We're just about to check out after booking for one night on our way further south. Our room was spacious, warm and with a lovely view and a comfortable bed. The shower was superb. The breakfast was outstanding. Delicious. Beautiful ingredients. My husband had a full Irish fry and I tried the plant based option. Oh my, they were delicious and the staff couldn't have been friendlier. We definitely want to come back.

Now the Granville is a hidden gem in Waterford, I've passed it on numerous times while staying in Waterford but how wrong was I, it has to be the best place I've ever stayed from the time you leave the car park your in for the experience of a life time. The staff are so friendly and welcoming its incredible and the place is spotlessly clean, it's just a wonderful experience to stay there you get that feel good feeling as soon as you walk in the door it's most definitely worth a visit.

Excellent service and always reliable for a good meal. Traditional lunchtime carvery is very popular but you can get food here all day. Staff are very friendly and the hotel, bar and restaurant are really well managed.

Service gone downhill Been coming here for 2 years 3 times a week and the service has gone downhill last few months . You barely get a hello from staff just very basic standard tourist service. Considering we are regulars for two years , 3 times a week , barely get acknowledged . Done and dusted .

We really enjoyed our stay. Fiona at the front desk was exceptionally friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very good, and the room was nice. One piece of advice: if you are in a room fronting on the street, ask for a fan for the room. The white noise of the fan will wash out almost all of the traffic or harbour noise.

This was probably my favorite hotel of the 5 I stayed in, while in Ireland. The room was so big, the bed was comfortable, the food was SO good. I had both dinner and breakfast here and it was wonderful. I loved that I could add Bailey's to my porridge for breakfast as well 😉

My partner and I stayed here for two nights, the staff were very nice and helpful. The breakfast was lovely, unfortunately we couldn’t try the dinner because they were all booked out. Where the hotel is situated is a two minute walk from anywhere it’s a great location. We had an outstanding experience here and definitely would come back. Couldn’t recommend anymore if i could give more than 5 stars i would.

The hotel is well maintained & decorated beautifully. The staff are all very friendly & accommodating. Bedrooms are quirky but very comfortable. I wouldn’t recommend having dinner there however, the food is very old fashioned, quite bland and expensive. Nice selection for breakfast including a porridge & whiskey bar.

Popped in today for food. We live locally. Carvery often gets bad press, this carvery is excellent! Roast beef was succulent tasty and lean which is my preference. Gravy was so tasty and the roasties and veg plentiful!!! The veg actually tasted like they should not soapy as I've found in other places. Staff were attentive friendly and unobtrusive. Really enjoyed it, will be returning soon!!!

I think they needed more staff the day we went as it took so long for our orders to be taken and for the actual food to come. The servers were so lovely the place is absolutely beautiful especially at Christmas. The food was really nice, even though it took a long time to get our food I would go back and I do recommend it

Absolutely amazing hotel. I can't speak highly enough about it. I travel a lot and stay in hotels all over the country, and this is definitely one of the best. It is ideally situated. It is a beautiful hotel with an amazing history and fantastic character. It is spotless and very comfortable. The food is lovely and a great pint of Guinness too. But most notably the staff are brilliant, very friendly and helpful. 5 star's if I could give more I would.

I have visited the Granville once sometimes twice a year. I have family in the area. I could never stay in any other hotel in Waterford. Staff are out in their own Nothing too much trouble. Food is always great. I have eaten in bar and restaurant always great food. The owner Liam chats with residents to ask about their stay. This morning I had an issue with a booking. Fiona was on hand to Advise me. It’s in the middle of town. Near shops restaurants etc. A brilliant hotel. Ann Spencer

Came for lunch in a couple of pints, upon the recommendation of a local garda. It was great. So much food we couldn't eat it all, but so good. The pot roast was perfect. Super tasty pepper sauce. Love all the veggies too.

