Everything seems good. But There is only 1 elevator. It's really slow sometimes because it stops at random floors. Also, when it's full, you have to wait another 2-5 minutes to get in the elevator. Or even more. But if you're looking for a cheap, affordable hotel to stay at, you should stay here.

Location great, over looking ocean. Rooms were decent for along the beach. No bugs, spacious rooms. Apartment size fridge/ freezer, microwave, counter stove top. 2 room suite with private bedroom 2 queen beds, pull out couch, table 4 chairs. It's an old hotel but decent and cheap and the staff was awesome. 7th floor, elevator slow, construction going on but very polite and responsive staff.

They got us checked in a hour late. Then the keys didn't work. Then finally get into the room to find out it wasn't clean there was still trash from the last guests. We had to clean up our own room 314. Asked for a free night or refund and the manager said I was lying that the rooms were perfect when there was a bunch of guest with the same issue. Chaos. Hopefully my bank refunds me.

Decent place but absolutely no housekeeping even after asking for it several times during our week stay. Bathroom sink leaking, kitchen sink leaking which ended up ruining about $120 worth of food we had for the week for our kids before we noticed it was leaking. After notifying the front desk we was told someone would fix it after we checked out. Some staff very kind, others acted as if it was an issue to be pulled from their phones to replace towels/ toilet paper since hk wouldn't. We had to go buy our own broom and trash bags also since the hotel didn't seem to have any to give up to change trash or sweep the sand from the floors. Walls are extremely dirty, pretty sure their was poop smeared all over our bathroom wall upon check in along with a moldy, dirty shower curtain. Decent location and the pool was nice though 🤷

My husband and I stayed here bc the prices were cheap and there was no room deposit. However, the room was terrible. They are renovating the hotel, but it is clear that the workers are taking a lot of short cuts. We had to switch rooms due to the shower having queen ants and the knob falling off when attempting to shower. The cabinet in the bathroom was also broken. There were no pots, cups, utensils, or plates provided due to past guest stealing them so we had to spend our own money buying those items. There was no tissue, night stands or dressers in room. This should have been told to guest before booking. The staff were great, very polite, and eager to please, but in my opinion they should throw the whole hotel away. We probably would not stay again.

Marjac rates are considerably less than most other Oceanfront hotels in Virginia Beach. It was over $100 less per night, than the one, (all-suite) hotel that I usually frequent. Plus, they did not require a 2-3 night min stay. With that in mind, you must keep realistic expectations. Marjac is a bit run down on the outside, especially the hallway areas leading to the rooms. There is one elevator, however it worked efficiently during my stay. The hotel location in the center of the beach is perfect. The views from floor 5 & higher are the best. The rooms were clean & comfortable (although no closets in the room). The hotel was safe. The kids there, seem to really enjoy the pool. The guys working the front desk were extremely pleasant & accommodating. Families on a budget should consider staying here.

Upon checking in on April 12, 2022 the receptionist did not notify us that the rooms were being renovated. After paying and going to the room we found nothing in place. There were cabinets in the middle of the room, boards on the sofa and the televisions did not work. When we asked for a refund the receptionist could not do a refund transaction and there was no manager available. I've been calling since that day and the manager has not been available. All I want is my refund as we could not stay in those conditions and was not warned of these conditions before paying.

I'm not sure why there's so many negative reviews...guess I just got lucky. Our room had a newly remodeled kitchenette (pots/pans not provided at this time which IS mentioned so sorry to those who can't read and gave it a thumbs down). Newly remodeled bathroom with no water issues, beds were clean and plenty of pillows. Perfect beach location, deff positive note would be seeing dolphins from the balcony and the workers working seemed to enjoy their job. Will be back if I'm ever in the area! Thanks for the great stay!! 👍

It's cheap and very good for big family. Nice view to the beach. Little bit cold because the floor is porcelain tile. Would be best for summer. But overall it's very good place for the price.

