All in all, after the recent renovations, I have enjoyed it a lot, I wish that they would bring back the hatch in freezer that drops into the library though, it was nice. Over all one of the best ranked maps due to balancing issues and is easy to learn. Would highly recommend this map along with Consulate and Bank.

The worst experience I have ever received at a 'high end' restaurant. Made a reservation in the library prior to arriving early for dinner mid week. Restaurant was quiet. We received an email confirming and stating dress code. When we arrived we were told Library was full and with a simple hand gesture offered a table behind the cash register at the front entry. Girl at front desk who was tall.and thin with long blond hair was rude and unhelpful and constantly on the phone or trying to sort out problems with seating preferences. It turned out all English speaking diners were offered a table in the downstairs section to the left of the entry, which was inferior seating. It was extremely racist behaviour. We were asked what drinks we would like without being offered a wine list. Extremely unprofessional and snobbish rude behaviour on behalf of the seating hostess in charge. NEVER AGAIN. I wished we had spent our last evening in Moscow at a decent restaurant. Terrible memory for our family and ruined our night.

On a more negative note you Really notice the difference if you are with locals or only with foreigners visiting this restaurant. Let me give you an example: I have been here many, many times and when I am here with locals the service is much better. When I am alone or with business partners, they default place us on the ground floor and not in the library l, second floor. Also the borsch is serviced without bread and cream (duhhhhhh) why is that?!? This didn’t happened to me when I visited it with locals, too bad…. I went there for breakfast at about 11am. I was greeted by a cheery hostess who led me to my seat. It was crowded so I was seated at a dark corner but near the window with some natural light coming in. The waiter took a while to open up but provided amicable service in the end. I ordered pancakes and caviar served with sour cream. The pancakes were delicious and the caviar was without that fishy smell. Loved them! My omelet with cheese were served with my choice of sideorder of bacon. They were equally good. I ordered a vegan drink called Winter since today's weather was very warm in Moscow. Nice soothing drink with light gingery aroma. I gave my millet porridge with pumpkin a pass because it was baked (?) and there was a layer of melted butter on top. It would have tasted perfect if it was just cooked the usual way. Personal preference here so no complaint. Overall, it was a pleasant experience at the cafe.

Coming from the hospitality industry abroad - this place really has got it. The service is impeccable. Except for the odd ‘tired’ employee who is clearly overwhelmed doing the long shifts in a 24-hour establishment, every member of staff is seemingly in good spirits. Presentation of dishes is fantastic. Every waiter remembers which language you speak versus your guest, remembers which dish to server first, meticulously keeps on top of your glasses not going empty and re-pours at the perfectly same line each time. Can advise on any dish. Bartenders make fantastic drinks and are glad to brief you on the history of the establishment despite order tickets coming out their ears. I believe the gentleman at the cloak room speaks 6 languages including Arabic, French, Italian, English and maybe even German? The food - not a single dish served on our table was badly presented. Taste, balance and creativity - 5* across the board. This is not boring chain food from 5* restaurants- this is soulfully cuisined, carefully considered recipes made by chefs with a lot of zest and experience. I have been to many great places to eat with price tags not warranting it and I can safely say that this place is up in the top.

Just the 3 of us but we ate on behalf of everyone there. We love everything we ordered. We love everything about this place. excellent service and delicious foods… this place has an amazing ambiance and very very good staff! they speak english and serve perfect! prices are reasonable(even cheap). if you visit Moscow you should definitely come here ! I tried cranberry juice, borsch and dumplings they were both good. please leave some tips because they deserve it :)