We had a wonderful stay at the Granville, a hotel steeped in history. It is a long time since we felt such a warm welcome. From our arrival at reception to checkout, we felt well looked after. Our room was really comfortable with great attention to detail. Breakfast was wonderful, freshly prepared with excellent choice. The bar was also very comfortable with a good drink choice and cozy open fires. We will definitely be back.

Excellent protocols in place from entry to the hotel right through to the bar and restaurant. Every member of staff at the top of their game. Excellent food and service. Definitely put a visit here on your to do list. Well done all.

I had dinner in the Granville With my boyfriend . The food was fabulous . A really kind waitress called Julia served us . As I’m allergic to lactose and dairy . Julia went through the whole menu with me to make sure I found something to eat which I almost couldn’t believe . I have been to every restaurant in Waterford for food and not one had the same care towards their staff . Therefore we’d definitely be back again

The Hotel historic architecture and tasteful decor create a cozy and inviting atmosphere. I enjoyed strolling along the nearby waterfront and exploring the city's rich history and culture. One of the highlights of my stay was the delicious food served at the hotel's restaurant. I must highlight the hotel's pub, which is an absolute gem. The pub exudes a cozy and traditional Irish atmosphere, making it the perfect place to unwind and enjoy a drink or two.

The front desk was very kind and helpful. Dinner was amazing. We had the fish and chips and the Granville special sandwich. 🤌 The bed was comfortable and we had a good night sleep.

Very central within the city centre. Staff were amazing. On a very busy Saturday around Christmas, we came back to the hotel for our dinner only to find the restaurant extremely busy. A member of staff took our room number and asked me to pop back down to him in about 10mins to check if he could arrange something for us. When I went back down he had arranged for a table to be ready for us 15mins later. Food was top class also!!

Beautiful hotel in a perfect location. Booked it for the weekend, to celebrate my 40th birthday and had the best time ever. Checked in quickly, parking complimentary if you book directly with the hotel. We got the spacious room with the balcony on the top floor, lovely views and so quiet. Great shower, comfortable bed. The staff outstanding, housekeeping girls needs a separate set of compliments. Had a dinner at a bar on one of the nights, though it was very busy, service was quick, food simply delicious. Great selection of drinks. Because of hotel’s very central location you are literally steps away from best restaurants and pubs. A lot of live music around town on weekends. Can’t recommend it enough and definitely will revisit.

A fantastic four star hotel with an amazing location on the Quays, we dined in the restaurant where food was of excellent quality and beautifully presented. Service was top notch and unobtrusive. A comprehensive wine list added to what was a memorable experience. Loved it!!!

Great location, parking was manageable. Walked to House of Waterford Crystal, also walked to restaurant. Stayed 2 nights in September 2023. Room was lovely, overlooked the waterfront (which will be even better once bridge construction is complete). Breakfast was very good, served in the lovely dining room. Desk staff helped us choose our "bike the greenway" route with great observations and suggestions. Only downside was having to manage tour groups at breakfast and in the single elevator.

Grand hotel on the quay at Waterford. (Most of the guests not so grand!) Great location. Bar, restaurant and cleaning staff were friendly and efficient. Good food. Great selection of drinks in the traditional bar. Room quite cramped. Very happy so much of the architectural features have survived.

Had a very enjoyable stay at the Granville. Rooms were a great size and the location of the hotel was perfect, not too far from the shops, crystal experience and viking triangle. We also ate in the bar, which had lovely food and a great atmosphere

This was my first vist to Waterford and The Granville Hotel. Will definitely be back to Waterford and will definitely stay in The Granville Hotel. We had a lovely room which was spotlessly clean. The staff were very friendly, efficient and helpful, a credit to the hotel. Fabulous breakfasts and the barfood was delicious too. So enjoyed my weekend here. Well done The Granville Hotel.

This is a review of the breakfast only . The breakfast is located in a beautifully classical room which can get busy during summer . The breakfast options are good including vegetarian options even having porridge with local whiskey liqueur. I would recommend this hotel as a lovely breakfast option.

