👍👍 Monument to the fallen civilians of the city. On August 23, 1942, the city was subjected to heavy bombing. A very interesting decision by the author of the monument. Creepy, expressive, visual. People often mention monument, city, Stalingrad, civilians,

The most terrible day of the Battle of Stalingrad in the memory of the inhabitants of the hero city was August 23, 1942. On this day, the enemy broke through the defenses of the Soviet troops west of Stalingrad. At the same time, the city was subjected to barbaric massive aerial bombardment. In memory of the victims, in the center of modern Volgograd there is a monument to the civilian population who died during the Battle of Stalingrad and especially on August 23, 1942.

The author’s idea of a sculpture composition combining the tail of the bomb and carved images of women and children, who, being absolutely defenseless in the face of carpet bombing, saved children and the elderly, is very impressive. The cruelty of war loses its human face. The civilians of the city defended it from the enemy along with the soldiers. Everlasting memory.

At 16:18 Moscow time, by order of the Nazi command, the forces of the 4th Luftwaffe Air Fleet began a massive bombing of the city. The bombing of residential areas and industrial enterprises continued for another week. Stalingrad became a front line. The city was turned into ruins, over 40 thousand civilians were killed and more than 50 thousand people were injured. A monument to the civilians of Stalingrad, which was opened on May 9, 1995, on the anniversary of the 60th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, is dedicated to this tragic event. The authors of the monument are honored architects of Russia - Valentin Petrovich Kalinichenko and sculptor Nadezhda Pavlovskaya. The monument is made in the form of a bomb, in the upper part of which is an exploding shell, and in the lower part are civilians, women, old people, and children. On the pedestal is inscribed: “To the civilian population who died during the Battle of Stalingrad.” This object is subject to state protection as a monument of regional significance and is a symbol of grief and memory of the dead civilians of Stalingrad.

The most necessary monument about that time. In my opinion, war “heroic” memorials are much more important.

It’s not worth going especially for the monument. But if you walk along the Volga, from Panorama to the Central Embankment, you won’t pass by. For me it is a very difficult place; the monument leaves a sad impression. In general, it fulfills its function, the spirit of war, fear, death - this definitely emanates from it. Maybe that’s why I don’t like walking past.

(Translated by Google) You must drive to this monument in MANDATORY !!!! the order of all foreigners and those who doubt the results of the Great Patriotic War; all those who shout that Russia has not suffered so much in it. And if the whole world knows about the bombing of Dresden or Hiroshima, then less is known about the raids on Stalingrad. Although the human losses are practically the same both there and there.

It seems to me that the entire city of Volgograd carries within itself the memory of the events of the Great Patriotic War. And this place is very well located at a road junction of both pedestrian and highway roads. Nearby there is a good cafe serving Georgian cuisine.

To be remembered... Memory is sacred! Pain and sorrow are all expressed. The horrors of war must not be repeated!

The monument is interesting. But it has not been restored, probably for several decades - it looks a little abandoned. At the moment it is a passing place. There are several different cafes nearby, and next to the monument itself there are benches and a park - you can relax.

Located in the park on the embankment. In summer there are a lot of people walking here, but in winter there are few. In general, the monument is not impressive in appearance.
