Really nice pub with friendly staff and good outdoor drinking area. I have had a number of nice meals here, standard Greene King menu, the food is cooked very well. The Greene King app works really well for booking a table in advance and when ordering food and drink.

Romantic meal for 2 but sadly was a disappointment. Very busy Saturday so long wait at the bar. The staff were friendly enough and the Landlady was very polite and helpful. They tried to squeeze on to a small table right in the middle of other diners, but helped us choose a more suitable table when requested. I ordered the mixed grill with a medium cooked steak. The steak was rare and difficult the cut into or chew. The chicken breast had no real chicken texture so no doubt a cheap breast with additives. Overall not great food but it was super busy fir them. I won't be eating here again.

Really nice pub to visit. We went on Sunday and it weren't massively busy so got a table without having to book. Great food for a great price. The only thing I didn't really understand was that you had to be over 18 to still inside.

*Heads up children are not allowed at this pub* Lots potential but was let down by the food. Lovely pub the food was only ok. Staff were friendly but once the pub got busy it seemed they were short staffed. We had fish and chips and the salt beef burger. The fish was a little greasy, bread was a bit stale and the burger was only ok. Overall experience was average but we won't be heading back anytime soon. Good selection of cask and draft ales though

It’s a very homely well run place, staff are always friendly, helpful, and cheerful. You can tell that management must work hard to effect a really good atmosphere. Food is always lovely and presentation is very good. I would thoroughly recommend a visit. Also the menu caters for all tastes and budgets, I especially enjoy the Sunday lunch.

Lovely pub with good beer but let down by the attitude of the bar staff. We visited here from 4pm until 6pm Saturday 23rd July and endured dreadful service at the bar. The pub was not busy so no excuse really, from what I observed simply down to shocking staff attitude. At one point there were 5 customers waiting to be served of which I was one and 2 bar staff. The female member of the bar staff, having served her current customer then decided to ignore the remaining customers and start putting glasses away. The male member of staff then left the bar to answer the telephone and went walkabouts within the pub to find the person who the phone call was for returning about a minute later, by which time the queue had increased to 7. The female member of staff continued to ignore the customers waiting to be served, in fact disappeared into the rear of the bar. The person who received the phone call then appeared at the end of the bar and had a conversation on the phone whilst watching the customer queue get longer. I THINK it was a senior member of staff, maybe even the Manageress but she did nothing to address the poor service which she must have noticed. Such a shame, lovely pub, good beer, food is good too but probably the worst customer service you will endure in Oxton. It is not a "first" either we have had similar experiences here over the years. Poorly managed pub.

Went for a meal with work colleagues Sunday evening . Meal was nice we all ordered puds mine didn’t arrive .later we went to pay before getting drinks to sit outside . I had a lamb shank roast and told it was £12.99 when on menu it was £1 less then mentioned about I wasn’t paying for my pud when a lady presumably assistant manager as she had white blouse on said in a nasty voice well did you order one I replied yes as was on bill and then shouted well do you want one to which I replied no thankyou as we have finished . There is no need to be so rude in front of a stream of customers very unprofessional . Don’t think I will be going back .

What a fabulous place! Had an absolutely lovely evening on Saturday with friends. The staff were lovely and had lots of time for us even though the place was packed. Everyone was smiling and place had a good atmosphere. Shout out to Meg and James (?) who kept everyone at the bar happy and seemed to be having a good time themselves despite it being busy. Happy staff, happy customers, and will have to be back to try the food.

So disappointing. Booked a table for 2pm for 3 people. Was seated and received drinks while waiting for starter. We had to remind them 55 minutes later that we were still waiting. An apology came with our starters. When we eventually got our main meal, turkey dinner, it was quite pitiful. One small carrot, one small slice of parsnip, 3 hard roast potato halves, one rubbery yorkie and half a dozen hard sprouts. I don’t mind an al-dente sprout but wow these were hard. The saving grace was the turkey, oh and the gravy was nice. What the three of us left filled a whole plate. Dessert was nice. Informed a member of staff about the meal. UPDATE: Was contacted by a member of the management within a couple of hours of posting this review and have accepted an apology and a meal on the house at a time of our choice. Couldn’t ask for more really.

Started well, drinks were served. Ordered the mixed grill, was told it wasn't available due to them having Gammon...the lady serving us was very pleasant and went to ask the chef !!!. Ifcwe could substitute the gammon for steak.. No was the answers ...we even offered to pay the difference... We asked a gent if we could order dessert..we were told in no uncertain terms he worked behind the bar.... This isn't even a position he should be doing. After ordering desert we were td the deserts ordered were again not available. This gent who works on the "bar"hasn't got the skills to deal with the public. Very rude, wished I had his name. My father past a few months ago and this was a family getting through today. Nice food..when available, lovely service off the girls. Obnoxious gent behind yhe bar, I will get his name for an official Complaint. My mother was upset, well done, one bad apple.

Absolutely shocking service The food was lovely but the service was enough for me to never want to go back. Once we has sat down it took 30 mins for them to take a drink order then another 20 mins for the drinks to come and they forgot the hot drinks. We had to ask if we can order our food as by this point we had been waiting 50 mins before any food order was taking. I will not be back.

Great pub. Excellent selection of draft beers, both local and from further afield- particularly enjoyed seeing a Timothy Taylors Landlord pump from my home county! Plenty of friendly staff too, so quick service with a smile. Busy boozer but very friendly, also dog friendly, so feel free to bring your pooch. Looking forward to going back soon.