This quaint little Inn built in the 1700's is quite charming and very conveniently located across the Harbor. The small rooms are nicely furnished with antique furniture. The stairways, hallways and dining areas are reminiscent of days gone by. The only negative for me was the tiny flat screen tv and the bathroom sink (two separate spigots for hot and cold water, most definitely very old school). The Dining area was lovely and offered a very ample, fresh and delicious breakfast. The staff was friendly and the room rates reasonable. A good choice for a comfortable stay!

We had a great experience at the Granville Hotel when we came here on holiday. The car park is literally just a few steps away from the entrance so don't let that be off putting that they don't have parking "on site". The parking is validated by the hotel if you stay so it's great that it's convenient to come here with a good amount of luggage. We came on a day that we didn't realize there was a Christmas market going on over the weekend but still were able to get parking without too much of an issue. Coming over the US Thanksgiving week, this was a nice surprise to have everything already done up in the Christmas spirit though. The hotel is very nice and we found it to be an enjoyable experience. We had two different rooms and both were very comfortable. The rooms had plenty of space with the only strange part for us being that the light switches were outside of the bathroom but that seemed to be par for the course at a few different places we stayed so think it's a cultural difference. The upstairs room we had makes me wonder if the hotel picked up an additional space or if it's just a historical setup. Expanding on this, once we reached the floor on the elevator we found that we had to climb a short 1/4 flight of stairs with our luggage so I'm not sure if this was an adjoining unit in the past that became part of the hotel later. We ordered a four course dinner from the restaurant which is also where the breakfast room is in the morning. Fair warning that the fourth course is tea or coffee which I didn't expect but it was still a good dinner. The whiskey selection was great and offered quite a bit of other types of alcohol if you want something different. We had the blade of beef & belly of pork dinners which were very good. The location makes it a great place to walk to many of the places throughout Waterford and with the great stay I highly recommend it here.

On the waterfront in Waterford. Large "old fashioned" heritage hotel which has been sensitively brought up to date. Large comfortable king size bedroom with king size bed, dressing table, two easy chairs, wardrobe with safe and still plenty of room to move about! Ensure we'll equipped and spacious bathroom. Friendly and helpful staff. Large dining room. Excellent breakfast buffet and / or cooked. "Porridge experience" is worth trying. Highly recommended.

Very cozy, historical and river view! This is a very warm and comfortable hotel, with a waterfront view. It is also right off a main street, so there are some traffics. The inside deco was very classic and warm tone, makes you feel like home and want to stay inside and enjoy the feeling of comfort.

Lovely hotel in a central location in Waterford city. Spotlessly clean with Covid measures adhered to. Friendly, helpful staff. Really enjoyed the food, we had dinner off a set menu, but a la carte available also, and breakfast was plentiful! Carpark across the road, discount for hotel guests. Overall, had a great stay in the Granville.

Really lovely experience staying here before Christmas. An old fashioned but fresh and spotlessly clean hotel. Lots of brass fittings and fancy glass in the doors, all really well maintained and mirror clean. Really friendly team, lovely decorations, relaxed atmosphere and great room (family room) with loads of space and two showers no less (and a bath). Totally lovely stay.

Was charged €7.50 for a pot of tea, I genuinely could not believe, I'm appalled. Also the Carvery is overpriced and use Covid as an excuse.

Very well organized hotel and Sunday carvery. We were greeted at the door by a very friendly and professional staff who took our details. The carvery selection was lamb, chicken and beef. The staff were very friendly at the carvery. I didn't like queuing in the rain outside but it didn't take too long. The food quality was very good. It was a bit busy.

We went into the Granville for a snack and a drink. Guidelines were strictly followed in regards to showing vaccine cert and ID and phone number. I had a pate which was very tasty. The wine was nicely chilled and the Guinness very creamy. I noticed that when tables were vacated they were thoroughly cleaned as were the chairs. I was very impressed!

The hotel is in a great location, the room was spotless and we felt safe from Covid perspective. Breakfast is lovely with lots of options. Dinner was ok - starter and dessert were good but the mains weren't the same standard.