It’s a great location right next to the beach with a baloney that over looks the beach. There are elements of this place that are quite nice and you could say “fancy” like a mirror with lights around it that looks like it could be used by an influencer and fancy sink. The rest of the bathroom is average at best. Outside of the room the hotel looked very unclean and getting from floor to floor is very inefficient with only one elevator. This elevator is also very small so you can squish 4 people with their luggage at a time. The service wasn’t bad but I don’t think the guy who I had to ask for sheets pillows and blankets for who gave me sheets and a pillow case spoke a single word to me. He was always smiling though. Going back to my room I didn’t have sheets pillows or blankets on my pullout couch and when I asked I only got pillow cases and sheets. I was using the pillow case as a pillow so I didn’t have to sleep on the sticky and dirty mattress and the sheets as a blanket. The overall place gave off bad vibes. Wouldn’t recommend unless u have no other options and even then idk for the price.

If you're expecting the Hilton, you're out of your mind. This place was great. Friendly staff, clean rooms, ocean view under $200 a night with no night minimum. You're at the beach, you shouldn't be in your room much beyond sleeping, showering and changing clothes.

The only thing suite about this place is the location. The cleanliness left much to be desired. The building is very much run down and the parking lot is super tiny and very tight. There is only one elevator in the whole place that is tiny and very hot, get use to taking the stairs, which are also very dirty and had a smell of urine. It seemed that the room had been recently renovated, however the cleanliness was not great. As you can see from the attached photos, the walls were covered in dirt, bathroom was not clean with a hole in the wall and pee on the toilet seat, the floor was barely swept and felt sticky to the touch, the tv in the living room worked but random channels would be in French or speaking out what the characters were doing, and tv in the bedroom did not work at all. Our second day, found ants in the bathroom with no idea where they came from. Balcony and view was amazing but watch where you step cause ours was dirty and sticky. Blankets on beds are super thing, if you get cold easily, bring your own. Couch is also super uncomfortable. For the price I paid, I expect the cleaning to be a lot better.

The room was nice but our balcony door didn’t lock. I informed the front desk the day I arrived about the door not locking and that I did not feel safe and worried about my valuables, I was told maintenance was gone for the day and they would come by the next day. I reminded them in the morning about the door but no one showed up. We requested a cleaning of our room for the next day since we would be out all day we were told we were added to the list. The next morning on our way out for the day we checked that our room would be cleaned and we were reassured we were on the list. When we came back that evening our room was not cleaned not even clean towels or garbage emptied. We had a room that sleeps 6 using the pull out couch we had to request sheets and blankets for the couch we were told they would bring a pillow later but we never received the pillow when I requested it again they told they don’t have pillows available. If the room sleeps six then you should have at least 6 pillows for each room. The one positive thing the view of the beach and ocean was beautiful

The rooms are good for the price. The service was great. Anytime we needed something, we were helped immediately. The beachfront location is great, and the rooms have beachside balconies. There is also a covered breezeway on each floor on the street side to watch events like the Christmas parade.

This is my family/childhood hotel and it has gone completely to s%*t. The elevator had always been small but now it’s super dark and old looking. The first room they gave us had an odor, the couch was filthy and the TV was shattered with only sound. The second room they gave us, also a little odor and the floors were still wet from what I assumed was a mopping until I dried one area that took too long and the towel turned completely black. Sand is expected but that was disgusting. They use to have nice furniture. The dresser and couch is gone and replaced with what appears to be found in the dumpster next door. I’m disappointed and it’s sad.

Worst hotel ever! Even in March - they ran out of clean bath towels and did not provide any. Water drain in the batch did not work. Shower handle fell off. Door lock did not work, took them more than an hour to let us in.