Lovely friendly waitress from Mexico, but unfortunately, not lovely food! A few of us in our party had the fish and chips which was so tasteless and the batter was not fresh. The lamb, gammon and risotto were ok I believe but nothing special. We had a table booked for 7 p.m. and it took ages to serve our meals and on top of that they were out of at least 5 or 6 things on the menu which was surprising given we had booked an early slot! This used to be such a good place to go for food but we have been there a few times now and the food is a disappointing let down. Its such a shame as its a lovely pub and very local to us but sadly will be giving this a miss for food from now on!

I love this pub, the staff are just brilliant…i wanted to thank you all for the love and support you have shown to my Dad, he is a regular at your pub, he now has quite bad dementia and isn’t in good health. He has been going to The Caernarvon for over 10 years. Linda and her staff have been so very kind to him, making sure he is safe at all times, going over and beyond really, to take care of him. Taking my number and ringing me if they are worried and promising to keep an eye on him. A massive thank you. From all my family. X food is lovely and there is always such a welcome here.

We sit outside, it was a nice sunny day. Space outside has variety of seats, benches bars and boot seatting with roof.

We were quite disappointed with our visit. We waited 25 minutes for 4 drinks. One of the drinks we ordered they did not have (nor had they ever had apparently) even though it was listed on the app and we had already paid for it. This was fine but it took them a long time to come and tell us. When the drinks finally arrived, one glass of wine was served room temperature (it was a rosé that should be chilled). I was too afraid to ask for a replacement for fear of another 25 minute wait! Needless to say we did not stay for another round.

Unfortunately, after a lovely welcome,I was treated to some special treatment by one of the staff members. A mature lady,obviously flustered,was rude and extremely derogatory to me while serving at the bar.later,when I had an issue with some ketchup,she made it quite clear she thought I had deliberately smeared sauce on myself,my friend and the surrounding area!!thankfully there was another, calmer,professional member of staff who at least apologised and resolved the issue. I never bother with these kind of things , but when someone goes out of their way to be rude to me,for no good reason,I think it's worth a mention.the staff,in general,were lovely,but our experience has been tarnished by someone who failed me as a customer ,and the rest of the team,who work hard to make every customer enjoy their experience at the place of work.

Would not go again on a busy day. We waited for ever for our mains and ended up cancelling the order. In fairness I don't think this was a usually typical day, the staff were under enormous pressure, it was extremely busy. Our starters of sharing chicken platter was okay and tasty, but then we waited over an hour before cancelling our mains order. Its a lovely venue I just think we chose a bad day to visit

Visited here for a meal with two friends. Greene King pub so the usual pub fare. Enjoyed the food, the coffee with a mini dessert is a good idea. Table service and very attentive staff.

Pretty much your standard Greene King pub/restaurant. Visited on a hot Saturday evening where it was extremely busy outside. We had booked a table so had waitress service inside. The drinks took ages to arrive, they were prioritising people at the bar rather than people inside dining. The food was pretty good, I had a mushroom and ale pie. Good range of vegetarian meals, and the price was good as well. The service was a disappointment though.

We regularly visit the Caenarvon Castle, and it’s great. It’s got a lovely atmosphere, and the staff are very friendly. The food is nice (please keep the Chicken Schnitzel from the seasonal menu! Love it!), they have good drinks and gluten free options, and it’s very reasonably priced. Thank you to the manager Linda, for always being so lovely and accommodating and for going over the top to make sure we always have a nice time. ☺️

Recently dined here with a party of 14 to celebrate a birthday. Table was decorated by the staff with balloons and banners when we arrived. Staff were really pleasant and helpful. Food was delicious, all meals came out together and was hot. Can highly recommend.

Visited the Caernarvon castle on the 29th September for my son's birthday... we arrived with the tables decorated with balloons and banners and party poppers..such a lovely thing that the manager and the team to do... service was excellent from start to finish, staff are so welcoming and friendly. Food was excellent... my son left feeling great.. I can't thank the manager and the staff for a great 1st visit and we will definitely be joining yous again

First thing is no children are allowed into the pub under any circumstances. So if you planning a family visit hope the weather is nice outside. Otherwise we don't have children so ideal place for us. Food is lovely, hot and served by wonderful staff. I would say to reserve a table as it gets very busy. Reasonably priced, lots of choice on the main menu and dessert. Vast amount of drinks too. Very clean pub and toilets aswell.

Fantastic menu, great beer, and a plethora of wine and spirits to choose from too! Staff are friendly and welcoming. Variety of evening entertainment and live music every week. Spacious garden, perfect for the Summer months ahead! Cannot recommend this pub enough, well done to the staff who allow this place to thrive to its maximum potential daily! Will definitely keep coming back.

Had never been here before, I had my dachshund with me and expected to sit outside which is totally fine. However we were able to sit inside, I think all of the staff had came over to see him , they brought over treats and a bowl of water. New favourite pub I think! Pleasantly surprised by food , better quality than any other green king .

Amazing place to go for a relaxed drink, food is always delicious an served at a high standard. Highly recommended. Linda and her team are always polite and helpful, a great service with a massive smile even when covid rules where crazy and times were manic never failed to deliver a fab service!

I used to go here all the time I was back home from Canada, went about 2 weeks ago with my cousin for a meal. Terrible service,terrible food and it's a shame,but I wont be going back.

Its a pint on the way to somewhere else place for me. Surrounded by a huge catchment area. Could be a goldmine if it had an iota of atmosphere.