Central to Restaurants, Bars, Shopping and Museums, this beautiful Hotel is located right on the River Suir. Incredibly friendly staff are more than willing to hello with any request you may have. Rooms are very clean and spacious. The Granville has a Bar and Restaurant serving great food, using locally sourced ingredients. The Hotel is very well set up for functionality during Covid.

Out for the first time for an evening meal with himself! COVID protocols in place at the entrance which was reassuring. Table in the restaurant with view over the quays. Lovely meal which we couldn’t fault, attentive and very pleasant staff, Niamh our waitress was delightful. We’ve often had food in the bar but this was our first time in the restaurant and it definitely deserves it 5 stars and more.

I was taking my younger brother around Waterford during his short visit from London. It began to rain and we were already thinking of somewhere to stop for quick refreshments. We turned into The Granville and were immediately impressed by the warm welcome upon entering and the brilliant customer service given whilst managing the covid restrictions and the admin. this now entails when entering an establishment. We ended up dining and stayed for a while after with coffee. This is a beautiful place. Very high quality service and very high quality food. Amazing value for money. Everything was spotless, wood cared for, brass gleaming, glass and mirrors sparkling. The housekeeping crew clearly have a sense of pride and satisfaction in their work. The decor and artwork, generous and comforting open hearth fire, lovely leather furniture and impeccable staff combine to qualify The Granville as a premium, exclusive and class leading hotel. The attributes that promote a very good hotel to an outstanding one are present here, the standards of excellence evident. The Granville earns it's position as one of the best hotels in Ireland, class and quality oozing throughout and I have firm confidence they have secured much loyalty and repeated custom because of this. My brother viewed the rest of the hotel online and has subsequently planned his frequent visits changing previous hotel choice to stay here. I will certainly return and will happily recommend this establishment to colleagues, friends and family as THE place to sample and experience the very best of Irish hospitality. Thank you.

A spot of Christmas shopping and a special lunch somewhere with a touch of class, style and comfort. The Granville fits the bill and the bill wasn't too bad either. Well worth it. Staff great with a nice blend of youth and experience. Always a good sign.

Came here for breakfast as a walk in, as their restaurant breakfast is amazing. The staff are friendly, polite and very helpful. The restaurant is clean, spacious and the buffet table is full! You help yourself to cereal, fruit, yoghurts, juices, bread, croissants and scones. Then the waitress/waiter will take your hot food and drinks order. You can visit the buffet table as much as you want. The hot food is hot and non greasy. The whole experience is wonderful. Love coming here for a special breakfast treat. Well worth the money.

A beautiful hotel catering to tours and tour busses. Difficult to get an elevator or formal dining room dining because of this. Bar dining was fine for us, and service was quick. Our room was too warm, even with air-conditioning. Did not think to call the desk to have our heat turned down further; found out the next morning they keep the hotel a little warmer to cater to the tour bus clientele but our room temp could have been adjusted better individually for us.

  • 5/5 Wes R. 1 year ago on Google
The staff was very helpful and friendly. I recommend the breakfast with your room. It was very good. If you need air conditioning make sure to ask for a room with air conditioning. Not all rooms have air conditioning at this time. Really good location and historic building.

I loved this hotel! The room was so cozy, it felt like I was staying in someone's house but with all the amenities of a hotel. My room had AC and it worked well, but I don't think all rooms have AC so you have to request it. The bed was comfortable. Staff were friendly. Dinner was delicious here as well!

Had a wonderful stay here, although some say the rooms are dated they are homely as you would expect from a family hotel. Any small issues were dealt with swiftly. Due to an accident I was less mobile, the staff ensured that an appropriate room was available and help us out when ever needed. The staff were all very welcoming and showed great hospitality. Excellent location although there are works going on Infront of the hotel

Nice hotel but some rooms are very noisy. We had a room near the main boilers and also there was construction workers drilling underneath our room. While I can understand work has to be carried out on the hotel but really rooms close to it should not be charged at same price as other quieter rooms. Food is good generally and staff are love