Tbh I don’t see why they only have 3 stars I give them 4 stars not only because of the beautiful view all the rooms have a balcony with the beautiful ocean view and kitchen the hotel and the room I stayed in is really clean everyone that works here has great customer service they all speak and greet you and seems likes everybody loves their job oh and one more thing since I’ve been going to hotels even the 5 star hotel I’ve never seen them mop their hallway floors but this hotel I have I see them mop and smell the fresh smell my room was even nicely mopped when I got there 😊

This place is disgusting. The first room was dirty when we checked in. The comforter had stains, the floors and door handles had dirt and stains, the renovations to the room were incomplete and shoddy. The furniture is torn and rusty. We were moved to a different room but it had the same problems. Trash. 0/10

Just terrible. The first time we came here’s it was fine, kinda dirty, it was ok. Gave it a try because it was the cheapest place to go the second time and let’s just say we will never be coming back. The floor was insanely dirty, the towels had huge stains and hair. The tub had hair too. It was so loud at night and you could barely sleep. If you’re looking for a place to stay, this ain’t it. Pool was gross too.

We were staying on the last night and the owner decided to kick us out, because my younger cousin who is 6 years old apparently threw diapers at another kid. She called the cops, and wanted all of us out, but still couldn’t pull up the video tape and show it to the cops, she said she was feeling unsafe, (reason is because we are all Muslim, but still is American citizens)even tho we’ve been in the hotel for 3 days, another reason we got kicked out is because, the weekend is coming up and the prices of each night will get more expensive, so all in all it’s your choice would you still like to stay here?

My wife and I went here for our 10th anniversary trip. Our toilet would overflow every time we used it. We called the front desk and told them. They said maintenance was gone for the night and would return at 8 AM. We asked if possible to move rooms. They said that was not possible. We went out the next morning for breakfast at 7AM. We told the person at the front desk that we gave permission to maintenance and housekeeping to cleanup the room from the toilet kept spilling over. We said we would be be back around 4 PM that afternoon. We called around 2:30 PM to ask about the progress. The manager said nobody could go into our room because we didn't give them permission or wouldn't answer the room door. My wife and I immediately went to the hotel and got our things and left. We asked the general manager to refund the three nights we did not stay. We did want to pay for the one night we were there even though we didn't have a toilet. Now they are saying they will be only giving us one night back! We are contacting the BBB and you should avoid this place like the plague!!!

Rooms have been remodeled, still could use touching up here and there! Nice place to stay for quick beach weekend with Oceanview. Cost efficient. Smells of smoke, here and there, but it is VA so they live a little!

I started stay here at Marjac a couple of years ago. It is the best place that I have stayed at since I have been going to the beach. I was there about a week ago. I was very pleased, especially the new renovation. Looks great!! Very clean!! If someone claim there is bed bugs...that's a lie. I have never seen any. The only thing I wish the elevator was bigger. The best place to stay. I am planning on coming back in August to.

The location was a few steps to the beach and boardwalk. The balcony looked over to the ocean. Staff was super friendly. However, there was no housekeeping. APPARENTLY housekeeping must be invited beforehand. No new sheets, towels, sweeping, trash removal, but front desk provided me with a broom upon my request. Also a blow dryer upon request that they said would be mounted later which never occurred. There were no pots and pans in the kitchenette, nor did the electric work on the wall. Fun times making one cup coffee on the floor. The hotel phone didn't work nor the living room tv.. There was a crack on the floor. There is one small elevator for the entire 7 floors. There's no service elevator either. The pool is small and in front. The bathroom sink faucet was leaning. Our neighbors smoked pot couple times a day on their balcony. I let the front desk know my issues in writing and the reply was " Thanks we will perfect this." No apologies, partial refund or sending housekeeping up or anything. When we left to check out 6am no one was at the desk so I looked around and found a nice guy folding hotel towels . He knocked on the door and called someone which no one came.. Then I just gave him our cards and left.

Location is good. That's the only positive thing that can be said about this place. No hot water. The sink made an extremely loud whistling noise and shook violently if you tried to use it. Toilet paper wrappers stuck to the bathroom wall. Indoor chairs with cracked paint and serious rust. One of the complimentary soaps was covered in a sticky mystery syrup with hair and lint clinging to it. Not a single sink/shower/water fixture was actually installed properly. You have to literally hold the bathroom sink faucet straight or it just dumps water onto the floor. No toilet paper dispenser. I wish I was making this up.
